Don't you just love it when stuff just suddenly starts working again!
Back on topic regards stuff not working, i've had my 300 6 years and the cruise control never worked, i'd checked all the diags and relays to no avail, then when groover did my LED conversion i got a better condition right side pod and it worked, it was the pod all along, must have been a faulty switch. Don't you just love free fixes.

Mines only comes on when i turn the lights on, should it come on when you open the door, seems a pointless light otherwise.

Specifications
I've seen mpg quoted at 18mpg for us models which have smaller gallons, I avg around 16 and as good as 26 on a constant 70-80 motorway journey.

Car choices dilema!
All depends what your budget is really, i had my 200sx S14a for nearly 5 years and spent very little on it probably around a grand for services and maintenance, a 300zx is a lot more expensive to run imo, and more prone to go wrong due to age and complexity of them. They are both very nice cars to drive but the 200sx is definately more agile due to weight and seems more a buzzy turbo car whereas the 300zx is a brute of car and is great in a straight line but unless you have a fairly good suspension setup ie lots of new parts as these are old cars it is not a twisty b road car. So if you want some fun in a nice handling car get a 200sx s14a if you want grunt and looks get the 300zx.

Air con- use r24 or r134a ?
I've just had mine done with r134a, they put a new connector on sucked the old out, dropped in a can of r12 > r134a this contains the necessary oils, they did this using the high pressure line but put a low pressure connector on as thats what the can uses. Seems fine much colder than before.

How much did you buy your zed for????
Paid £4k for it in November 2002 and spent around £4k on it this includes all new parts, servicing, tyres and respray.

auto feels its going to stall when coming to a stop
I would say try and get it on a consult diags and see what that throws up, i had similar faults and my iacv and tps were out.

speedo convertor
This is how mine was setup, seems there's a yellow/green and green/yellow, mines connected to the one with the fat yellow stripe. HTH

Honda NSX ? Or Nissan 300ZX??
Its seriously lacking in the torque department though, and has a slower qtr mile than a standard zed guess it runs out of steam at higher speeds.

sound when watching dvd's
on seconds thoughts if your not connected via hdmi you probably wont have these options, there is a dynamic range control in the BD/DVD video settings try setting that to ON
-
sound when watching dvd's
on the ps3 from the main settings menu, go to the "audio output settings" press right a few times select manual, then choose a 2 channel option, mine has pcm 44khz and pcm 48 selected.

Honda NSX ? Or Nissan 300ZX??
I like the NSX but how do you think they would fare as a daily driver? Are they a harsh ride, I like firm but not bone shattering. I still think Honda borrowed many cues form Nissans Mid4 design though, bonnet area and side scoops are almost identical.

Air conditioning not working
When you say it doesnt work do you mean you can't here the compressor clicking in? Its possibly seized.

overheating....i think!
Well there will be some water in it but you cant see round the neck bend too well, follow sussex stu's guide to filling the rad on 1st page, at least if you an fill it to the neck you can see if its losing any water next time you check, the brown stain is just rusty water stains i would have thought.

ECU socketing
If the ecu hasn't been opened before the screws can be really hard to unscrew and they are quite soft metal, I heated them up with the soldering iron tip and they were much easier to undo

Still got to be one of the best looking cars on the road
One thing that I notice now is how small the zed looks next to new cars, I was parked next to a new shape focus the other day and thought wow new cars are big. When these cars were first launched they must have seemed massive. I just love the low height and wideness of the zed though, and how much room you have in the cabin also. I just cant help looking back and my car when I leave it a car park and think what a truly awesome looking car.
