Why bother with UK clocks?
Surely what is needed is a regular speed converter/delimiter to adjust the instrument cluster from kph to mph. Divides the signal by 2/3 to convert. Then another one working the opposite way around wired into the output from the instrument cluster that is sent to the ecu. The ecu would be in effect receiving the original speed signal. Only the cluster would be displaying mph. Surprised there doesn't seem to be a solution given how many 95+ cars there are

Is it not possible then to snip the connector off a donnor car and then splice & replace into a series 4 loom?

Paint. Where did I go wrong.
As everyone has said its because it's 1k paint. It wouldn't be cellulose nowadays, it'd be acrylic based. What you've got to remember about a 1k paint is that it's the paint, dissolved in a solvent. Thats why wiping it with a rag socked in its thinner would take it off. It also never fully dries - it skins over. A 2k paint not its component parts when cured. It becomes something else, think of a 2k lacquer when cured as a layer of epoxy instead. The thinner will hardly affect it.

Plans for the new zed cave have started
Gotta be careful on the wood construction - over 15sqm footprint it should be 1m away from the boundary because of the combustable construction.

Not sure what the general consensus would be, but i've always thought the following things in carbon fibre would be really awesome: OEM wing mirrors - no craziness just the same oem design in gorgeous carbon fibre. Steering wheel side pods (not the control button fronts but the larger part that fixes to the dash) Top dash panel above the speedo cluster The plastic surround around the speedo cluster The steering column covering Interior door cars!!!??? Standard front wings The interior parts would really make it stand out...

Strange engine noise
What do you think about this engine noise? Not the whir of the tappets, but there is a slower more clunky tapping noise behind it (with a regular rhythm) Done my best to record it, you can hear the clunking quite well even with the bonnet closed. [video=youtube;sMJqy-vMw8c]

Split rim refurb
You probably would be alright bolting the newly painted centers back in. Test for air leaks and get them balanced, should be good

Split rim refurb
Those are autostrada modena's and they definitely are three piece. I will post some pics of when I refurbed mine when I'm back in the UK. Rim faces are stuck together with a tough sealant adhesive at the factory - I'd imagine something like a polyurethane sealant, as it was a nightmare to separate the faces. They would stay together even with some air pressure in the tyre I bet! Stuck mine back together with a quality silicone sealant and all was good!

tryed to get brace cylinder braces made
Can I have the drawing file as well? I could get a price having it machined in Shenzen, China. I suspect it would be a lot lot less!

3d scanning the 300
Late replay, but here is the spoiler as an stl here: Zip password = 300zx enjoy for now :)

3d scanning the 300
Hi guys The scanning acquisition software that controls the scanner can output various polygon formats, the default being .stl which is pretty common for all 3d scanner packages. Can also output as a pointcloud which is less 'processed' by the acquisition software. Both outputs require a fair bit of post processing afterwards. Will resubscribe membership so I can pm some of you directly who have asked about getting a file to look at.

3d scanning the 300
Wondering if anyone is interested in this sort of thing - 3D scanning. I plan on scanning the Nissan in as much detail as possible as I strip it down to rebuild mine in the very near future. I'll scan the exterior, interior and underside then scan each part as I remove it. With scan data as the ultimate reference it's quite easy then to to take precise measurements, and overlay CAD designs. You can even start to turn the scan into Cad semi automatically but this is a skill set I am just starting to learn. I am quite happy to make the data available for the benefit of the community. An example rough and ready scan of the Twins front bumper I bought, data needs some further post processing to make it 100%. Jay

35 mins to cover 29 miles across central London on a FRIDAY
I'll probably get flack for this but I wonder: What is the increased risk of a police vehicle driving throughout the city like that of hitting a pedestrian? It would take just one bad accident and the entire donor mission was, well, effectively pointless. If the police car did hit a pedestrian should it stop to help or should it continue on to the donor? Food for thought.

Where to buy components for Electrical repairs
I use Digikey a lot at work. http://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/DFP10112/285-1901-ND/2071332 Set it to UK/GBP. Its £12 shipping with UPS to UK (from USA) - All duties are paid by Digikey. You only have to pay the VAT which will be minimal.

- Matte black wrap...attempt #1!
Very nice, i'm going to be doing a diy wrap myself soon. What vinyl did you use and how much - length and cost :)- Driving to Germany
Mark, I recently drove a van from UK to Berlin & back, and also UK to Milan and back going through the Monte Blanc tunnel. If you go via France the roads are free from big lorries on the weekend as they are not allowed to drive (you'll see them all parked up.) Nice clear driving at 82mph speed limit! From Mb to Calais the tolls came to €56 so maybe you might pay around €30 goign via Riems then Basel according to Google maps. Passing through belgium the roads were much busier, and my speed was around 65mph most of the way.- refurbishing targa tops
Wondered what others are doing to refurbish the targatops? Problems with mine are: Glass is going milky around the edges in some places - not sure how to fix. Little bit of corrosion on the metalwork - easily sortable. Plastic end caps need replacing on the ends of the metalwork - easy. Plastic trim around the three edges of the glass. Brand new replacement would be ideal - are these parts even available? I'd happily replace the targa with a solid carbon fibre version if such an item existed :)- Garage Question??
huh, posted the wrong pic - am i missing something I can't edit my post!!!- Garage Question??
Well its sound advice to build as big as you can. I've been building my garage for the last 18 months, all me no labourers! 24x20 give or take a few inches. Would loved to have gone wider but am boundry to boundry. I can tell you that even 20 foot wide you will not be able to open the doors fully with two cars in there. So I am treating it as two cars storage or one car with workshop facilities. If you go over 30 square meters you'll need planning, and building regs inspections BUT the building regs guys don't really care - it's a garage at the end of the day lol. Here is a shot from inside the pit :) Got to get some more pictures as the concrete floor is in now, windows & doors and just about to fit a roller shutter on this coming weekend. http://dublove.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/garage/garagebuild-22.jpg - The Zed vs Other Cars
