The rear quarter windows are the most difficult of all the 300Zx glass to remove. Even tho they are the smallest.

The usual tools are required. long thin stanley knife type blades and "windscreen -removal" cutting wire as used by Autoglass and similar windscreen companies. etc. The worst part is down the B pillar, the black bonding agent is about an inch wide here. my success rate to date is 3 out of 4.

As always the most important rule is NEVER PRISE or PRY. You must cut thru ALL the bonding agent. The glass then (literally) falls out. Dont drop it!!!! :nelson:

its a PITA as pete says. Just take your time removing all the glue/res

seen to many people try to add pressue and smash gave over.

if they aint to much to replace after reading that amount of greif id go with the brick option.

I'm contemplating that as they're only $145 each ;)

just thinkin about this, read your insurance police if you have windscreen cover i think your entitled to x amount of glass without it affecting your policy so then you could just throw a brick through it and have it replaced under your poilcy free of charge....

That's exactly how I removed mine. Just to add, use a piece of gaffa tape on the top to stop gravity spoiling the party when you've completed the task :D

top tip :D

I removed mine today, spent hours breaking blades and getting nowhere, i then got a large kitchen knife and a rubber mallet, pushed the knife through until i could see the tip on the inside then holding the knife by the handle, hit the middle of the blade and go right round the window. Had the first one off in 10 mins, done the second one exactly the same but missed about 1 inch of the bonding agent at the bottom corner and pulled the window and the fecker shattered in my hands doh!!!

So just make sure you have cut away all the rubber before trying to free it as i couldn't believe how brittle these windows are, the window had dropped at the opposite side so i thought it must be free. A hard lesson learned but if you do it right its quite easy.

Well I did warn you...quote..As always the most important rule is NEVER PRISE or PRY. You must cut thru ALL the bonding agent. The glass then (literally) falls out. Dont drop it!!!! quote :slap:

You dont use the stanley blade much. Just to make a hole in one place to insert the "cheesecutter type wire" The whole cutting job is done with the wire. :D

I was looking at them vijay, but the big kitchen knife and mallet worked a treat, i just didn't think that the smallest of bonding would have been so costly, well lesson learned. Just to add i'd only recommend doing this method if your breaking the car as its quick, not for a keeper.

Not really. The blade isnt long enough to do a 300ZX window.

Just get some proper wire for the job. Most Autoglass and similar fitters have it by the reel. They can usually be persuded to part with some for a drink!!

Why do you need to remove the rear quarter window though?

cos hopefully my car is finally going to a new sprayer who would like them out to get it totally clean (as paint stripper was used to get back to metal)
