  1. Murt & his mate, and also Jimmer's mate Daryl (don't know your forum name) For popping over yesterday to find out what was wrong with my zed! Jay ---
  2. Aye yes sorted now, can't really accept it in my head that it was the mines ecu. No ecu error codes but it was stiff a duffer!
  3. Well made a tool to push the tab open on the cas connector. All nice a shiny there no corrosion :/
  4. Goin out to check the cas connection now. You've lost me a bit on your first sentence lol, My car is a 95 and appears to have the newer s2 ptu in, but does not match the test results from the 95 manual?
  5. Well i've done the ecu diagnostic on the mines ecu and I get code 55, so it would seem all good there. I've got the PTU (series 2) out and done the diagnostic with a multimeter according to the workshop manual. Now i've triple checked what i'm doing with the multimeter and i'm definately not getting the same results as in the manual. In the table on tests 1 & 3 my results are the opposite way round, and in test 2 I get a resistance of about 500ohmms when there should be no continuity at all. I'm thinking it's safe to say that the PTU is not right???
  6. Just went to go out in the zed earlier and it's no longer starting at all. This is only about 1hr after having just driven it without any issues. Some of you might remember i change to a mines ecu a couple of months ago and i notice straight away that it took longer to start up, only 0.5 seconds or so but definitely noticeable. I go to start up and the starter kicks in but the engine doesn't fire into life at all. Not even a splutter or a murmur. Just the starter going at it. Anyway; I've checked the battery and even tried a known good one. No issues there, plenty of juice. external lights don't dim at all. Disconnected the fuse for all aftermarket audio install so it's not draining any power. Going to swap the ecu back tomorrow to the original, then it's back to stock specs. Checked fuses in the engine bay. Connectors to the temp sensors, ptu, tps are clean and un-corroded. Fuel pump is working. Noticed when the dash lights come on that the hicas light stays on and also there is a red light above the hicas that looks like a 'full beam'. Where to go from here though? jay ---
  7. I would say to get a Wacom off eBay. A5 or A4, the A4 being prefered. Don't go for another make, because all the big applications support wacom drivers and nothing else. Make sure you get a USB one and stick to the Intuos range (intuos 3 is actually quite uncomfortable to use so go for 1 or 2).
  8. Can anyone hazard a guess what my Cobalt Green zed has? It's an import and the tint ain't bronze.
  9. I've seen the Top Gear episode with about 6 or so Z cars from all the different eras but I caught this one on Dave that I'd not seen before! Popped it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvDEdW4bwD0
  10. On the emersons green retail park roundabout? 300's look mean from the front :)
  11. Sounds like no 'elastisizer' additive was mixed into the paint that was applied to the bumper. Should be able to flex that baby all day long and still have perfect paint. The 1 litre you have though - is it thinned already? Most custom auto paints need to be reduced down about 50%, if so you'd have 2 litres which would be more than enough.
  12. Put the mines ecu in my 95tt this afternoon. One thing I immediately noticed is that it takes longer to start the engine. I have to hold the key for twice as long before it fires up. Is this expected/known about? I can't imagine it being to do with the ecu relearning?
  13. Ar you are out of luck I feel. The data on the xda's is held in its memory with two batteries to supply it power. One bat is the big one you can take out which if you do you have around 20 minutes backup power via a small non removable battery. There is a small eprom in there which can be used to permanently save contacts and stuff but you specifically have to do this. Sure it is in 'Settings / Permanent Save' I've just gone to check the exact name but the battery on mine has run out too lol. Time to re sync.
  14. Well this is the way I see it. Aside from the normal comments already said this will be another excuse for an even lower police presence on the roads. The fun bit is that we will see sections of road that are between cameras turned into drag/race strips. Go whatever speed you want as long as you don't pass camera two!
  15. Truly & utterly shocking! http://lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=224101 Hand filed 'sin grooves' hehe. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kWdmOmzmZHI
  16. Watched a film last night (wasn't that good) with Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, John Candy AND a 300zx! Film was 'Nothing but Trouble' 1991.
  17. I need to get some of the grey alcantara for my series 4. If we can find a supplier maybe we could organise something to split and get the costs down?
  18. I dont have a wiring diagram but I do have a load of the correct diode things floating around. Shout me if you want one.
  19. FunkiSi: Did you manage to find anywhere local in the end? Reason I ask having just got back from protyre again, is that the inner rim on one of mine is no longer concentric. Need somewhere that can true it up.
  20. I got a good one by sorting out one of the guys at a company who supply batteries to the trade. £65 + some beer money. It's an 85 amp hour, which is the correct way round for an import and fits in the battery tray. Only down side is it is not quite as tall so I made a couple of wooden blocks to go on the top so the clamp is secure. If you want make & model i'll get it when i get home?
  21. I would dab a little clear lacquer on first, let it dray a few days then flat it down. If careful you should seal and pretty much hide the peeling areas. Bigger than a five pence piece might prove tricky though.
  22. Saw a white zed coming down on I think Bristol road I gave you a beep. Saw a red zed parked up in Portisehead cetre as well.
  23. Noticed last night that the belt keeps locking. It retracts fine except each time it locks so eventually to stop getting crushed to death I had to release it, let it wind all the way back in then I could slowly pull it all out again. If I let it wind in 3 inches then tug it its locked. If I let it wind in 6 inches then pull - it still locks. I got to let about 2 feet go back into the mechanism. What can I do?
  24. I found a rattle last night that has bugged me for ages. Under the front area of the passenger seat there's several little connectors in the ribbed cable sleeve. All loose jarring together. Made a noise like lightly tapping your nails against a wine glass.
