Hi all, I get a strange noise when I turn the ignition on. Sounds like I'm pressing the windscreen washer squirt button. It seems to be coming from the back inside of the car. The noise only lasts a second and is not getting louder or quieter just the same each time. It happens beofre I start the car (not as I start it). Any ideas what this could be ?:confused:

If you really like it ask him that if you got the RAC or AA to inspect it would he be prepared to knock half that money off the price ?. You can always bid him down later. If he says no then walk away. If he is ok with it being inspected then he may not know of any problems. What's his reason for selling ?

I just phoned up my insurance company for a renewal quote to find out that my car is insured with them as a G reg '90. I explained to them that it was an '89 and they were trying to argue with me that my car was not made before '90. Geese, how fickle can you get. Then they said ok we will settle this by doing a trace on the car. They came back saying the car was a '99 Fook me, I wish !!!!. I explained to them that this is the year that it was imported into the country. They then put me on hold for a couple of minutes and told me I needed to fax across the Registration document. I've been with this company for 6 years now and never had any problems. It seems as though they are saying that my car was not covered if I had had an accident as the details are not correct, so I said ok in that case give me back the money I have paid you for NOT insuring my car. What a fooking pain in the arse. I think I'm going to pay someone else to go through all the insurance comapnies and get my car insured. It's too much hassle :mad: :( . I'm too scared to get any mods now, thats going to be a pain in the arse gong through all that. :D

Hi, I would do the following: 1) check the fuse as SRRAE has said. 2) check the lighter socket by plugging a mobile charger of or anthing else that may be powered by the lighter. 3) Take the console off and check the connection is plugged into the bottom of the lighter. To do this open the ashtray and lift the lid up to pull the unit out. Undo the screw under the ashtray panel. Take off the stereo surround (two screws either side of the vents (under small inserts), two screws in panel below vents. Once this is off remove the gear knob and the two screws at the front of the console (you will see these when you remove the stereo surround). you should now be able to pull out the console (need the arm rest open for this) and check the connection. Good luck.

You probably just pulled the window off it's rollers while the glass was frozen in place. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to fix, unless you have broken the clips off the bottom of the glass. When you press the up and down button listen at the door panel, it you hear the motor working, you just need to take the door panel off and she what the problem is.

The 300zx is quite light at the back so it does tend to whip out now and then. But the good thing about the 300zx is that it's so easy to get control again. It's almost as if the car corrects itself. If you fit Variable traction control from Race logic you can really have some fun. Most of the time I leave mine set to 15% slip unless it chucking it down with rain. Although people here state 5.6 and Stuart says 5.2. This is a standard 300zx Twin turbo. Most of us on here have at least an induction kit and modified exhaust so we are probably looking closer to 5.0 (especially with the launch option of traction control ;) ). Welcome to the house of fun. As James says where are you located. I'm sure there are plenty of member on here that wouldn't mind taking you for a spin.

Well I know I'm the odd one out and I really should sort it out but I don't have any leaks on my Targa panels :D. So I'll have to leave the leaking up to you ;) . Unless I can block the drain holes and cut a section out of the rubber. That way I'll have a few leaks and be able to join the "my targa panel leaks and smells of peanut butter" club LMAO. :D I was honest with my insurance company, but thanks for reminding me because it's up for renewal in a few weeks and I want to start scouting around now. I guess the search for insurance companies in here is gonna bring back loads to start me off :).

I lost the back of mine to black Ice last night. I was doing about 60 in 3rd gear on the three lane A13. The thing I like about the Z is that although it's really easy to loose control of it, it's also just as easy to get control back. Although I managed to avoid any accidents or damage to anything i still had to change my pant when I got in :D

Steve, that's not good after all the work you put into it. It's a shame to give up now. But if you do decide to sell still, who ever buys this. I will be very interested in the exhaust (if you deciede to sell it). Let me know either way. Thanks
