  1. I would say no to the kerb access. You need the front in the air so you can get to the rear compressor bolt. I would put it up on axle stands mate. You will be able to figure it out much easier.
  2. Nice one, not seen that one either. A great start to the day, cheers.
  3. I had s 635csi that had an issue similar to this. Turned out to be a sensor but I'm struggling to remember which one, might have been exhaust temp or lambda. Problem I had was that for bmw to diagnose the issue, the fault needed to be active when I took it in to the garage. Sods law this took a few weeks for me to be able to get the car to bmw whilst running rough. Try a BMW forum mate, they might be able to offer advice and be more knowledgeable of your specific fault.
  4. Not come across a company other than nissan that makes the matrix, although the nissan primera matrix can be used as a substitute. Plenty of threads on here explaining. Try the search function mate.
  5. I totally agree with the sentiments, especially when the modification shopping list only consists of 'off the shelf Halfrauds' but, there are a few of us on here that obviously love the ZED but would like something.........different. As an engineer I would soon find myself extremely bored (as I am with my daily car) if all I done was polished the car. I love working on it and where possible, modifying it, be it engine, suspension or other small (in my mind) improvements. The first time I saw a ZED was at the showroom when my dad picked up his new 100nx. Wow, now that is a car I remember thinking and from then on I was in love. I've always loved 90% of the car's appearance but for me there's a few subtleties that I've always thought........'If only nissan had designed it like........?????' The motorsport and show scenes have always encouraged modifications. The motorsport obviously for power and control and the show scenes up to now have always been about the 'boom' of your sound system or the most impressive body kit and paint job. Look at the Beast for example, draws the biggest crowd at the ZED shows I've been to. It's all personal taste, circumstance and cash flow. My first ZED was a tricked out SE Nissan car and I still love the look of it. How many of us have a truly standard car? No new wheels, no new stereo, no engine upgrades, no changing the paint scheme.....la di da??? If it wasn't for those improvements/modifications half of us on here would be bored! But as previously said, hopefully the stick on mod days are over.
  6. Well done mate, sounds like a great start to the New Year. Good luck with it all and I'll keep the flowers in mind!
  7. Love it, good bit of engineering there mate!
  8. Lol,ain't that true. One week to go and back to the norm! Still, it's a little closer to de-hibernation of the ZED.
  9. And to think that the MOD are going to let this arm of the Forces, especially the RAF go and instead allow a business to operate SAR! Very sad indeed. It was a Navy SAR crew that picked my team up after a demo/recovery in Iraq, I would like to see a Civilian company do that!
  10. Yes mate, the standard ones.
  11. Not the same company mate, got my one from ebay. Very similar by the looks of it. There is someone else on here that has one fitted.
  12. We had to take 2 refuels from remote drumstock, these are scattered in the hills in big iso containers with an intimidating array of pipes and valves for me and the winchman to operate inside, they are more complicated than a starbucks coffee machine! We returned once more into the hills but (im not being dramatic) it was now harry darkers and proper snowing. We couldnt hang about but just as I was checking my winchman who was wearing an avalanche tranciever under his survival jacket I got something in my eyes. The right hand engine had just thrown a load of oil down the side of the aircraft and the pilots were clearly having a hard time hovering in the conditions. Good job matey, you and the crew! That's a wake up call when returning from leave. What you needed was a Chief Tech Heavy from Valley to help with your refuel and oil leak lol. Glad you all made it safely.
  13. I've got one of those ready to be fitted in the spring.
  14. It's a shame, where as the rear plate helps break up the lines.
  15. I've just been browsing the net at images of the ZED and the Yankees have definitely got it right! No front number plate! IMO it completely ruins the front of the car/bumper. There are some lovely bumpers out there for sale, but they don't look as good when there's a massive bit of white plastic screwed on the front! Why are our laws so different?
  16. Looks like the ones linked lower quite flat, the ones at Autosport would have made contact with my front bumper before the wheels engaged the ramp. My main point was if you have to drive on to these and then pump them up, why not drive on to ramps and be done with it ( if you know what I mean ). As said, it would be good if there was a system that could Jack the car up both sides simultaneously without having to move/drive the car, wheels on or off. For myself, I know that there are a few times that the car hasn't been running or is in my garage where it would have been great if I could have jacked the car without having to drive it on to ramps. They are however a great bit of kit if you have the money, for me I'll stick with my homemade low entry £20 wooden system, lol.
  17. Looked at these at Autosport international. They looked like a great bit of kit and cost £350. What changed my mind about the ones I saw was the back 'run off' stops didn't lower far enough for a lowered ZED, they are a bulky, the front will hit the floor if jacking from the rear at full extension, and you still have to drive on to them, so why not drive up on to normal, no maintenance ramps. What I would like to see would be 2 low entry jacks operated by one pump that could be placed under a static car and operated together, now that would be a help.
  18. I polished a plenum a few years back complete with throttle bodies and it sold for £80. Don't think it was worth the time and effort considering used standard ones sell for £40/50. I should have kept it for myself. Plenty of options for powder coating but it will need to be a colour that appeals or is wanted by the buyer.
  19. Yet another satisfied customer. Jeff are you sure retirement is the way to go, I would like to keep my car going for at least another 10 years! Glad you got it sorted mate.
  20. Good, but not that good! Personally, if I owned both those cars, I would want a great big fook off driveway leading up to my great big fook of house, with my great big fook off garage and great big fook off list of women that wanted to be my friend. At the end of the day, the Japanese think they are the inventors of everything cool, but my dad has just reminded me that I had a matchbox garage that done that back in the 70's!!!!! Eat that copycats!
  21. Looking fantastic mate and I'm loving the wheels. Great dedication to this project, well done.
  22. Errrr, surely there is an old green c-stores, solid, last a lifetime, professionaly built, high quality chest that a man with your resourcefulness could acquire, lol.???
  23. Sweet! Good work. I've bagged this thread in case I need it in the future should my adjusters fail. Brilliant attention to detail.
  24. Ooooh, might be sending some business your way in the future then. Not too far at all, always around and about Norwich. We'll have to meet up somewhere in the spring, maybe part of the EA meet scene. Thanks again, Tony
  25. Yeah, you're right guys. It's the clean long lines of the front that give the whole car it's smooth look. I suppose I will have to save my pennies for a re-spray. Thanks for your time Spin Doctor.
