what's wrong with this zed???
Not seen that one before, not that far from me actually.... Awful rear lights, some random silver trim hanging of. No interior or underbonnet shots. Vague description.... I had to look hard to find that it was a manual. Its also a UK model (well its got uk bumpers). An assumption made of UK models is that they tend to be more rotten. In some cases this is true but not always. Lastly, its so cheap people do think whats wrong with it? Must be goosed..... But a TT manual, for £1500 sounds great!

Selling Wine..help
http://www.antique-wine.com/selling-wine/selling.aspx I think the value does depend on how its been stored etc. You could give them a try though.
-
Had a loom at this today..
Been stored for 8 years as a non runner?! Ah if you know them and have a spare engine for it then yeah fine, shame its not a s14a though, I much prefer the later front end.

Help with customer care issue
I wouldnt expect any sort of warranty on used parts other than DOA, unless expressly stated. Possibly the lesson learnt is to make sure all parts go recorded delivery, then at least you can say it was posted here we have proof... etc. I do agree with some of the messages above though, perhaps the emails you sent back were not hugely informative. I can appreciate you have always got alot on and you are very busy but perhaps a few seconds more taken to reply might help these situations. End of the day it is highly unlikely that the ECU is killing the injector, more than likely the 20+ year old wiring loom thats developed a fault. The guy should think him self lucky to have the advice and help from you, and for you to send another injector out, FOC, without any return of the other is far better service than 99% of companies out there! Its just a pity that circumstances have conspired against you on this one. How do you know its not another injector thats packed up and he is trying to pull a fast one?

Has a Z32 ever competed at TOTB?
I'd love to have a go but I doubt my zed would be much cop. If I had the time and money it could be made OK i think.

new Wimpey Eggbox

another manual conversion thread :( :(
Well I provided all the parts for mine, the place that did it charged me £500 to fit I think, but that was 4 years or so ago. That also included a few bits like an MOT and oil change etc.

another manual conversion thread :( :(
That lasted about a week then ;) I had my first zed converted by a chap called Phil who works at a garage in manchester, Z world do of the shelf conversions I believe (even comes with a warranty IIRC). There are plenty of threads about it, and as long as you have the time, strength and tools + all the bits and somewhere to work on the car it should be do able. However, I would have thought that for doing it the first time it would take you more than a weekend but im sure someone will be along who has done one to advise on time scales

Correct size battery for a 300zx
I would like one of these, but seeing as its nearly a 300 mile round trip, it would cost £50 in diesel just to get it and annoyingly I dont have any jobs down that way for a while. Cheers mate Yeah I think I will, as usual nothing is ever simple. I did think it was wrong but I didnt have the car with me to check (obviously as it has a flat battery). Your probably right about the z31 data, although his book listed both the Z31 and Z32

Correct size battery for a 300zx
hmm, local motor factor disagreed and said a 71... which I now have and I have a problem with the length of the wires. Looks like i'll be taking a trip back, as a close look at a picture of an 068 shows that I wouldnt have this problem of trying to move an earth!

Correct size battery for a 300zx
Hi guys, Very quick one need to buy a new battery for the car, what is the correct size? I think its an "068" size but I'm not sure, is that correct?

Why am I getting such poor MPG in my diesel?
Sounds silly but have you worked this out manually? Or are you taking the cars readings? I doubt it will be so very wrong but its worth working it out properly so you know exactly what your dealing with. I have the 120bhp engine of that in my astra, its done 71k now (i've had it from new) and has returned 44.9mpg over the last 71k (ive never reset it!) Now if I work it out manually its actually just over 45mpg but its very close. I do tend to drive at 85 or so everywhere, great these private roads that go to all my destinations! With a heavy foot and the back of the van full with boxes of cable, pumps computers etc. All fairly heavy. Having reset the trip 2 computer about 38k ago as an experiement I drove sensibly for a weekend and it did 55mpg+ but I have read about the DPF getting blocked and it does say in the manual about it only cleaning >2000rpm when the engine is hot. Do you do many long journys at a higher engine speed?

What to do with my engine
I said it first, you can have my engine ;) Runs well! Just needs to be like 600bhp... Well I say runs well, it has a chronic lack of electricity at the moment. Batterys died, I cant complain though it is the one it was imported with! Nice night last night, went out to the old girl turned the key, click click click.... bah i'll take the astravan instead then!

What to do with my engine
He is allowed to donate though... give it to meee! lol Will seeing your engine regenerate any enthusiasm for a fast zed? Maybe worth buying a tidy shell for buttons and putting your uber engine in?

Tan Hill - Date TBC
You wouldnt want to camp at Tan Hill! Monsters would get you in the evening. This was intended as a joint meet to be honest with the NE crew. The other issue with the NW is that its quite a big place and I know its not always easy to get from place to place. However, have you a pub in mind that you would like to meet at? The very first meet I went to was at the Norman Jepson pub, which is next to the premier inn just of J31a at preston (I.e top of the M61)... Where in manchester are you roobarb? Stockport or Salford end?

Tan Hill - Date TBC
This is the only problem my friend! No one in the NW ever up for a meet! :)

will i make it?
Assuming its all in good order and doesnt overheat then there is no reason why it shouldnt make it... Most I have done in mine is probably stirling and back although that wasnt in one hit of course but thats a 400 mile round trip. The only problem is that it snowed in the middle of it so the Z was stuck at a hotel for 3 weeks...! But its unlikely to snow in Wales at this time of year, let alone norfolk so you should be ok :) If your so worried, take some WD40 and some simple tools with you. Check tyre pressures and tread wear etc and make sure your AA cover is up to date!

New project
Are you putting a VG30DETT (T!?) into an s14 then? Cool as if so...!

Storing the Zed's
Are they living under cover or outdoors? If in doors I would give them both a good wash of and dry of before leaving them. Also if they are living indoors i've been advised before to leave the windows open an inch to make sure air can circulate in and around the cars. Its not such a long time to seriously consider taking the car of its wheels unless you were short of something to do. Infact look at this, basically what I said... lol http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/laying_up.html

Thank you Mikey Bean
