  1. i joined earlier today after visiting crotchrockets web page
  2. I got the sound track to the first series (life on mars), this one looks like it will be good too.
  3. Action man in a Z! How cool is that lol.
  4. Just noticed your link to the previous thread lol. If you are feeling the vibration through the steering wheel then the chances are its from the front suspension/steering, when you can hear the grinding can you not pinpoint where the sound is coming from? Were you maybe braking at the time when you heard this grinding as it could be something simple as pad wear. I noticed you also said you wanted the car for a journey on Friday but its best to use the car as little as possible until you have found and rectified the problem. If you have to remove the hubs to check the bearings and they are damaged then the hub could be the only thing holding the bearing together and the race could be so badly damaged it will fall apart so you won't be able to put the hub back on until you get a new baring anyway. I'd say use your girlfriends VW tomorrow then give yourself more time to investigate the problem properly. Theres nothing worse than trying to do a rushed half arsed job, i've been there lol, ended up creating more problems.
  5. Totally agree, as soon as i win the £95 million euro millions tomorrow i'm out of here. When i was ticketed for my tax disc it was on private property and the cops were only there to check out a stolen abandoned car. It was only when i went to the police station that i found out unless security gates were in place to prevent the public entering the "private car park" it is still considered public highway.
  6. I had the same problem and went to the cop shop ranting and raving at the desk sergent, once i had calmed down the officer told me just to write to the to the address (i think is on the ticket)and explain that one of my kids was playing in the car and had moved the tax disc, (mine wasn't even on show as it had fallen down) the sergent was very helpfull and i felt a bit of a div afterwards. The result was the fine was cancelled. Go to your local police station for advice first as most police are happy to help.
  7. Also find an open space and drive in circles changing the steering from left to right full lock and listen for any wear, grinding noise from cv joints, wheel bearing's ect.
  8. Raise the car sufficently and safely enough to get under it and use a pry bar to move all the suspension parts checking for wear in ball joints and bushes, also move the steering full lock from left to right while doing this.
  9. Hi Rae, its Steve who sold you the headlights and boot trim. I seem to have lost one of my upper door trims (uk car) i just wondered if it was in one of the bags containing the boot trim as my wife might have put it in by mistake. I had promised the trim to another member but i can only find one and i've searched everywhere. All the best, Steve. (sorry for going of topic but i don't have your number lol) :mac1:
  10. The apprentice always kills the master though so sleep lightly lol.
  11. Just like in the old Kung Fu films, the apprentice has become the master.
  12. Has anyone ever built gullwing doors incorporating the targa's? :slap:
  13. If thats as far as Lambo doors open i'd never be able to get in and out lol. Fair play to the guy in the second pic, if that is a Corsa he's managed to build a time machine and made it look like a Nova. :mac1:
  14. When i got the insurance policey from Roadrunner it listed cars that would not be covered but unless your David Beckham there's no worries.
  15. Totally agree Ed, i would still have it if i could afford it, my mate who was in with me had a massive garage at his house so i used to work on my cars there and had this as the business address but i will seriously consider looking into again now that roadrunner will insure from home. As for the not worrying about getting quotes its great, the guys i spoke to at roadrunner said to just update them from time to time with what cars i had.
  16. You don't need to be a registered trader to legally obtain trade insurance, same as you don't need to be a trader to obtain and use trade plates. I was buying salvage cars and repairing them at home using Roadrunner trade insurance (i ticked valeting on the insurance form as salvaging wasn't on the list but sorted this out over the phone with Roadrunner) myself, wife, my mate and his wife could then drive the cars fully insured until i sold them on (although we still have them) i would still have the trade insurance but when my mate bought his Mitsubishi Warrior it came with insurance so although my mate and his wife dropped out of the trade policy it was still £190 for just my wife and myself so no longer finacially viable. If you own a few cars the chances are you will sell your cars at some point and buy different car/cars so you could be considered a part time trader, the other benefits are you don't have to go looking for insurance quotes for the new car as your already covered. I read the link vijay posted about the guy not getting his insurance payout, all insurance company's will try and screw you wether its car, life or home insurance, they are all quick to take your money but will do their best not to pay out.
  17. Yngwie Malmsteen, haven't heard of him for years when i used to sit up late to watch "The Power Hour" lol.
  18. Just remembered, my mate who was on the policy with me had just got his license back after being banned for 10 years, so with that in mind for 4 people it was a good deal.
  19. Hi Ed, it was about 2 years ago when i had my policy, i had just put down valeting as a part time proffession, when i spoke to them on the phone i said i also done some trading as i was buying salvage cars at the time also, the guy from Roadrunner was great and said that was no problem and that all cars i had including salvage, valeted and privately owned cars were covered. I think i just ticked valeting on the form as it was top of the list lol. They have probably changed their business address policy since as a lot of people do buy and sell cars part time from home. I even told them that our business address was my mates house and they said thats fine. I think we did get a couple of cheaper quotes but Roadrunner came out tops in an Adtrader survey at the time.
