  1. Need to get some new double-sided tape to put one of my mud guard back on (the foam style ones). Had to get it of the old mangled wing. I did get some black foam 'automotive' tape however its err crap. I can stick it on and peel it straight off. The tape that was on the mud guard is a grey foam style but this stuff is strong. Seriously strong. I spent an hour peeling and scraping it off with my finger nails. Where can I get something like what was on there? thanks
  2. Definitely I cannot advise going AMD. Core duo/quad all the way. Lower temps and more performance. I mean how much are you looking to spend, and what do you use/want the computer for? What about the following? Primo performance unit on ocuk - £205 It's got more than the spec you mentioned - just needs wireless (cost is peanuts). It has built in graphics which will do everything just fine apart for 3d games. Funnily enough I have a ati x1600xt 256mb pcie graphics card sat here with me that I need to sell. Buy it off me then I can check your zed out lol
  3. I'd advise everyone to get some solvent basecoat in their colour while you still can. Give you an example, I've a mixing beaker here with dried Lechler Hydrofan water base colour here. I't's been drying for 8 days in my house and still I can peel it off with my nail. These stupid EU regulations to cut VOC emissions into the atmosphere are the reason. 2k lacquer will be outlawed soon - it's replacement is already here. UV curing. The downside is the use of high power UV lamps that cause cancer. Lovely... There's a reason for nasty chemicals - they work the best.
  4. Aye it's the lovely very dangerous & harmful 2 pack lacquer that's so shiny. All waterbase coats are currently matt in finish!
  5. You mean spray the whole car? Gonna have to fork out for some equipment which ain't gonna be cheap. One major thing is that the lacquer will have to 2 pack (paint with an activator)which is pretty lethal to breathe in. Need a full face air fed mask to keep the isocyanates out your lungs and eyes. You could use non 2 pack on top but it's so weak and will scratch real easy. I've managed to get a 2 litre's of solvent basecoat this morning as the new water based paint is rubbish in comparison. Plus the water base is twice as expensive. The whole point of solvents is to give the paint 'bite'. It's going to get hard soon though as solvents have been phasing out since Jan 07. Personally I don't think it's a good idea to try and do a whole car. Not unless you have a large space you can seal up from dust and lots of time.
  6. Jimmer, You ever heard of Andy at Wheelstyles in Iron Acton? He's been beavering away on my 3 piece splits for a little while now. Doing a fantastic job too. The rim can be corrected and fresh metal gently brazed in, ground back and re-polished. I went up the other day to sort out the paint colour so mine should be ready this week.
  7. Not sure what scale those are. They look bigger than 1:24. The black one looks pretty ace btw. There`s a kit on eBay at the moment which is 1:12 so over a foot long - has cast metal plenum etc - looks the bees knees! £200 though :(
  8. I wouldn't go through the hassle of swapping back to sky! VM definitely do not block torrents or anything else for that matter!
  9. Well an update. Taken me 3 months to get around to sorting this wing out. Went to visit a couple of places mentioned and left the wing with Spike in the end. He's gonna paint it but I'm going to fit it. Take it back down after and blend the door and bonnet in if it needs it. Will let you know the results!
  10. lucky, but i think the law stands that they have to stop you there and then otherwise theres jack they can do about it. so rather than instigate a chase.... lol When I first got the Zed I thought i`d give it some beans after turning onto a main road - so I did, but on the corner by the shop was a patrol car with two cops and a community cop. The look they gave me was enough so I shot down my road straight into my garage!
  11. Aye I saw this about a month ago. Looked like it had just had the wide arch done as it was being driven with the stock rims!
  12. stolen from another forum so no credit to me. https://www.wayahead-secure.co.uk/bims/pah_select_type.asp?showcode=310060&pricetype=11&filler1=motorshow&pahonly If you should get the error message 'all tickets sold' just edit the URL to change the number after "pricetype=" to a number between 1 and 26 until you get through. Then follow the email instructions! Thought some of you guys might appreciate it :duffer:
  13. black with white markings by day but lights up like the usual el dials do? Sure I saw them somewhere but can't find it now. Also seeing as I have a 95tt would it work getting the n/a ones i.e. without boost gauge seeing as i don't have one as standard? ta jay
  14. Tried Lynbrooks. Stumbling block is that they don't do under 30's. Same with broadsure. Man I wanna know where these low quotes come from. I.e. you get a better quote than me lol but i'm older, car is not modded so much and I live in the sticks near Bristol where nothing happens and no points/accidents! :(
  15. Fooking omg yay!!!!!!! :) I've been spotted at last haha. Got to admit I didn't see you, that temp road surface outside the church is bumpy as hell. Was going out for a spin on the A420.
  16. Well got a quote from sky... £1100 with mods, breakdown, europe cover and unlimited miles. Tried Livingstone Warman as well which was amuzing, woman on the phone said: Is the car modified? Yes. WHY? So I can go a little bit faster. WHY? Because I like the wind in my hair? Then she hung up on me. :(
  17. Insurance last year was a pain in the butt. First time owner of a performance car. Ended up going with C.N. with a really good policy, fairly pleased back then. Cue this morning I get the renewal letter - I was hoping a little bit of discount as i'd now have 3yrs no claims, so just pay em and it's sorted for another year. But NO! They no longer use Royal Sun Alliance as an underwriter so the next best they can offer me comes out at £1558. That's £532 more than last year. Excess shoots from £100 to £350, no breakdown cover or Europe cover. Phoned em up and they can take the £58 off. What a bum deal. So the hunt is on now to burn a hole in my wallet somewhere else :(
  18. Faisal: Sorry no pics yet, been making use of the good weather. Got them fitted after much buggering about. Managed to find the mounting brackets which I don't know how I missed. Got the glue off the pillar pod and removed them, put the gauges back in with the hood visor and proper mountings. Wish I had left them glued in tbh! You can't tighten the bracket up enough to hold the gauges properly without distorting the back of the gauge body :( End result of this? The bloody button on the front sinks in and you can't click it. So I glued them back in with araldite. Cue problem two. Straight out the box the little plug for the oil pressure gauge had the wires in the wrong order. So that didn't work and I had to phone Florida (the bloke was really helpful though). Third problem is that the boost gauge is way nosier than the other two. Waiting for a reply from Prosport on this one. Overall I would not buy them again. :( Still want pics lol?
  19. Who`s been parked there for the last two days? I`m only just round the corner!
  20. I can post some pics up later of the premium gauges in a 2 pod a pillar (from zcenter). I was gluing them into the pods the day before I saw your post. For some reason the premium ones don`t seem to come with any mounting brackets which is odd. Like Legrath says the pass through connector looms are short. I simply extended these a few inches. The sensors seem decent enough though - I`ll take pics of the whole lot so you can see what you get!
  21. It`s the thin felt type stuff that`s on certain bits in the cabin i.e. on the edges where the dash hood sits on the rest of the dash to stop the plastics rubbing and squeaking against each other. Where can I get some? I wanna take the interior out and put it back all sound deadened and with lots of this tape.
  22. Ah AC/DC. Amazing sound. Good for drowning out chav's too. Check out the Donnington vids. Wish I could have been there. 80 thousand people.
  23. Fitted it over two days last week. Total pain to remove the old exhaust which was the original Nissan system (13 years old!!!). Had no joy using a blowtorch - ended up having to drill out every stud :( BUT it all fits 100% spot on. Sounded a bit boomy when I first tested it out but has settled in nicely now. Loud but nicely loud. Also managed to solve the most annoying rattle too. With the new exhaust at around 1800rpm it made the rattle mega noisy. Managed to trace it back to a biro pen lodged under the passenger seat. Unbelievable!
  24. On the z center site there is a choice of two: E.S. or Whiteline Which ones to go for? Any anyone got any hints on fitting them? cheers
  25. Got some rims which are being refurbished as we speak, should be back with me in about 10 days. I'm going to shod them with 4 new treads but what sizes to go for? Rims are all 17" - Fronts 8J and the Rears 9.5J Currently the Rears have 255/40/17 Fronts have 235/45/17 However what's the ideal tyre size to go on them? I have standard Jspec rims at the moment with what I believe to be the correct tyre sizes 225/50/16). I am guessing that the speedo is calibrated to this so I should get as close a match as possible on a tyre calculator thing. cheers jay
