1. agreed both of my zeds got warm, first one more than the second although the metal gear knob in this one is either 400 billion degrees in this weather (nice! for once!) or minus 272*c... many people thought that lancaster uni had the coldest place on record for many years, it was lancaster but not the uni, it was a dam zed gearknob! My BM's also got warm on the cross gender tunnel!
2. Well it was either watch it burn or douse it in water...! Aye, they are very complex engines on that model of S4, similar to a zed in many ways rats nest of wires, vacuum hoses and sensors. It doesnt seem to have bothered it much but I've suggested he gets it all checked out first.
3. Whilst sat (luckily) outside my house yesterday a friend of mine arrived in his Audi S4, much to our shock smoke starting to billow out of the front right wheel arch. We all suspected a stuck caliper at first, but the wheel was stone cold after 30 seconds or so we realised it was something more serious, popped the bonnet whilst I and another friend ran into the house to find something to put water in (kettle and mop bucket...) Another mate dived underneath it and could see embers! So we doused the rear of the engine bay/turbo housings with litres and litres of water until the smoke and steam subsided... Scary stuff couldnt work out what was on fire at first. Once the drama had settled and could get a closer look, appeared that some lazy arse garage had left a very oily rag on or near the turbo housing/heat shield. As you might imagine it had got hot enough to ignite, amazingly and luckily it had started to smoke about 600 yards from my house. If he had been on the motorway at speed, the wind would have fanned the flames and probably have been too late by then. Or even not near a friends etc could have been game over! Needless to say we fished the rag out from it and hes going to take it back to the last place that did any work on it! So check your engine bay thoroughly after all work at garages for any debris left in there
4. WTF is that front bumper?!?! Looks like someone nicked his engine! hehe
5. K300 RAT was naf's wasnt it? Undiagnosed engine rattle for a time IIRC but never seemed to bother it much by all accounts. :)
6. mine mine mine.... :D New wheel colour. Old Wheel colours.
7. Drive the other way around the island ;) lol Perhaps the other side of the car is doing more miles.... hehe
8. Probe??! :D
9. Some pictures of the general arrangement. Gonna be great isnt it...!
10. The problem is the otherside of the drive is the house. Not a brilliant picture but its the only one I have of the front of the house atm.
11. hmm just had another look at it as they have actually gone now. I have realised that they cant start knocking holes in my drive, then I can certainly kick up a fuss. So far they are taking up a flag of their crazy paving and digging a hole. Not ideal but I suppose I cant really stop em doing that. What I dont want to happen is for it to stop me getting a car down the drive. As I searched high and low for a house with a long drive and a garage just for that reason! The string they have put up they are not sticking to at the moment so I shall watch, as long as it doesnt affect my drive material then I suppose its not to bad.
12. Will see what I can do, they are there at the moment working on it. I just dont understand why they want to seperate the drives! Seems stupid! Their argument is that they want to stop their kid (6 months id say) but they have a yard, twice the size of my garden, a front garden and a path down the other side of the house, so surely no need for them to play on the drive! Just madness. The gap I was meaning, is 9" or so, which was the width of the wall.
13. Following from the neighbours thread the other day. I've recently bought a house that is semi detached, next door the other way is a bungalow, complicated ownership/living arrangement but basically the parents of the girl do all the work on it. Now between our two drives there was an 18" high wall that ran about half of the way along and just stopped and it appears to be on my drive so thought well its mine, I want rid as it restricts my drive bingo. So I figured Id be doing everyone a favour if we just got rid of it, meaning it was easy and safer to drive down and it didnt look as silly. I explained my plans to which my horror they stated they wanted a 6 foot high fence down the middle of the drives! Just totally stupid in my opinion. Anyway, a friend and I removed the wall yesterday (more on that later) and now they are on with putting this massive fence up which is going to not only restrict my drive (by the looks of the string they appear to have put up and it looks like a foot into my drive) but the light into my kitchen as it looks out over the drive! The wall was a slight problem though, it started of sat on top of the concrete slabs my drive is made of and a few feet in it dropped into a gap "between" the drives, even though it was built on my side of the gate post at the road end. I was hoping that they would be sensible and realise its much better without and just get it all tarmacced between us and make it look nice. Now its going to be my old cracked concrete slabs and some awful crazy paving on their side. Not really sure what to do now!
14. fook me its like two old women nattering! lol Steams, perhaps this sleeping problem is not doing enough work....:whistling: lol I know I sleep much better when ive actually doen soemthing rather than just sitting in front of a computer keyboard warrioring! hehe
15. If its done so few miles in the last few years its probably ready for a good service/cambelt etc so I would take it to a specialist such as zedworld to have it all checked over and a clean bill of health. Low milage one owner UK specs are getting VERY hard to come by so its certainly worth looking after!
16. I also had the same clutch when I had my grey zed converted from auto to manual, clutch was fine, flywheel was bent! :( But of course no one knew until it was all back together so it used to judder the clutch pedal on letting the clutch back in. So Id get it all checked first, other than that the clutch was light and strong :) Looking a good build mate, I like S14a's a friend of mine had an s14, still with its original sr20det running around 400bhp that another friend of ours built for him, was a nice engine but he was never so hot behind the wheel so a bit of a waste really!
17. its a 2wd 3.8 so band L, that list showed it £790, obviously not been updated to reflect new prices but that is awful! And all to support the sales of new cars eh... I suppose if your spending 80-120k on a car, best part of 1 more isnt going to hurt!
18. I often look at mine and think they are really too large! When Stenorth had my car it had some volk TE37's IIRC on it 17" and they were lovely, infact part of the inspiration to paint them bronze! Which has made them look a bit smaller so happy with that :)
19. Personally i prefer 17's on swb cars especially, 18's are just a bit too large for the car IMHO, LWB can get away with it. Older cars I dont think suit huge wheels, the bodyshape and arch proportions just dont seem correct some how.
20. I have to say the Neighbours at th house iv just bought are brilliant. One of them has helped me do work on it and also insists on putting my bins in as I'm normally away. the other day I was cutting socket back boxes into the adjoining wall of the houses and after the first one went round to see him and apologise for the noise and see if I could buy him a drink. He wouldn't have any of it and said he thought it was funny as he's doing work on his house as well so he was very chilled. Bearing in mind I'd spent 3 hours braying fck out of the wall with a hammer and chissel and an angle grinder! However the otherside of me are a bit odd, want to put a fence between our drives for some weird reason, fine but I ain't paying for it!
21. Well hes done 11 hours! thats got to be a record!
22. What do you want to spend?! As for a turbo, the performance is just fantastic, I personally couldnt help feeling that if I bought an NA id be thinking, if only it was a TT...
23. lol mods must be asleep! Actually we could run a competition within the registered users to see who could keep a thread akin to this going the longest before it got locked/changed... Ironically the prize could be a years subs... haha
24. Fair enough :) Shame u had to stop making them, what sort of cost would they have come in at? Always a market for highend stuff even if you dont shift that many! I only say, because they look identical (on the outside at least!) to my D2's thats all :)
