March Meet
I will try to make it if weathers good. But why 14.00?? that's a bit late for Sunday lunch isn't it? What is your usual 'drill' at SW meets as this would be my first time? Anywhere close at hand suitable for a photo shoot? Cheers - Dave

Its like flogging a dead horse
Steve - Maybe if fuggles was more precise about the speed at which the parade will be run, more people might make their minds up and pay! At the moment the average of the poll on this forum works out to around 70mph MAXIMUM. I still personally think the maximum should be 60mph but, until fuggles tells us EXACTLY what form the parade is going to take, how can we decide whether it is safe to take part or not. It is not good enough to say it will be left to the pace car to decide, we need to know IN ADVANCE for safety's sake what speeds are planned. Dave

Tyres for standard UK wheels
Hi - Welcome to the forum.........you could try "tyretraders.com" they have been discussed on the forum recently and give very good prices and quick delivery. They are a bit expensive at £16 per wheel for fitting etc. but you don't HAVE to use them for fitting.....you can probably find a local fitter cheaper (like I did) Good luck - Dave

Olympics to cost £9,200,000,000!!!!!!
Despite the tone of my original post, I am not against the Olympics per say, or even sport in general, BUT I am totally against the extravagent amount of money that is being spent, apparently for us to host the 2012 Olympics. I simply believe that much of the money will be siphoned off by unscrupulous individuals and businesses who are already highly skilled in ripping off the taxpayers of this country. I am all in favour of the physical training and education of the young as it promotes character building as well as being healthy and also helps the youngsters learn to be both competitive and teamsters. If much of the £9.2Billion is to be spent on redevelopment, transport systems and the like, then let's know what their costs are together with evidence that they are justified as standalone projects and not needed just to support the Olympics. What I would like to see is how much it will be costing us to hold the 2012 Olympics here, without this figure being clouded by peripheral costs which we should be paying for anyway.

Olympics to cost £9,200,000,000!!!!!!
Who is 'we'? You mean big business as they will take the majority of the profits? We the taxpayer (the poor) pay £10billion+ and big business (the rich) takes the profits!! :headvswal

Olympics to cost £9,200,000,000!!!!!!
Do you have a breakdown of what's being spent on what? Edit - and if that's true, why are they raiding the Lottery for another £700million?

Olympics to cost £9,200,000,000!!!!!!
I could hardly believe my ears today when it was stated on the news that the UK Olympics are to cost NINE POINT TWO THOUSAND MILLION POUNDS, FOUR TIMES THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE OF £2.4 BILLION. And we all know that by 2012, the actual total will be much, much more. Where on earth can all this money be going? Whilst many big wigs and politicians are probably getting massive back handers out of the Games, in my opinion this level of blatant overspending is utterly obscene. Think about it.......a million pounds is an aweful lot of money.....a thousand times that is almost unimaginable.......but nine point two times even that huge amount is absolutely scandalous. And all so that a bunch of overpaid, drug-infested so called atheletes can run, jump, swim etc. against each other for a paltry medal. What is the world coming to when we can waste so much money (and resources) on such frivolous activities whilst human beings all over the world are dying in their millions for the sake of simple amenities such as clean water and basic medicines. I am not normally so political but hearing this news today has made me very, very angry......and it's just one day before Red Nose Day when Comic Relief are working so hard to raise money for disadvantaged children. It's about time we spoke out against such extravagancies and demanded a detailed breakdown of the costs, AND PROFITS, associated with the Olympic Games. No-one seems to be accountable for anything these days, when will it ever end?

Can anyone vote in a 'poll'
That's a good suggestion Jez but I am concerned that those who are members of both clubs might then vote twice and distort the results....but it's worth thinking about. Then there's the 350 clubs to consider!!! :headvswal Cheers - Dave

Can anyone vote in a 'poll'
Can't argue with that StellaZ, but it's interesting that voting in polls isn't listed as one of the benefits of becoming a subscribed member.

Cheaper Tyres for club members?
Thanks Olliezx - because of your thread I've just bought a pair of tyres from TyreTraders and they were certainly the best price I could find. :hyper: I bought them 'delivered only' as I found their fitting charge of £16 per wheel a bit dear...I am getting mine fitted locally for only £5 per wheel (fitting, new valve, balancing). A really good find, Ollie  - Cheers - Dave

Can anyone vote in a 'poll'
Yeah...You're right Dave. I am trying to find a way that ALL the drivers going to the Silverstone Parade can express their opinion, at the moment only 300ZX.co.uk subscribed members can vote in the poll (24 so far). I would welcome any suggestions (keep it clean! lol) Cheers - Dave

Which tyres for UK rear wheels?
Not having good luck with my replacement 245/45R16 tyres. I ordered 2 x Kumho Ecsta's from TyreTraders over the weekend but they phoned this morning to say there was only one left in stock :headvswal :headvswal They offered me 2 x Goodrich G's for the same price (saying that would be £30 under their normal price) but I'm not sure whether Goodrich are any good. I've looked on the Goodrich site and they look O.K. and they give them a decent write-up (but then they would, wouldn't they). Does anyone have any opinions about Goodrich 'G' tyres.......or does anyone have ONE decent part worn Kumho?  Cheers - Dave

Cheaper Tyres for club members?
olliezx's new find of 'tyretraders' seem a lot cheaper than our official tyre discounter 'tyresonline', even without discount. Maybe MAC_1 should ring them both and try and make a new deal! Cheers - Dave

MP3 - How do I record music?
SOLVED AT LAST! - I have at last solved the problem of transferring songs from iTunes on my laptop to the unbranded MP3 I bought off eBay a few weeks ago!!!!   I looked through the manuals for both iTunes and the MP3 and found that they are both able to work with 'MP3' format files. My iTune music had been automatically saved in AAC format but there is a facility on iTunes under 'advanced' to convert the file formats to 'MP3'. I used this facility to convert ALL my iTune songs and........Hey Presto..........they all transferred successfully to the MP3 player simply using 'drag&drop' via the USB cable. So problem solved. I hope this might help others who have similar problems. Cheers - Dave

I am guessing the Dunlops would be too pricey for me!

Which tyres for UK rear wheels?
I've looked on their site but they don't have a 245/45R16 tyre at all! In any case, aren't these a 'performance' tyre? What sort of road mileage do they give? Cheers - Dave

Which tyres for UK rear wheels?
I've just bought a set of UK wheels with "nearly new" tyres but one of the rear KUMHO ECSTA tyres is not even legal. I want to fit tyres that will do a decent mileage but most of the threads I have searched only seem to recommend soft rubber performance tyres (which have relatively low mileage??) rather than general all weather hard rubber tyres (that have high mileage??). I don't want to pay Michelin prices, although they have given excellent mileage on previous cars I've owned, I only want to pay budget prices. Can anyone please advise me of suitable tyres? Cheers - Dave
