Been for a drive to get 3 stud exhaust gasket and found this one fits...... BOSAL 256-846 Not sure what it should fit..... but thought it might help someone if they need one as nothing listed at local motor factors..... I just took the spare turbo and manifold and did it by size..... Well they just told me to go out back and look myself...... I'm glad they know me in there...... lol Just need to fit it, check fluid levels on coolant, engine oil, transmission and replace diff oil...... not much planned today.... lol Such a nice day I am also now building the boot install for all my audio system..... just need to plan something different and as oem as I can get it....... I love sunny days..... lol

That's weird as I had MOT last friday and No emissions test carried out as it isn't required...... well that is what my tester said...... and he's been testing my cars for 21 years..... I will ask him about changes tomorrow as I can't find any reference to them......

I finished her off and went to pick my 5 year old up from school in her......lol..... He was grinning from ear to ear...... He loved it....... and I loved it...... think I was grinning more.....lol Dropped him off then went for a drive to local Tesco's and got the cleaning guy's to wash her..... she was looking nice.... lol I did find a couple of niggles..... but going to try and sort them tomorrow...... blowing from O/S down pipe to decat pipe..... the 3 bolt flange.... There is also a whining noise like a rally cars syncro mesh when I accelerate and louder when I decelerate in 2nd ..... sounds like auto box or diff...... but have started an advice thread for that..... I had a nice leisurely drive and was enjoying the loud exhaust, the smell of the engine from the exhaust leak and new gaskets getting hot, oil burning off, etc...... it was wonderful...... Then I had a muppet in a merc pull up next to me at the lights and revved his standard exhaust....... So I went into neutral and gave it 4000 rpm...... he stopped grinning then.... I pulled away slowly and the idiot gunned it through a speed camera.....lol I love my Z............ I am soooooooooooo happy now....... Thanks to everyone here for the support and nudges to get her done...... I won't forget it and will be doing the same for other members....

I am wondering if it is the diff or the auto box? Any suggestions as to what would make it sound like this? And best to dip auto box hot or cold? Cheers...

See......... Hoard away spin.... Hoard away.... I have a garage full of parts like a breakers yard.... Lol Recently found all the parts I need in there apart from water pump..... I even had parts to help other members out.... So to the, Nay sayer's and the tidy posse..... I say fill those empty spaces with parts a plenty, let chaos rule, Share empty garages and sheds with our broken Z's..... And help keep the parts to keep our future generations poor but happy for many years to come.....

Well replaced water pump with OEM one, SFS hoses and put everything back together........ apart from the ribbed belts........ as the ones I picked up yesterday were too short....... Going to pick up new belts on the way to work today so I can get her finished on my day off tomorrow....... I also found my old viscous coupling in a box in the garage and it seems okay after a clean up........ So tomorrow is finish, tax and go for a nice long drive........lol

Well it definitely is not the head gaskets....... passed MOT friday and then the water pump went into self destruct mode due to a slightly bent fan coupling by the look of it..... I think it may have been off centre enough to destroy the bearing in about 10 miles from new..... It was a pattern water pump so not 100% sure..... but not taking any chances on this again as it is now definitely bent.... could be where it hit the pulley when wobbling around, but knackered now.... Well I have stripped her and got water pump off and found the impeller is bent where it has hit the casting on the block..... the bearing is destroyed in it and the shaft wobbles about everywhere..... I am also glad I did this as I have found the tensioner for the cam belt wasn't released and I had left it compressed..... If I hadn't read Jeff's thread on this I wouldn't have even thought to check while I was there.... I am also replacing the front water bypass hoses with SFS ones while I am there and new belts for the power steering and water pump / alternator...... Plus repainting the water hard pipes, cam covers, bottom pulley, new bolts, new rubber grommets.... might as well while I wait for a pump......

WOW Ted...... you have been very busy........ when you collecting my parts that need polishing?...........lol Now I need to get the damn cloth and polish out..... lol I found the cause of my water pump failure and it appears to be the viscous coupling is bent..... fan was unbalanced and literally destroyed the water pump in 10 miles.......

OMG........ not only is he a genius with a Z........ He speaks international Z as well............lol
