Mileage maxx on ebay
Lol, that's a hell of a turnover! Causing turbulence in the intake is going to distribute the fuel better but doesn't most aftermarket air filters cause a similar effect with their design anyhow?

I hope thats a joke! lol, did make me laugh though specially because i'm hiding in the house until saturday as every time something goes wrong, oddly vodka as the same effect.

Brakes and Wheel decisions!!
just been looking at race spec evo's and scoobys that arent that far off the weight of a SWB and they dont have brakes bigger than 356mm I ended up not doing anything last time i looked at changing them lol :smash: I'd be gutted to get rid of my wheel tbh so it's decided then, look at 330mm disc with my standard wheels. next question, how do you work out the correct brake balance?

Eggheads
Barry, gone?? he was why i watched the programme lol  He was infaliable for the first couple of months. Then lost his way! he's probably quietly been given the boot! Reminds me of that little robot thing on the bbc that is about the switch over to digital terestrial tv.

Brakes and Wheel decisions!!
Hmm, i know, i've read this as well. just measuring up and i have 85-90mm between hub and face and 380mm to the wall of the alloy. How much of an expansion margin do you need to leave, as i think the biggest sized discs i would ever get under mine would be 330mm is that enough disc to prevent heat soak? I don't think i'll have any problems with fouling on the face of the alloy as there's enough clearance to get my hand between the original caliper and the alloy though.

Brakes and Wheel decisions!!
Hey, I'm looking to put bigger brakes on my zed as mine are shot and while replacing i may as well go the full monty on them. :p I currently have Rays Racing Volk TE37 apparently,( i don't have scooby about wheel brands etc i'm afraid), all i know is that there light as hell and that's what i like. Thing is there only 17 inch and no hope of getting bigger brakes behind them so i need to change them. What i want are some very light 19 inch wheels with the right dimensions ,offset and size etc to accomodate either some larger diameter disc and bigger calipers. So suggestions on wheel brands and specific wheels if you could, And what brake set up is best for regular track days? i.e. experiences of brands and combinations of calipers and discs. Tar, Ste

What to check after a zed hybernation?
More heat is produced and more quickly, which i guess is FunkySi's POV by the engine having to move all of the power train opposed to it sitting in neutral being rev'd.

Safety boost on EBC
They don't like it if the exhaust gas has a lot of hydrocarbons in, if you run rich it buggers them up!

Safety boost on EBC
Sweet, that'd explain it been intermittent. Could be mate, i know they balance but thats not going to equalize the pressure seen by the solenoid compared to the feed to the controller, might be enough of a difference to upset it a little. I've started on looking at that fueling problem today, waiting on a pressure gauge now.

r230 4.1 diff
I've got a couple of ideas, will you know if i find anything.

r230 4.1 diff
Bugger! I'll have to make friends with a gearbox specialist then!
-
r230 4.1 diff
Lol, i wouldn't chance my luck, i'd want to understand what needs to be measured or the tolerances required, how to do install it, but its a cog at the end of the day, not a particularly complicated bit of machinery and i'd prefer to take my time and learn something. Anyone suggest a website or book i could look at?

r230 4.1 diff
What's involved with installing leader gear diff ring into a diff? Where does the skill or complication come into the job? I've been thinking about installing one for awhile but i begrudge paying someone to fit it when i could do it myself!

Safety boost on EBC
Yeh, let me know when you find out!

Safety boost on EBC
I'm going keep quiet then as i've not played with those before. It doesn't sound from the description you've given that the boost is being applied to consistenly but if there's no adjustment with them, you're kind of screwed!! :mac1:

Safety boost on EBC
That sounds like there isnt any problems, you just need to have a play with the settings to get it setup right. I'll have a quick look to remind myself but sounds like its oscillating at higher revs, the gain might be too high?

Want one!
Hello there! :D

Safety boost on EBC
Cool the solenoid sounds like its working. You said you made 12 psi, then it quickly dropped off, was that smooth and did it dropp off at higher revs rapidly?

Safety boost on EBC
It'll only be applying spring pressure if the feed from the intercooler is not connected to the solenoid right (about 5-6psi), iirc t25's have a normally open actuator that closes up the wastegate as boost increases, the pulsing is controlled by the ECU via the factory solenoids so that it can close off and regulate the feed from the intercooler pipe work at a particular boost level which would be about 9psi, in "safety boost" the ECU just closes the solenoid so the actuator is just sitting on the spring pressure. If you've got everything bob on, first thing to rule out is a boost leak. If that's fine, check to make sure you've got power to the solenoid, stupid but i did that first time round. Next would be to route your pipe work directly to your actuators and go out for a blast, if you get high pressure then that means there's nought wrong with the EBC, you have a good sealed system and it's to do with your solenoid. Above is not regulated and it will just keep boosting until something gives up though so be careful! If you don't, you could have a lazy spring on one or possibly both of your actuators meaning the actuators are not fully closing up at higher boost levels. HTH, if not i'll surup! lol

Safety boost on EBC
Do you mean the highest it'll go to is 7.5 psi? You negate safety boost when you disconnect the solenoids, the ECU has no control over turbo pressure anymore and you're relying on the fact that EBC is reading correctly and the settings aren't extreme. That's roughly 0.5 bar, might not be the same thing but i had a boost leak and a dodgy actuator not seating correctly that produced those same results.

fuel pressure gauge
Spot on! exactly what i was looking for!
-
fuel pressure gauge
Cheers, do you know what size the fuel lines are?
-
fuel pressure gauge
Any ideas where i could get a cheap one and is there a tee in valve or do i have to make my own tee in, if so, where's best? Cheers,
