  8. My brother in-law had the same problem (not a Z though) it turned out to be where the alarm was connected to the flasher unit/relay. One of the wires has broken free of the crimped spade.
  9. I started doing mine and ended up so pissed off, i took it to a metal polishers to do the job for me. (Its the one on ebay)
  10. I think wozzer had a set of recon tubs for sale, very cheap too if i remember correctly so i'b be surprised if someone hasn't snapped them up.
  11. Thats what my mate did, he said kwik fit actually changed a few small parts for new ones but the guy said there was little change so didn't charge him then halfway home the aircon starts blasting out freezing cold air and it didn't cost a penny. Still going strong.
  12. Testing the torque convertor is a specialist job as is repair as they are sealed units. (i could be wrong though) The cheapest solution could be to buy a good used (low milage) or new tc. The problem with buying a used one is you don't know if its full of crap that could contaminate your gearbox and cause more damage. Changing the tc is a fairly straight forward job but its a pain in the ass to remove the gearbox for a second hand tc only for it to fail a few hundred miles later. Best to check all other possibilities first before changing the tc.
  13. One of the torque convertors jobs is to allow the engine to continue turning when braking and at stop/idle, so if your car is stalling when breaking and you have just had the autobox done it would seem the torque convertor would be the problem. Or not lol :wack:
  14. If your car was ok before you had your autobox fixed it could be the torque convertor is not performing properly.
  15. Use a couple of half inch drive extensions joined together and a swivel joint on the end with your 14mm socket, you should then be able to get onto the bolt and work the ratchet from about two thirds along the length of the box. You might be able to squeeze your free hand up the side of the gearbox to help the socket engage the bolt (but you really need small hands)
  16. Take it to kwik fit, flikz took his in and they do whats called an aircon service for £45, once they have done the service if there is no significant change they don't charge.
  17. That worked a treat Andy, you da man!!! Do you know how to stop this pissing rain lol. :wack:
  18. I never noticed and threaded holes but will check now cheers Andy.
  19. Hi all, i'm trying to remove my back brake discs but they appear to be welded on. I have removed the calipers and slackened of the handbrake but they won't budge, i thought these discs were floating so any ideas appreciated. I have given them a bash around the hub section with a copper mallet but nothing. Am i missing something.
  20. Happy Birthday!!!
  21. I have the same ones for sale with the stainless decats and stainless downpipes if interested. Nice sounding pipes.
