  1. Hi Scubie, I've tried to pm him but the system doesn't recognise the name. I've tried daves zx - Daves zx - daves_zx - Daves_zx but none of them work! Dave
  2. Just an update........I have now pm'd 27 members who had expressed an interest in recent 'failed' group-buys for indiglo's - most of them wanted the same spec that the first five of us want here. With luck we should be able to get 20+ for this group-buy. There are five names that I was not able to send pm's to, maybe they are no longer members or something, they are:- flairman - Scottrw - uncle fester - Wolfman - daves new ZX . If anyone knows them or can contact them please let them know what we are doing......the more the merrier. :hyper: Dave
  3. I'm sure they would be very handy. Please hang on to them and I'll contact you again when we get a bit closer to manufacture. Dave
  4. Well, that's not a bad start for two hours, four including me. We are well on the way. Dave
  5. THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED AN OFFICIAL THREAD ON THE 'GROUP-BUY' FORUM WAS OPENED 11TH SEPTEMBER. PLEASE JOIN US THERE. I have been trying to get a set of indiglo dials for my imported manual non-turbo Z32 for a sensible price. I have searched the forum and found at least three attempts this year to set up a group-buy for these. They all seem to have fizzled out so now I intend to organise a successful group-buy myself. I have spoken to the manufacturer, mygarage-Glasgow, and they will make us a minimum quantity of twenty, ALL OF ONE DESIGN, for a price of £55 to £59 incl. delivery (let’s assume £60 maximum). By ‘one design’ I think I could persuade them to accept a mix of turbo and non-turbo as the only difference is the cut out in the speedo dial for the booster dial. All other dials would be identical. I will find out about time-scales but, in the meantime, I am looking for opinions from interested members on what the dials should be. My own opinion is that each dial should be as U.K as possible for example:- 1) Temperature - standard (I think UK/Jap are the same) 2) Speedo - 180 mph (with or without cut out for boost) 3) Boost -14/+14 4) Tachometer - 0 to 9 with 7-9 red (I think UK/Jap are the same) 5) Oil pressure - psi 6) Fuel - standard (I think UK/Jap are the same) 7) Refer to http://www.mygarage-glasgow.co.uk/ to see what colours/styles are available. Remember they do not yet have graphics for the 300ZX so the dials you see are for other cars and should only be used for judging the colour/style. We can decide on the graphics we want later. Although I like several of them my preference is Reverse Indiglo (White Background) Please start by stating your choices on this thread but only do so if you think you might be interested in buying. Start with my choices listed above and post anything you would prefer to have different. Once there is sufficient consensus and numbers I will start a new thread for the group-buy. We don’t want to spend weeks discussing our preferences (I think this is what helped kill off the previous threads). I think ten days should tell us whether there is sufficient interest and consensus to proceed with the group-buy. IF YOU KNOW YOU WILL NOT WANT TO JOIN THE GROUP PLEASE DO NOT POST ON THIS THREAD AS IT WILL ONLY ADD TO CONSENSUS DIFFICULTIES. There were twenty-five members who showed interest on previous group-buys and I will send each of them a pm to ensure they know of this group-buy. With that many interested we should have no problem proceeding very soon. Once the design has been established, I suggest each member joining the group pay a deposit (amount to be agreed) that will be deducted from the final price of the dials. This is to ensure that members are committed to the purchase. These deposits will be sacrificed if the member backs out of the group-buy (and used to reduce price to remaining members) but WILL be refunded in full if the group-buy does not proceed. This should not happen as I intend to order the full twenty sets, even if there are not twenty group-buy members. I will pay for, and sell separately, any that are not pre-sold to the group. O.K. let’s go, this is going to be a successful group-buy. Dave THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED AN OFFICIAL THREAD ON THE 'GROUP-BUY' FORUM WAS OPENED 11TH SEPTEMBER. PLEASE JOIN US THERE.
  6. I'm really grateful for the help you are all giving me regarding my a/c problem and, because of your help, I have been able to eliminate several possible causes. But I'm afraid I am getting a bit out of my depth when you refer to items such as "low pressure switch" and "receiver/drier" as these things mean nothing to me. I am reasonably useful with my hands and am sure I could cope with things that don't require too much stripping down but if I can't identify the items I am completely lost (and useless). Is it possible to provide a photo or diagram that would help me locate this switch? Dave
  7. Thanks Paul - excuse my dumbness but where/what is the low pressure switch and what is best way to short out the two wires? mgh297 - I've checked the (10A) fuse and it's O.K. Dave
  8. Thanks stricker - I've just checked the relay and it works in my 1990 car so should be O.K. Quote Clarkey - Yep, if the gas pressure is too low the compressor won't engage to prevent damage. Hi Clarkey - I didn't realise low gas pressure would prevent the clutch from working. I have looked closely and the clutch is definately not engaging. What's involved in getting the gas pressure up? Dave
  9. Hi Clarkey - No, the idle speed does not change when I turn it on/off, neither do I hear a 'click' (which I do on my 1990 Zed). Any ideas? Dave
  10. Sorry Paul but I don't think the pump IS cutting in. The 'click' etc. I described was on my 1990 Zed, it does not happen on my 1995 Zed where the a/c isn't working. Any ideas? Dave
  11. Yes, the belt is fitted (to my 1995 Zed). I have compared with my 1990 Zed (which I still have and the a/c works fine) and there is a quiet 'click' and the engine changes speed slightly. This doesn't happen on the non-working 1995 Zed although the light on the switch comes on. Could it be a faulty switch? Fuse blown - where do I look? A/c pump knackered - is this likely? Dave
  12. I have just noticed the air-conditioning on the Zed I bought two weeks ago is not working. Any ideas on what is the most likely cause? Dave
  13. Another nine have voted SINCE I posted the correct pronounciation. Six voted for TANE (as you would expect) but one voted for TINE and two voted for TEEN..................it's a funny old world! Dave
  14. Hi Bob, I was asking if you would recommend a car alarm installer in the Swindon Area, but I have now contacted the manufacturer and they have agreed to fit it themselves. I hope I haven't caused you any inconvenience. Dave
  15. Their usual auction starting price is £299 and they sometimes do a 'buy it now' at £399. They also do an occassional auction with a £0.99 starting price which sometimes sells under the £299 price. Don't blame the guy for not selling to you at less than his 'normal' price. They look a good deal to me and I am also hoping to buy one through the eBay auction at a lower price than £299. So don't shoot yourself in the foot by refusing to buy off this guy, they look a real bargain to me even at £299. Dave
  16. Many thanks to those who contributed to this thread, especially the 25 who voted. As you can see, there was a tie between TINE and TEEN so it didn't really help me to decide how Tein should be pronounced. I therefore decided to phone them this morning and they told me their name was pronounced:- TANE so congratualtions to the six who voted correctly. I would like to give a prize to the six winners but I don't have to, so I wont! LOL! :nana2: Dave
  17. But my Zed is an 'M reg' N/A manufactured in 1995 so would it be O.K. or not? Dave
  18. Is a 'de-cat' system legal then? Would it pass the MoT? Dave
  19. I've had so many different views expressed in my earlier thread as to how to pronounce TEIN that I've decided to start a poll (if I can) and see what the majority of you say it is. Dave
  20. Well, thanks for the 'help' guys lol but I'm no better off! I will start a poll (if I can, I haven't attempted to do one before) and see what the majority say. Dave
  21. I would like to replace the exhaust on my 1995 N/A with a Stainless Steel system but don't understand some of the lingo used for them. I understand what a 'cat' is but what is a 'de-cat' and a 'cat-back'? I am not looking for a high performance exhaust, just one that will last for ever (SS) and sounds really sporty but legal. Dave
  22. Why change engine oil every 3000 miles? The handbook says every 6000miles. Why use 5W oil? It doesn't get that cold in the U.K. Is there a different preference for TT and N/A? The handbook doesn't differentiate. By the way, did you see the handbook that sold for £101.99 on eBay the other day? Mind you, it was post free. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160020034386&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006 Dave
  23. How Do You Pronounce Tein? Dave
  24. My Zed is my second car. I have a mondeo diesel estate as my family car so need something to brighten up my life, my Zed does this in bucket loads. Only do about 500 miles a month so running costs not too high. If something major went wrong as I'm a wrinkley I'd probably have to sell, so I hope that never happens. Dave
