  1. Colour, year and Jap or UK would be helpfull.
  2. Many Happy Returns!!! :duffer:
  3. I was looking at them vijay, but the big kitchen knife and mallet worked a treat, i just didn't think that the smallest of bonding would have been so costly, well lesson learned. Just to add i'd only recommend doing this method if your breaking the car as its quick, not for a keeper.
  4. I removed mine today, spent hours breaking blades and getting nowhere, i then got a large kitchen knife and a rubber mallet, pushed the knife through until i could see the tip on the inside then holding the knife by the handle, hit the middle of the blade and go right round the window. Had the first one off in 10 mins, done the second one exactly the same but missed about 1 inch of the bonding agent at the bottom corner and pulled the window and the fecker shattered in my hands doh!!! So just make sure you have cut away all the rubber before trying to free it as i couldn't believe how brittle these windows are, the window had dropped at the opposite side so i thought it must be free. A hard lesson learned but if you do it right its quite easy.
  5. Are the imperial nipples bigger than the metric? This might work out if they are. Cheers Andy. :duffer:
  6. Thanks guys, i've got the piston free now so i'll try the drilling and re-tapping route first before i try a heli-coil. I thought that bleed nipples were a standard size so hopefully i'll be able to get a slightly larger threaded nipple and i'll cut the thread to suit.
  7. I've just been out doing my rear brake pads and found the nearside piston seized so i cracked the bleed nipple to release some pressure and the nipples come away complete with threads. Is this a case a new caliper? I hope not as i'm already pissed off and have been loaded with the flu all week
  8. This can't be right even Grampion and the Highlands is 10% lol.
  9. Keep your chin up mate, thinking of you and your family. My wife said she'll say a prayer for her, i'm not religious myself but my wifes been praying for me since my heart attack and i'm still here with only half a heart working. Take care bud, hope she gets well soon.
  10. The thing that gets me is, when the cops charge you with a motoring offence you could probably fight it in court, when i got done my lawyer said i had a good case to fight and he was confident i would win but as my wife works i'm not entitled to legal aid so he said the lawyers fee's would be a lot more than the fixed penalty they imposed so it was financially better for me to pay the fine and accept the penalty points.
  11. Belated Birthday Wishes!!!
  12. I used abbrassive flap wheels to remove the stippled effect but i didn't even complete one side and gave up. I take my hat off to all those who have polished theirs. The £90 i paid to have mine polished was a bargain in my opinion, the polisher who done it said you need a machine to be putting out at least 30,000 rpm to get a good mirror finish.
  13. I started doing mine but it takes soooooooo long. I ended up taking it to a metal polisher and he did it for £90.
  14. You should be able to sit the TC on the centre shaft lip and get a friend to help rotate either the TC or the crank to help align the bolts, once you have located the threads on one the rest are easy.
  15. 27mm socket at the front crank.
  16. Quick update, he has checked the fuses and all are fine, he will try to log on and join later today. Also got a guy from Tipperery Ireland to say he will join, so look forward to deeing them on here.
  17. I guess the engine blows on the rollers??? Hope not lol. 340-350 at wheels.
  18. My brother in law has always been into bikes, from stripping them down to rebuilding them but had never ridden anything over 250cc, he decided to sit his test last year after riding since he was 10 (he's 39 now) he passed his test and got a CBR 600 and he says even that takes getting used to. I've never ridden a bike but he says its totally different controlling the bigger bikes as you have to lean into the corners to steer instead of letting the handle bars do the steering on smaller bikes and also getting your speed right on the approach. He says riding in the wet is a whole different story lol. He broke both his arms and collar bones after a car pulled out of a junction, had to have both arms strapped across his chest like a mummy and someone wipe his arse for months.
  19. "More power" in the words of Tim the Toolman lol.
  20. Thanks for all the replys guys, ive passed on the info and he says he will be joining the club. He said he hadn't checked for any blown fuses so here's hoping thats all it is. His car is a Jap Series 2 ,TT manual so the fuse box is in japenese so i've told him that someone has been kind enough to post a pick on here. He said he has always loved these cars and was holding on until he found a manual. Oh and he lives in Windsor.
  21. Thats probably a better idea, he might be a young guy lol, i've only spoken to him on the phone and by the way he was talking (very polite) i've assumed him to be older. His name is John, i'll try and get him to post on here though maybe join up.
  22. Will find out where he lives.
  23. Would it not work out cheaper to buy nend's JUN engine and build from that?
  24. Hi all i'm posting this for an elderly gent who just bought my UK clocks for his jap TT, very nice chap but i think he's been given bad advice. He says none of the dials work on the clocks he has bought from me, he said the origional clocks also didn't work except the boost gauge and the replacement clocks he bought before mine also do not work. He also says he has no power steering and the guy who sold him the car said this is because the clocks don't work??? I don't see why his power steering won't work because of the clocks, he is going to change the speed sensor on his gearbox as someone suggested but i can only see this maybe fixing his speedo and nothing else. Any advice i could pass on is very much appreciated as i hate seeing people taken for a ride. Thanks in advance, Steve.
