Spent the rest of the morning going over the all the piping, getting wet in the rain and hail. No missing pipes found and with the smoke concluded that at least on of my turbo's have given up the ghost. The plan was to send them away for inspection after cadwell, but clearly they didn't want to last that long. Didn't see much point doing any of the other sessions as I'd just be a rolling hazard and didn't want to risk damaging the car All in all, glad I went, proved to be an expensive weekend for one session(!) however learnt an awful lot about how the TA days are run and how woefully under prepared I was. Given the distance, I packed up early afternooon and started the drive home, called Jimmer and he kindly agreed to receive the car late on Saturday night so he can sort the next things out. Roll on Knockhill in June !

Blimey Cadwell is a long drive from Brighton, Knockhill next month is going to be a killer! Anyway, after staying in a local B&B, got to a very muddy circuit the next morning, and spent most of it running around trying to get unloaded, getting past scruteneering, signing on, MSA license, getting changed!! and going straight into the first practise session. It was wet & greasy and my first time at cadwell but good fun nonetheless. Spent 20mins going round, car was smoking and no boost :( I was happy that my cornering speeds were good but no power so spent most of my time keeping out the way...

So, time for updates. First off - a huge thanks to Jimmer, who in less than 2 weeks, removed a broken engine, stripped all parts off it, and fitted them all to a new short block delivered from Z1. Also identified damage to my heads & cams, and that my turbo's sounded a bit dry but no play in them. After borrowing some parts from other members due to short time frames, most notibly my old heads & cams that I'd sold to Mickey on here, car was up and running again earlier this week. John Dixon also helped double checking ECU timing. I cannot say enough to pass on my thanks to both Jimmer and the other members who helped out at this point. Drive back from Bristol to Brighton was good, lost boost about half way but put that down to a boost pipe popping off. I'd even taken a quick snap of my new brakes (couldn't fit as the wheels wouldn't clear!!) and put most of the stickers on. too small in my opinion, you want about the same width as the boot or it'll look wrong. Mine overhangs, but is inline with the flared arches, and that's something like 70" !!

you can get adjustable lower arms to push the lower part out and give more camber, otherwise you kind of answered the questions yourself re correct fitment! Looks like those tires are pretty stretched already, what size are they?

Went up to Jimmers on Saturday to start putting the stickers on, done most of them now. Also fitted my wing mirrors while I was there :) Was going to leave the wet tires to be honest and live with my 888's, but given the weather over the last few weeks, and no signs of improvement I've just ordered some Michelin Sports.

nope, a rebuilt box would be more expensive!, I paid about the same as Bob, got mine from Z1.

Less than a week to go and so much to do! Had some very serious set backs, but Jimmer has bravely stepped into the fray to help get the car ready. Keep your fingers crossed, going to be another seriously busy week!

EGT temps of up to 900 C isn't unheard of so you should go with the more expensive stuff

thanks, TOTB is a maybe at the moment, mainly due to the amount of weekends commited to TA, we'll see how the family cope with race weekends and go from there. On the plus side, my missus does like York :)

quick update: good news - boost creep is now fixed :) bad news - had an electrical problem after a few runs, popped some fuses and now the car won't run :( hoping it's something trivial so working our way through everything.

Thanks for the comments guys Some more jobs done, had a dyno session last week, still have some misfires and boost creep hasn't been fixed yet :( 98+ gearbox now fitted... Downpipes modified to help with boost creep per advice from SpecialtyZ, looks my new heads are flowing too much air and turbos going crazy! Getting up in 5.5hrs to drive up to Emerald in Norfolk for another session on the dyno to see if we've made some progress, fingers crossed!

yes, going to be very competative this year, you're doing better than I am though, still need to swap gearbox, brakes, fix mapping issues and sort alignment!

Some updates! Z1 order arrived including: new 98+ gearbox - hopefully the sycro's last various bits of trim & clips so I can get those fitted Z1 short shifter - current short shifter (ebay special from years ago) is rattling internally Have a mapping session next week so just double checking everything in preparation.
