My New 'baby'
I'VE MOVED THIS COILOVER ITEM TO A NEW THREAD Just spoken to the dealer I'm buying from. He says the car's gone through the MoT 100% and the garage informed him that there have been Coilovers recently fitted. Would someone tell me whether or not these are beneficial. I had no idea what they were until I had a quick search on our forum and it seems from what I've read so far that they are desireable for racing (which I wont be doing) but can give a hard ride for normal road use. I don't know the manufacturer of mine yet but shouldn't they be adjustable for both height and ride? Dave

Car Alarm
Hi Bob - How much would you charge for fitting a) with you supplying the alarm (total cost) and b) with me supplying the alarm? Dave

Car Alarm
Hi - I'm considering fitting an alarm to my Zed, to include remote central locking and immobiliser. I've seen the Toad Ai606 widely advertised at sensible prices, does anyone have experience of these or recommend an alternative Thatcham Cat 1? Also, is it practical to fit an alarm yourself or is it best left to the 'professionals'? Dave

Subscribed Threads?
Wow, thanks Clarkey, I've been needing something like this for ages. I've spend ages on the forum just trying to find previous threads, many of which have now disappeared into oblivion. Shouldn't there be somewhere on the site that new members like me can go to find out all these 'difficult to know' site facilities. It's only today I've found out how to put a photo on my signature - it's like many things, it's easy when you know how but when you don't................... Dave

Subscribed Threads?
Can someone tell me what a 'subscribed thread' is. Whenever I go to my UserCP (whatever that means!) screen that section is always empty. Dave

My New 'baby'
But, Graham S and lynchmob, shouldn't it at least have remote locking? Has yours? Dave

My New 'baby'
Yes, I know it SHOULD be a Series IV but I can't be certain. I've checked some of the usual items for dates (seat belts, roller blind, boot carpet and wheel centre) and they all show "1995". It's got the pillar mounted front belts and three point rear belts, it's got the 4-speed fan air conditioning, it's got the driver's air bag in the steering wheel, BUT it doesn't have power seats, cruise control, remote locking or velour interior, all of which are supposed to be on Series III let alone IV. I must say the car looks genuine in all other respects else I wouldn't be buying it, but............. What's your thoughts? Dave

My New 'baby'
Just had to show off my new 'baby', a Jap import that's just 'off the boat' not even registered yet, which I paid a deposit on yesterday. It's a 1995 Series III (or IV?) Z32 Silver 2+2 Non-Turbo Manual TargaTop High Spoiler. Although the mileage is only 72k km. (45k miles) it's being given a full service, including cam belt and water pump, will be MoT'd and registered in my name and taxed then fully valeted ready for me to collect on Friday. Oooooooooooooo.......I'm so excited, I've even learned how to add a photo to my signature just to give you a peep! Dave

Signature Picture?
Can someone please tell me how a computer illiterate like me can add a photo from my computer onto the signature? Dave

Z32 SWB or 2+2?
Thank you to all you guys for the inputs, it seems it's a case of 'horses for courses'. I am not a speedy kind of guy, a ton is plenty for me, and I don't want to track race any car of mine, I respect them too much (no disrespect intended to all you racing types, I love watching you but it's not for me). As a grandfather to three I guess I should stick to a 2+2, I have to admit to really enjoying my present one and the grandkids love it too. SO..........I went out yesterday and put a deposit on a 1995 Z32 2+2 N/A Manual from an importer based near Dudley. It's really beautiful and will make a most suitable replacement for my present Z. I can't wait to collect it next Friday. Once again, thanks for all your inputs. Dave

How do you convert from km to miles?
Or if you want to be more accurate - 8km = 4.970969538 (we can all play this game) but enough of this frivolity, lets get to the point of this thread which is, how do I convert the speedometer and odometer on the 1995 Z32 I am collecting next Friday from km to miles. Dave

How do you convert from km to miles?
Checking on your thread on this subject (that I highjacked!!) do you mean 22k not 2.2k? Dave

How do you convert from km to miles?
Ask a silly question..................

How do you convert from km to miles?
I thought I'd better start a new thread rather than highjack bantambunny's. Can anyone tell me, in some detail, how to convert a Jap import Z32 from km to miles? Dave

N/A Rotors?
Hi - What are N/A Rotors and how can I tell if I have them on my Z32? Dave
-
Speedo resistor value
O.K. but where does the 20k resistor come in? Don't answer here as I have started a new post on this subject as this is interrupting bantambunny's thread. Dave

Speedo resistor value
Hi - Excuse my interuption but is this thread about converting the speedo from km to miles? Could you please give more information as I am just buying a 1995 Jap import (in km) and want to find out how to change it to miles. At the moment the dealer is just going to put a mph dial on but the recorded distance (odometer?) will still run in km and I know this can be changed somehow as my present import Z32 in totally in miles. Dave

Zclub logon problem!!!

Zclub logon problem!!!
Anyone got a Zclub contact and phone number? I've tried to log on to their site both last night and this morning but only get this error message:- "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/zclutnet/public_html/forum/modules/combocalendar.php on line 228" Does anyone know what it means? (I know its not a 300zx.co.uk problem but we're all mates, aren't we? Dave

Which tyres are on your Z
None of the above, mine are Nexen!

please help me!!
Just to give you my penneth for what it's worth......I'm certainly no expert. I've had a N/A manual for just a few weeks and it has seemed sluggish to me for a 3000cc car. I took it in to ZTech today and Greg looked it over, checked the timing and said it was retarded (a bit like me) and reset it by 4 degrees. The performance improvement was significant and I am now a happy Zedster.......just in case it helps. Dave

Valet key - 'Full' key replacement
Thanks for the info, guys, but what a shame. I was thinking of getting two keys that were on Australian eBay but the fluting was different to mine so I assumed they were not suitable. The have now sold and were only US$10.90 including postage for the two (about £6.00). I will keep looking out for some more. Dave

Valet key - 'Full' key replacement
I only have the red 'valet' key for my Z32 and it has a 4 digit code on it. Is it possible to obtain a 'full' key that will also open/lock the glove compartment? Dave

Automatic aerials
Hi - This seems a common problem with all electric aerials, not least those fitted to the Z. My advice is to buy a second hand one (as I have done) as you can pick them up from this site, the ZClub site or eBay from £20 to £30. You can buy a new repair kit from traders here also but they are about £45 and are a messy nightmare to fit. If you need help with fitting the aerial I found the following very helpful - go to zhome.com - scroll to the bottom of the 'section descriptions' on the left of the home page - look under 'documents' and click on 'How To's - for the 90+ Z's' and under 'accessories' click on 'How someone... : repaired/replaced their Power Antenna' I found this an invaluable instruction sheet when I replaced my aerial and there are many more items of value on that site - why not explore? Welcome to the club and good luck with your aerial.

Who's still got the original titanium key then?
As stated earlier I only have the red key which doesn't lock the glove box. Is it possible to obtain a key that will do it all? (A black one?) Dave
