  1. basic rule for AFR is you want it around 14.7:1 at idle/cruising, but around 11.5:1 - 12:1 on boost. You can play around with it a bit, eg richen it at high revs to provide a cooling effect, run even leaner on cruise for better mpg etc
  2. do a boost leak test if you can, be cautious though, if you find and fix one chances are you'll need to adjust the boost level on your controller
  3. PS on most dyno's you'll get 350-370 with 14psi of boost on stock turbo's and a generic chip
  4. Power curve looks ok, but the fuelling is silly. Once you sort the AFR out you'd probably unlock quite a bit more power too I'd say you have a boost leak so not all the metered air is making it to the engine, that or it's a real poor tune. What mods do you have?
  5. This, put a boost gauge on and go to a dyno for a power run to check it all out
  6. The VTC on the 300zx is on or off, it's not VVTC! So on/off based on rpm is more than enough. Basically you want it off at idle, on again above idle and then off at around 5000rpm, depending on your setup. You can look in the 300zx manual there is a page showin how the VTC works
  7. usually castle coombe in May
  8. FYI if the peak torque is much lower than peak hp then it's probably not enabled The good news is you'll get a good slug of midrange when you enable it!
  9. No issues with screen shots, from the notes on the map it sounds like VTC is driven off the PWM table, which is what I'm going to change mine to as it's more flexible. You can also check in the outputs tab to see what's controlling the output to Aux Out 36 (under ECU config -
  10. the VTC has to be controlled by the Emerald. It's probably setup on the VTEC switch in the software.
  11. You can give Jimmer a shout, he's in Bristol so a bit closer. Get the car to him, and replacement engine delivered to him direct and I'm sure he'll be able to swap it over quickly
  12. Hi, I run Emerald on mine too. I have wideband AEM setup and configured to the K6 so I can monitor AFR on my dash and on the laptop. You will be running a 36-1 CAS disc, same as me, and this will be programmed into the ECU already or it wouldn't run!
  13. I have a boost leak checker if you want to borrow it?
  14. no, swirl pot is a narrow tall tank with a second pump in it to feed the injectors. the original pump just keeps the sirl pot topped up.
  15. Entry Fees are reasonable, about 2k for 6 events. It's the other costs that get you, you need to budget about a grand an event to cover travel, accomodation etc. You also need a second set of wheels for wet tires if you run semi slicks. and... if you break anything you have to get it fixed for the next one :)
  16. Here you go http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?159543-Time-Attack-2012&highlight= Summary was a great experience but also very expensive process. Had a couple of failures as I hadn't really tested the car after the work done to it the previous year which uncovered a few issues. Rest of the season was then spent trying to catch up with myself!
  17. I've never had that problem, have twin in tank walbro's, also the SWB tank is different to the LWB so not sure if that's a factor. Is it worth checking your fuel pump 'pad' is at it's lowest position? Ideal solution would be a swirl tank
  18. you didn't say what your mechanical gauge reads under boost
  19. I thought it was around 450 fly which would go with the Uk numbers, I'd think most switch to a dual filter ecu even if they are still using one MAF.
  20. thanks, ping me when you're ready to order. PS why are you building up another short block, just reuse what you have. The larger pistons will make negligable difference
  21. sorry, I'm referring to child benefit, not the tax credit
  22. you should get it as neither of you earn more than 50k, it doesn't look at combined income
  23. very nice, a fine example and what a fantastic christmas present. I thought france didn't like heavily modified cars?
  24. http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=br&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=4&design=default&total=56 non ABS means 4 lines coming out of the MC
  25. yes it is, though it's a lot of work to do. I'm trying something on the rear to get the same effect, will report back next year if it works!
