  1. This is the updated cluster setup found on the 92 - 00 models. Im looking to upgrade my 89 cluster to this type (i hope). I havent had a good clear picture of the back but this is a jem to me atm anyways. I dont see why i cant swap the clusters over. I might need to swap connector wires to match the correct circuitary copper lines but this gives me more hope its doable.
  2. Sweet metal clips. Didnt know they changed them. Hopefully i can get the metal ones and never have to worry about my passenger going on me and having to refab one from metal (Did for my dirvers).
  3. Cheers thanx for the info. My car is a jap spec, as im from australia so the kph is standard over here. Now ive done a comparison of the 2 face plates and even though the 2k face is larger it still looks like it will fit in the same place as the original smaller face. Though i cant make a complete comparison as the circuitary on the new gauge made close up checking impossible. But as ive said this was a lost reesort plan after all avenues had been tried. Im hoping to find the part number for the looms for the cluster in nissan fast which should solve the problem with the different plugs. But if i find any other information ill post it here.
  4. Finally some answers, I agree its not a simple job and i think i remember your post about your attempt to add a older (90) cluster into your 95 model but could succeed. Atm im working on getting the white gauges first becuase im sure i can just transfer the face plates from one speedo to the next. But i was hoping to buy the complete cluster from the 2kspec and modify the wiring looms to match the circuitary at the back of the cluster. I dont intend to modify my existing cluster (89) but do a complete swop. I will try to get an auto elect. to help me but ill try and gather more parts and slowly. But could it be a matter of swapping the cluster wiring looms if i can obtain them.
  5. I recently acquired a gauge part from the 2000spec instrument cluster and as i execpted when i compared the new part with a part from a 90 model cluster there was a big difference with the mounting screws making replacment impossible. I was expecting this outcome and have always planned to swap the face plates over so i can use my original cluster if i needed to. Now ive read a few threads about how different the 94+ cluster is compared to the 89 cluster. Ive been checking on Nissan fast (offical nissan spare parts program) and it seems nissan changed the cluster design in 92 (by what nissan fast is showing me) I can see the difference of the 2 clusters but what i want to know is, What needs to be done to convert my 89 model so a cluster from a 94 model can be installed plug and play so to speak. If its a matter of finding the correct wiring loom for the cluster plugs i should be able to find it but can i just alter the pin setup of the 89 model and match that with the copper tracks from the new cluster??? I just want to research as much as possible. I would consider getting an auto elect. to rewire the 89 loom to match but i dout its as easy as im hoping it to be.
  6. hey guys, I have been thinking about replacing my Throttle Position Sensor with a new one from nissan and i was wondering if there were any differences from the 90 version compare to the 96 ones. I have found out from the US forums that the 96 versions looks completely different to the 90 version but i just wanted to know if the sensors where improved in the later models improving throttle levels and what not. I dont think i could add the 96 version into my 89 model but i just thought id ask the question.
  7. What about a 98-00 spec ECU for a 89 Jspec. Can that be swapped over at all? Its not really a something i think ill actually do but if i can get my hands on a 98 - 00 spec ECU i would like to add it to my 89 z:).
  8. Well When i investigated my aerial i found this disconnected and all the wiring seems to be normal and no breaks or cuts. I connected it to this grey box but it didnt make a difference to the aerial going up.
  9. A little off topic quesiton but are the US spec cargo blinds exactly the same as the JDM ones??? Ive found out recently the part numbers are different.
  10. I dunno what its like in the uk, but my aerial has never gone up since i brought the car and my radio reception is perfect. I decided to investigate and found the rope in my aerial was missing so i brought a second hand working aerial and found theres no power getting to the aerial. I plan to get it fixed one day. But it doesnt affect my recepetion when its down.
  11. looks good legrath, ive always enjoyed looking up updates on your Zed will look sweet once its done. And i know how you feel when it comes to no spare storing parts at home, ive got a collection a bit bigger then urs and im still stockpiling atm im still have alot of 99spec parts to get before i install everything. Cant wait to show everyone but ill hold off till its the right time to blow everyone away;).
  12. I used Keroseen to dissolve the tar from the lights. And used small chisels and screw drivers to scrap the tar off. When i got most of it off i would use a bush and wiped the area with keroseen until it was all gone. Doesnt stick to you then:). The sealant i used now on the tailights has a sticky back so can be stuck to the tailight and then when u screw it to the car tightly it seals up for you. Its great will take me no more then 2 mins to change my 99spec tailights over:).
  13. another avenue you could go when install the new tailights is instead of using the tar crap that gets everywhere and sticks like no other use a thick rubber seal material for truck doors. When i put my LED tailights on i used these rubber seals and now i dont have to worry about needing to heat the tar or worry about it getting everyone. I didnt get any pix but when i get my 99spec lights ill take some photos then. I got them from a hardware shop, Here its called bunnings but i dunno about the uk. Its one of those you can buy almost anything here shop with regards to DYI and outdoor stuff. hope that helps.
  14. cheers thanx man, All the photos show is the wiring along the steering column. here is the last pic All it shows is on the left is the cruise control wiring (green and yellow wires) and the Right is the Inidcator Stork wiring. (black green red etc) Dunno about HICAS i do have one connector thats unplugged under their and i dont know what it connects to:( Couldnt be a HICAS connector (doutful) but yeh.
  15. I turned 25 yesterday and instead of getting lots of little presents from the family and gf, i got one big present from everyone. This was all becuase of my lovely girlfriend Paulina, who organised getting me this absolutely perfect birthday present and having running around getting everyone to chip in. Best birthday ive ever had Im going to see about changing my fourm nick now too. Does anyone know if i can change my username on here???
  16. Hey funkysi, finally took those photos you wanted. sorry i didnt do it yesterday it was my birthday. Still i think everything is the same from the looks of it but here are the photos anyways:) The little connector on the Left of the column is the cruise control/ horn loom. Hope these photos help you with your question. Cheers
  17. Ill take some photos for you tomorrow no sweet. I wont go as far as remove my steering wheel but ill be able to show you all the relevent connections and wiring associated with the CC.
  18. I dont have any photos but the back of the steering wheel s1 has a copper plate with grooves in it and these grooves link up with 3 copper pins on connected to the white plastic part for the indicator stork. From what it looks like Si you have all the avaliable CC wiring (Yellow connector with green & red wiring connected to it but i think your indicator stork block part is different or the same as mine. I can get you a photo of mine on monday if you like. Cant do much about it now as ive got 2 much on this w/e
  19. Cheers thanx Si, i would appreicate any help you can provide me.
  20. Unfortunately, thats all the evidence i have on this topic atm. Im going to try and order the CC steering column covers for the Stork and see if there is any difference. Ill let you know as soon as i find some hard evidence Si.
  21. ok then will these pictures help???
  22. I dont think so. From what Nissan fast shows me the CC stork fits on the same Part as the Indicator stork does and as its on the opposite side of the steering column it wouldnt need to be any longer. This pix from a 2k model shows no extension of the steering column and plenty of room for a CC stork.
  23. This is why ill never go custom chroming only Factory chrome parts.
  24. Yes and ive recently got all the part numbers for the RHD version of the Stalk CC controls. Im just not sure if its swapable on a pre 94 model CC system.
  25. If you guys are looking for an alternative US parts supplier. Concept Z Peformance is the highest regarded Parts supplier, all Z enthusits should know about. I have ordered over $3k - $4ks worth of OEM parts from them in the last 8 months and i have never had any problems with them at all. As i use a 3rd party compnay to order parts from CZP for me i get Pricing on parts in AUD within a day of asking for prices and an order will always arrive at my door within 2 weeks. On both the aus300zx and 300zxclub forums CZP has always gotten 100% positive feedback from all members who post feedback and i would recommend them more then anyone else from the US. www.conceptzperformance.com
