Improved idle and performance
I got a ext message from the missus at 12:00. She wanted me to get chicken and some brussel sprouts. I finished work at 12:00 but it's 18:00 now and I've just got in. Dam it's hard to find a chicken. Every pub I went to didn't sell them. I'm all up ith the christmas Spirit now if you know what I mean. I had to go to M & S in the end. Ho ho ho

Improved idle and performance
Well I guess that's ok then. :D. It's Christmas Eve and I'm at work. Sitting at my desk. Some times I wish I worked in MANUAL labour. Maybe I wouldn't get so bored. ;)

Improved idle and performance
Ah I understand now. So after adjusting the idle and reconnecting the AAC valve. Do we need to reboot the ECU (i.e. disconnect negative for 30 mins) to be on the safe side ?

Been anywhere interesting lately?
Ni hao Kinace, na ho ma ? ;) My missus is half Chinese. Anyone who met her probably wouldn't be able to tell that, just by looking at her. Came back from Hong Kong earlier this year. Was staying in Taikoo Shing just outside central. The sewage smell as you get off the plane is still there but no where near as bad as it used to be back in '93 when I was living over there (before I met my missus). Apart from that I was in Toronto in March, but funds are limited now and with doom and gloom of job prospects in the air I doubt that I will be going anywhee nice in 2003.

Improved idle and performance
I remember reading somewhere that the idle should be 700 +/- 50. So I guess I'll idle at 700 unless the car starts hunting. I think it's safe to say that anything between 650 and 750 is ok, as long as its a smooth idle. Thanks for all the info Andy.

Hi Steve :D , Sorry no one has replied to your question. I can;t really offer that much help. All I can do is offer a little reading for you. I have attached a couple of links which would tell you almost everything you need to know about the front and rear Suspension and Axles. Front - http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_11.htm Rear - http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_12.htm Steering - http://www.300zx.org.uk/tech_14.htm I hope this helps a little. Again sorry for not being able to help more. Take care ;)

Improved idle and performance
Top Dog, thanks Andy. I had my thottle bodies cleaned at the 60k service apparently, but I guess now is a good time to see if the person I took the car too actually did what they said they did. I have no doubt that they did everything they said but I guess you never know.  . I'll do all this tomorrow, I'll let you know how I get on. Would it be safe to say that if that didn't the problem I should maybe adjust the idle manually or would you object to this ?. Would have to disagree with you there mate, for example would you use that analogy for a cam belt :D ;) :p

Improved idle and performance
Thanks Andy, Now you put it like that it doesn't seem like a small task any more. Ok, let me put it another way. I have the following problems : 1) I get a petrol smell when I put the A/C on when the car is cold. The smell goes away when the car warms up. 2) My Idle when the car is cold 2,000 rpm. After 5 mins of driving this makes its way back to 1,000 rpm, but never drops below this. 3) I've recently had a 60k service, including cam belt, water pump thermostat etc. 4) ECU gives me 55, so I'm stuck ???? What would you recommend I clean / replace ?. Or shall I just get the Phillips screw driver out and turn the idle down to 750 ?.

Try this out. It's one I used to get my santa small enough. http://www.webreference.com/dev/gifanim/

Just change the size of it. You need to get it under 5000 bytes.

Irritating Squeak
The fan in the T-bar section is owned by the climate control. Some people have completely ditched their clocks. I had to buy a new one £175 from Nissan or £35 2nd hand from AndyZ.. Very simple to remove/fit.

Improved idle and performance
Thanks for this guys, James, When you say fall apart, do you mean that they become unuseable and I have to buy new connectors or should I prepare a crate of super glue ?. Stuart, I've checked the TT.net and think I found the article you were talking about. However it doesn't give me any diagrams to tell me which hoses he means. I guess once I get my head under there I'll find some. I do get the petrol smell from cold when I put the blowers on, it goes away once it's warm, I guess this is due to the heat expanding and sealing the pipes. I'll tighten all the clips and check for leaks. Marty, I'll check the earths and give them a good clean. Hopefully I won't have to replace any.

Improved idle and performance
Hi All, I want to give me car a good clean. No... I'm not talking about the body work or interior, I mean the engine. My car is 12 years old now and I would like to start cleaning the connectors and making small replacements as I am running idle at about 1,000 rpm and seem to be getting less than 200 miles per tank even on long motorway journeys. I know I should be at an idle of 750 ish, but I don't just want to turn my idle down as I think this will effect performance (correct me if I'm wrong). Although after running an ECU diag, I got the all clear code (55). I only ran Mode II checks and will run Mode I a little later. I want to start by cleaning the connectors for: coolant temp sensor, coil packs, power transistor unit, fuel injectors, mass air-flow sensor, coil packs, power transistor unit, crank angle sensor, throttle position sensor Basically all the connector sensors that report back to the ECU. I also want to clean my fuel injector connectors. Do you think that this will make a lot of difference to my idle and performance or should I replace the EGR, PCV's and Fuel Pressure Regulator and Fuel Dampener as well ? Any other tips or tricks that you know of could help me out ?

Test
Easy big guy ;) . I wasn't talking about the picture, I was wondering why Ajay said test ,,,, soooper it worked. You know if you change your avatar it changes all the previous posts you made, so I just though that maybe Ajay was testing something else. The statement "thick" is described in the Phenomologists view to Ethnomethodology as an interpretaion of a lack of knowledge or a mis-comunication of events. In others words... up your bung hole :p ;)... Merry Christmas. :D :D

No - you are ok. They have to officailly ask you to remove the image first. If you don't then they can sue your butt. :D

Damn!
I watched top Gear for the first time in about a year last night. What a load of cack IMHO. Most of the time they just stand around talking rubbish, I mean what was the uncool - sub zero wall chart all about ???. It seems as though it's everyone v clarkeson on that one, but somehow clarkeson always gets his way. Fair enough the Jag thing proved a point, that you couls get some extra speed, but I doubt you'll get much more on a Zed if you did the same. I got up to the point where they were sitting in their staff room talking about the sabb's/volvo's and BMW's that sunk on the shi, then I decided I could take no more and turned it over. Please tell me that 5th gear is better that this. I'll be tuning in tonight to find out.
