  1. Thanks andyduff, just what I was looking for. Cheers - Dave
  2. I've tried a google search but I can't find one. Can anyone help? Cheers - Dave
  3. Hi Steve - Thanks for comments but it is important for you to vote as everyone's opinions ar valid and carry weight in the poll. Remember the individual votes are NOT public. Hi fairladyzgirl - Please don't be put off from attending this historic event, it's going to be a great day. Hold your decision until this matter has been resolved as I am sure common sense will prevail. Please vote for the same reasons I've stated to Steve Dave
  4. Thank you for your apology, now lets get on with ensuring the Silverstone Show is safe and successful.
  5. It is posts like this one from Fuggles that really worries me, personal attacks are totally out of order in this situation, we should be concentrating on having a safe and successful event at Silverstone. Why don't the organisers agree with this? It is me who is polling the members for their opinion. This type of 'off topic' post by Fuggles should be discussed by pm not on open forum, but unfortunately he is not a subscribed member. Please cut through all the shite and vote for what you think, if the majority want high speed then so be it, we all have minds of our own and can decide what to do if we feel unsafe about the majority decision.
  6. Hi Retro620ti - Like myself, you are perfectly entitled to your point of view and I would expect you to reflect this with your vote. But I must point out that 100mph IS the EXPECTED speed which the pace car will do down the main straight. There will certainly be 'peer' pressure on drivers wanting to travel at, say, 60mph down the main straight, with other cars breathing down their neck wanting to do the maximum 100mph. No overtaking may be the rule but I can't see that being adhered too under those circumstances, tailgating adding greatly to the potential danger. Motorway driving is in marked lanes and I don't consider overtaking a slower car at 70mph is a dangerous activity - if a speed merchant comes steaming up behind in your lane it is relatively simple to pull over and let them by. This cannot happen on the Silverstone parade lap. My ONLY concern is safety. I don't want there to be a thread after Silverstone discussing a tragedy that could have been avoided by common sense.
  7. Yes, there will be a pace car, but it will 'pace' at 100mph down the main straight (as pointed out by SkylineDave).
  8. I agree with you Dave. I have started a 'POLL' thread for members to vote on what they want the parade maximum speed to be. I consider it should be 60mph maximum! As I have already paid for my son and myself to go to Silverstone, I shall still go and attend the pre-parade briefing. If the maximum speed agreed is higher than I would like then I will NOT join the parade. Please vote on the 'POLL' thread. Cheers - Dave
  9. You may have seen a discussion on the Silverstone thread about the PARADE speed. A number of members, including myself, have expressed concerns that the maximum planned speed of 100mph is unsafe for such a large number of cars (maybe 170+), many of which will have non-experienced drivers. I appreciate that many of you could cope with this speed comfortably and safely, but being surrounded by inexperienced drivers could, in my opinion, be a danger to us all. I am therefore posting this POLL to ask those of you who plan to attend the Silverstone Show to vote on what you consider the MAXIMUM parade speed should be. You may vote only once and your vote will NOT be made public. Bear in mind that there is a seperate 'track' event specifically for Zeds when the speeds will be unlimited. I believe these laps should be used by those wanting to have a burn-up but the PARADE laps should be just that, a parade to show off our beautiful Zeds to the general public (and beat that 108 skylines record). Cheers - Dave
  10. Plenty of cheaper ones on eBay, I've just bought some for £95 delivered but there are several even cheaper.....try a search Cheers - Dave
  11. I know lots of people change engines in their cars for various reasons, including increased performance and reliability, but IMHO I think it's a shame as the car then loses it's soul and is no longer a thoroughbred. I wish you luck and I am sure you will get enormous pleasure from the challenges you face but.........it's not for me. "Horses For Courses" as they say Cheers - Dave
  12. I thank you guys for your support, I was beginning to feel a bit lonely. I thought maybe I was the only one that could see the danger of 170+ Zeds running at 100mph with many of us being unused to such conditions. I feel it could be a recipe for disaster. SkylineDave's suggestion of 60mph maximum seems much more sensible to me. Thanks - Dave
  13. Including me! I suggest you read post #54 I have raised this matter ONCE, on 21st February - if my question had been answered unambiguously that would have been the end of the matter. Cheers - Dave
  14. Hi Fuggles - Thankyou for your detailed reply. I now understand that it is intended the parade will be at a top speed of 100mph, so we can now make our individual decisions as to whether to join the parade or not. Cheers - Dave
  15. Are these the 'crappy cheapo ebay ones' as I have been thinking of buying some. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330085975365&rd=1&rd=1 Cheers - Dave
  16. I don't consider two posts from me is 'a prolonged exchange of views', all I am asking is a simple question."at what maximum speed is the parade lap going to be run?" Just provide the answer to this simple question then we can each make up our own minds as to whether or not to attend the parade. I am becoming concerned that nobody seems to want to answer this simple question. Dave
  17. 140mph for me IS excessive! I am not a racing driver and I have more respect for my Zed than to push it to speeds I would never do on public roads. With over 100 cars expected in the parade, many with inexperienced drivers at the wheel, I consider it foolhardy to attempt to reach high speeds. This is a parade to show the spectators what beautiful cars the Zeds are, it is NOT a race to see who can go the fastest. I'm sure there will be many that will disagree with my concerns but if you want to race then you should organise a seperate track event for those who want to illustrate their Zed's speed. KEEP THE PARADE AS A PARADE, NOT A TRACK RACING EVENT, ELSE I AM SURE YOU WILL LOSE MANY PARTICIPANTS. Sincerely - Dave PS - EDIT - Isn't there supposed to be track time available for Zeds only for £20, shouldn't that time be spent for speeding, NOT the parade?
  18. Hi Steve - You replied to the above post saying:- "Would have thought that was a typo and will check it with him this week" But no reply has yet appeared on this thread. As it is a very important matter (I, for one, would have to withdraw from the parade if 100mph is planned) would you please clarify the full parade details so we all know what to expect. Cheers - Dave
  19. When plugged into my laptop, the mp3 player is listed as 'removeable disk'. Listed under this are two files, 'butterfly' and 'butterfly.Irc' (this is a demonstration song provided on the player, presumably by the manufacturer, and it works ok). I have clicked and dragged an Eva Cassidy song from iTunes on my laptop to the mp3 player and it now shows on the laptop as being listed along with the 'butterfly' files. The 'butterfly' file states it is type 'MPEG Layer 3 Audio' and the Eva Cassidy song type 'MPEG-4 Audio File'. I am unable to bring the Eva Cassidy title to the lcd screen on the player although the 'butterfly' song title shows (and then plays) The mp3 player does NOT play the Eva Cassidy song, only the 'Butterfly' song!!!!!!!!!! Any help?
  20. Hi Steve - just sent payment for two adults, show & parade only, by paypal in my 'real' name. Will send the order form to you in the next couple of minutes (if I can sort out how to email it to you) Cheers - Dave
  21. You're right, the iTune files are mp4-audio files. The 'easy cd ripper' software provided with the mp3 player doesn't appear to have the facility to convert these to mp3 files. What now?
  22. No, can't find a 'library' facility on cd ripper. I'm thinking of chucking the bloody thing in the bin. Doesn't anything come with proper instructions any more. There must be millions of mp3's in use in this country whose owners have managed to get theirs to play music. Why the hell is mine so difficult?
  23. Hi - Yes, I've got a mini-cd with the mp3 (which is un-branded) and it has 'easy cd ripper' on it. I have installed this and looked at its 'help' facility and it appears that I can use it to load cd's onto my laptop in several formats, including mp3 format. But it doesn't say how to transfer from laptop to mp3 player. As I have already copied lot's of tracks from cd's into iTunes on my laptop, shouldn't I be able to copy these onto the mp3 player? I have tried one track using 'drag and drop' but, whilst the file name appears on the mp3 directory I cannot find a way to play it. Can you help? Cheers - Dave
  24. Do you mean 'knitpickers' and 'grammar'? lol
  25. Another one that winds me up is where, were, wear and we're - they are always getting mixed up.
