  1. I think I was about 80 quid, one and a half tankfulls for the journey with some left, but that was 5 years ago when fuel was cheaper. Cheers John
  2. Tommy I bought a 300 in maidstone and drove it home to Glasgow (overnight bus down to london, then 8 am bus to Maidstone was happy with the car then drove it home) the drive home was like an adventure. I still have the car and am glad even though I have had good and bad times with it, part of the 'fun' of having a 300 TT. Cheers John
  3. Thanks for the replies guys. I am gonna phone the guy again and see if he can shed any light as to how its wired etc but was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this company. The guy I spoke with yesterday said they work on a lot of Evo's so they cant be that small a company. Cheers John
  4. I have a manual TT Engine ECU I am looking to sell but before I do I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with the people who have chipped it. It has a 2 stage boost button on it, with normal and higher the 2 settings for the boost. I spoke to the company who are called Turbosystems Motorsport, Unit 9, Winpenny Rd, Parkhouse Ind Estate East, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffs ST5 7RH on the sticker on the ECU, they said it was chipped but would be ok to use on a standard car. Anyone got any input regarding this before I list it or any intrest. I have included a pic of the ECU/Sticker on it. Cheers John Crisp
  5. Chris My auto uk 300 TT has no (next to no, slips its nuts off) 3rd gear. I have bought an older manual 300 to break for parts/manual box. It was a good idea in principle but its like a 2nd job stripping parts from it/storing parts but what I would say its worth it as my manual conversion (parts anyway) have cost nothing compared to the 500 quid plus some other guys have sold all the parts for. I am gonna change the box on my car myself again saving money so i'd say if you have time buy the donor car, strip it and bring in some money, you might even get yer money back plus manual conversion parts. The only problem is where to strip the car, if you have somewhere then its not a problem. My 2p's worth. Cheers John
  6. Shunter Today I removed the alternator loom from my manual donor car so what u said makes sense. I am gonna be hopefully gettin the box out the car soon so I can start the swap. Cheers for the info and sorry again for butting into someone else's thread. Cheers John
  7. Nah paying someone here that has no experience doing it is scarey, at least if I make an arse of it its only me to blame.....it sounds quite straightforward in a kinda difficult way...if that makes sense. Am gonna try and do a stage by stage photo record of me doing it so I aint ina rush....2 0r 3 days....will prob take me 2 or 3 months :smash: Cheers John
  8. I know either way is gonna be work but whats the normal or easiest route. Cheers for the link BTW. Cheers John
  9. Sorry to hijack, but I have a manual conversion to do to my 300 TT. I am more worried (if thats the correct word) about the wiring. I have a full donor car and have heard about changing the alternator loom between the cars but surely the wiring can be joined/spliced without changing a loom. Anyone got a guide as to what wires/colours are linked/joined. Cheers John
  10. I have a 1993 UK 300 TT and am breaking a UK 1990 TT. My point is that the speedo on the nachered car wasnt working so I stripped my 'working' can to put the clocks on it with a view to making sure they are ok. To my amazement the 3 connectors are different, I think if I remember the single one fits but one of the other 2 is a different plug. The older car the plugs sit vertical, the newer car they are horizontal, could it be a similar thing like that whereby the unit isnt compatible. Maybee a lot of mince but just something I noticed with mine...stripped the dash for feck all. Cheers John

Ben I have just started breaking a 300, I will be back at the car on Sunday for most of the day stripping it. I'd be looking for 20 quid plus post for the BMC off the car. If you want i'll take it off the car on Sunday and pm you Sunday night. I also have calipers/discs (the car had EBC discs which I put on my 300, my origional discs have hardly any miles on them) if you or any of your mates are looking to upgrade. Let me know either way please mate. Cheers John
  12. Dont take a chance best to get it changed before it breaks, especially if you are unsure. Its not about whether someone in Japan took great care of their car, its not worth the hassle/expense if it breaks. Cheers John
  13. Robert I have worked with First in Glasgow for just over a year....come on the buses. Alan, there were quite a few mechanics/builders/electricians started in Glasgow a few years ago but there aint any there now, some were probably quite good workers but they were soon hounded out/left/moved on probably due to working practices at that time in First rather than them all being poor workers or chancers. Cheers John
  14. Cheers for that Robert, I am picking up Mikey's car aka Shrek on Sunday with a view to breaking it for the manual box and as I missed out on a 'good' auto box the manual route sounds better. I used to work weekends now am early start late finish mon to fri so I cant really plan my week but no doubt something will turn up that suites me. I am just kinda warey taking my car any distance with no 3rd gear in case it fooks up completely. Cheers John
  15. We have polish bus drivers where I work, they went out on the road with interpreters, and a sign saying 'please dont try and speak to the driver, he speaks no english'. Before that they had polish mechanics but none of them lasted. There is a young lithuanian (i think) cleaner who says she is a lawyer but gets more money here cleaning the buses....I find that hard to believe, but then again I was told with regards the polish workers what they earn in a week in Glasgow is what they earn in a month in Poland......kinda sad. Young people dont want to work nowadays, even less so in the motor trade and who can blame them, everything is getting more difficult to work on, with standard times cut, and more and more intrest from management on PROFIT only, not giving a flying fook for the workers so there is logic why people aint interested. My 2p's worth. Cheers John Crisp
  16. My 300 still has a sick gearbox.....no 3rd gear.....hopefully to be rectified with a manual conversion and for me the weekend is better. Sorry guys but gonna have to miss this one. Cheers John Crisp
  17. I have datascan btw Kev forgot to mention that. Cheers John
  18. Stick me on it if you want, I have hardly used it but am willing to help others if possible. john 300zx aka John Crisp, Barrhead near Glasgow. Cheers John

Windows explorer keeps closing as do a lot of other programs like media player when I try and watch a vid, would I be right in saying this is related to the kernell fault, if so whats the fix as nothing I have downloaded fixes the problem. Cheers John Crisp
  20. I hyave bought stuff off FLAT4online before without any problems. Cheers John Crisp
  21. Courtesy Nissan list it as well in USA, looks like its without turbo's etc at 6500 dollars, I wonder what the post and import tax would be on that one.....link below: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=LVG30DTT-MT Cheers John Crisp
