  1. Saw you coming down a short road towards the Eastville roundabout, where the m32 is above it on a flyover! Looked rather nice.
  2. Well I bought 'Top Gear' magazine earlier today and there is a £1,500 used car feature due on this series of Top Gear. They take the three cars through the snow in France. Preview shots show: 300zx Celica Some Ford (not sure which) The Zed is red with white alloys and it looks like the passenger headlight doesn't work. Should be interesting viewing!
  3. Where can I go to get my aircon regassed in Brizzle? Pretty sure there is a sticker on mine that says R13a or similar - that means it's already been converted to the new refridgerant right? ta jay ---
  4. I was gonna get it off opieoils while the discount offer is on. I was thinking 3 litres of cheaper motul to completely flush the system, then 2 litres of castrol response super to bleed it up with. Is that going to be enough? ta, Jay
  5. Well i'm still in the middle of preparing my brake refit atm. Refurbed the standard calipers. Got braided lines & portefield pads off Dan @ Dta. 315mm brembo discs and caliper spacer for the front (DB Power) brembo discs at the rear So should be better than stock for sure. I could post pics over the weekend of the kit if it helps.
  6. No way thats a bit harsh. I've got an idea who it might be though. There used to be an old boy with an artificial lower leg who lived on the grass area near the hairdresser's and garage halfway along the Kingsway. He had a red Zed from new. Wonder if it's an auto.
  7. Well it wern't mine. Hasn't moved since Saturday since the battery on it decided to stop me going to Japfest lol
  8. maybe i'm crazy but why don't people fits high powered fan onto the intercoolers? Help keep the body of it cool? Like the electric fan rad conversions
  9. They look fantastic!!! Where'd you get em polished?
  10. Ok so i tested the cap yesterday on the road and all seem's ok. Riobenson, Can't do 32 lol that will take me like 24 hours :) I was just gonna put a few little blobs of silicone sealant on the wheel to hold the cap nice and securely then the locking pin over the top. But yeh i'll try and get a load knocked out over the next few weeks and paint em up!
  11. just took a look, no datsheets on their site annoyingly :( But yeh I think the only thing you can do at this stage is to email them with a full low down on what's happened and see what they have to say.
  12. Need to know what kind/brand of paint it is really. If the 1st three coats were 2k then i'm surprised'ish that it has cracked with another coat. The older solvernt based 2k clear is more akin to a resin when it has cured. It'll be inert to the original solvent used to thin it. The newer waterbased 2k clear is supposed to be equivalent but it damn well isn't yet. Take for example my resprayed wing, it has been affected by bird shit already, but the 13 year old original Nissan paint is 100% ok. Funny that. Anyway, did you get the paint from a bodyshop? If you did then it should be a waterbase, as solvent's been outlawed by the EU for a while now. This stuff is very picky when it comes to application and also recoating, some brands will react if you leave it too long between coats. So i'd say it's either the above of the place you got it from has given you a different type or brand of clear.
  13. Saw you heading along Muller Road yesterday, just gone under the railway bridge. I wasn't in my Zed (and going the other way), but I could see a lot of staring from people in the cars infront and behind me :) Certainly the Zed's have presence.
  14. Might be your lucky day mate. Don't have any spare caps as i've only two myself - and one is knackered. Anyhow, I made a mold. Only cast one cap out so far in resin. Was going to test it before I spent time casting more, as i'm concerned about how the resin will handle the wheels temperature, might warp badly. Hopefully a lick of 2k black paint and they will look sweet. I had forgotten I was doing this little project until your post..! lol. If it works, I can do some caps for anyone who wants em but it'll take a while.
  15. bump cos i found something - see pic/text :/
  16. 95 TT jspec auto. Only seems to happen once in a blue moon, notably when it is a colder wetter day. Noticed lately sometimes that my idle will decide to be about 1200rpm. I could use the car later in the same day and it will be normal at 800rpm. Something is obviously amiss though but where should I start to look? I'm thinking so far; check for vac/boost leaks. TPS voltage. the idle control valve? Ok so yesterday I started off by doing a boost leak test. Had to bung the oil dipstick tube as the air came outta there. Anyway I found a big leak on the hose that clamps onto the hardpipe behind the drivers headlight - sorted that out. However I have air escaping from the spot in the pic. Middle of the plenum towards the front, where the ribs bend down into the centre. Took the thottle cable cover off to see but I cant tell where it's coming from in there. Certainly cant see any piping. What can it be? Would be good to get some better opinion :) jay --
  17. At work we have loads of color swatches from various paint suppliers. There are some really awesome black swatches from Glasurit, round about 80 different blacks, both solid and metallic. There are some real nice very very fine flake blacks with a red/gold hue in them. Which looks sublime. Flake size is probably about 5 time's finer than your average auto metallic. That's what I'd go for :) I'd get yourself round to some places and look at various colour chips.
  18. Here's some pics i took of it this weekend
  19. Concorso d'Eleganza, Villa d'Este. Getting pretty damn excited. On Friday I fly out to Milan & then drive myself to Lake Como. Saturday I meet up with Julius Kruta from Bugatti, and take a bucket load of reference photos of his 57SC so we can make a model of it. Shouldn't take very long, then I chill with the Bugatti guys till Sunday. Sweet. Found a site with photos from last years event. http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/gallery.php?num=11751
  20. Hey sweet mate that's great news. :) If you see Simon Forester tell him the guys at Amalgam say hello. Also my collegue is saying you'll get some serious stick if you drive/park the 300 there on your first day lol :)
  21. Errrm 8ace, Your's is a JDM right? In which case you have kerb lights. That's what the hole is for!
  22. You could try using a claybar with plenty of lubrication. Probably will need a thorough machine polish afterwards though?
  23. Stopped in a layby to take a piss today. Left the engine running. As I got back in my knee clipped something around the ignition key area - either the key itself or the little release button. Anyway on impact there was a split second high pitch beep noise which I thought was odd. On pulling away though I noticed I had no power steering & the speedo needle was dead (the rest of the dash was working.) I pulled over and switched off thinking a fuse must have gone or summat, but nope. So I start her up again & all is hunky-dory..? Any thoughts?
  24. This is what I just bought off Dan, to match my Hid's. Jspec mine is and the last thing I got to do is find out what kind of bulb the kerb lights are. Hopefully I can get another led pair in there. BLB001 - H1/55W Xtreme White Bulbs (Mainbeam/pair): £11.00 BLB002 - H3/55W Xtreme White Bulbs (Foglight/pair): £11.00 BLB014 - 501/1W Ultra Bright LED Bulbs (Sidelight/pair): £12.00
  25. YAY! Only just though, realized last night I had been driving the car about since the 4th April with no mot :O I read it wrong and thought it was the 14th lol. Pass apart from a large imbalance in the brakes which is only just within limit. Good job i've got all the bits ordered for the brake upgrade.
