Obituary for a Vincent owner
Your uncle was obviously a much liked man. I'm sure most of us would hope to justify such an obituary on our own demise. You're a lucky chap to have known such a man. Sincerely - Dave

Changing my dials to indiglo
Hi Ali - Have a look at the main Group-Buy thread and post number 89 in particular, this should help. Be aware that many of us will be fitting these dials when they arrive and I am sure there will be a lot of posts discussing how they are being fitted. If possible, keep your posts on this subject on the main thread so everyone can share the questions and answers, it will save a lot of duplication. Cheers - Dave

Floods & the Zed!
I recently (this July) had the same experience with my Mondeo diesel estate. The water was sucked up into the engine due to the very low air intake and the engine locked up and was damaged beyond economical repair. I was negotiating for a second-hand replacement engine when my son suggested I contact my insurance company. I did so and to my great surprise they paid for a brand new ex-factory engine to be fitted (it cost them over three grand total). Cheers - Dave

dvla car tax inspectors Cheltenham
For ever I think. They made over 25 year old cars exempt in 1997 (I think) which meant cars older than 1972 are exempt (again, I think) but they have never brought this ruling up to date so 1972 is still (and probably always will be) the exempt date. Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure you will, lol). Dave

Christmas Party Canceled
About time you woke up, mate. Saying "this is NOT an internet club" you've got to be joking - perhaps you should re-examine the name of our club. The vast majority of us are just that, internet members. Attending the occasional show where we can see other Zed's and identify things we might like to do with our own Zed's is one thing, but if we wanted an excuse for a booze-up I'm sure we could find something better than attending a Christmas-Do with a bunch of foul mouthed boy racers. Horses for courses I say.

The great annual 'funkysi hates Christmas thread'...Who hates Christmas?
Good job you didn't say annual shag, you might have misspelt it   Dave

Arial removal
I'm sure you're right Clarkey, scrawni will find there are TWO aerial inputs going into the back of the radio, the fatter one is from the retractable aerial and the thinner one is from the screen aerial. I had a jap radio fitted to my Zed when it came in from Japan and I have now fitted a European system. One of the requirements was an adaptor to accept the two jap aerial inputs and reduce them to one euro input plug. I have to admit I haven't tried to use the screen cable on its own but I see no reason why it shouldn't work O.K. It maybe that scrawni's Zed already had a euro radio fitted when he bought the car and perhaps whoever did the conversion didn't include the thinner screen cable, but I am sure it will still be there tucked away behind the radio and it should be possible to bring it back into use very easily. Cheers - Dave

Joint meet with South Central???????
Exeter may be 'central' for a South West meet but hardly 'central for everyone'. Somewhere closer to South Central needs to be chosen if you expect them to join the meet.

how big is your back box?
Could you say that again please?  Dave

Ask her if you can collect the car, that should flush out if it's genuine or a scam. Dave

Where are they?
I've had two Zed's since June this year but, despite searching long and hard, I have been unable to find where Nissan have hidden the cup holders! Come on someone, put me out of my misery, where the hell are they? ;) Dave

How Do You Electrify Drivers Seat?
Martin, Your write-up is brilliant and will help me a lot in completing the task. Your photos show what a professional job you made of your retrim. Pete, How does the lever and its cover come off then? For those who are just following this thread, doesn't it just prove what membership of this club is worth and how helpful it's members are......I could never have got this degree of help anywhere else. Cheers, and thanks, - Dave

How Do You Electrify Drivers Seat?
Thanks Pete - I saw there was a zip at the headrest slot but I haven't found the ends yet as I haven't got up that far. At the moment I am trying to find out how to remove the 'flip-the-seat-forward' lever and cover as it is preventing me removing the upholstery up any further.

How Do You Electrify Drivers Seat?
Well, I phoned a guy on yellow pages who quoted "£350/£400". Unbelievable! I phoned another guy who estimated "£70"......seemed reasonable (compared with the first guy) so took the Zed + seat for him to see....."not sure, but at least £80". As I only paid £20 for the seat (including a non-electric passenger seat) I thought I should have a go at doing it myself. BIG MISTAKE! Took me a couple of hours to get the seat base seperated from the back part and remove the seat upholstery but the back is proving a real b*****d to get the cloth off. At the moment I'm stuck but I'll update you when (if) I manage to get any further. Thank goodness I haven't touched my Zed yet. Cheers - Dave

How Do You Electrify Drivers Seat?
Has anyone done this? It sounds like too specialised a job for me. Any ideas who might quote me for doing it (swap over the upholstery I mean).
