  1. As you know, I am one of the wrinklies:o and I can remember petrol at less than 20p a gallon..........3/11d actually........and note that's a gallon NOT a litre. They put it up by one shilling a gallon to 4/11d due to the Suez crisis with the promise it would be taken off when the crisis ended! Of course, it never came down again so I presume the Suez crisis is still on?
  2. Which one's yours, Marco?
  3. I've just redone my sig (due to site upgrade) but the photo is small. How do I make it larger?
  4. Perhaps we could convoy!
  5. OK - If we get at least 10 interested then I'll speak to the committee and see if they will sponsor a stand, if less than 10 then we'll just have an allocated 'same-make' parking area..........it will be a great meet anyway as this is truly a fantastic show. By the way, it's Bromley in Kent. (I didn't realise there were other Bromley's.) This is a link to their site - http://www.bromleypageant.co.uk
  6. So I take it there is no interest in attending this show? I am willing to organise something if members want it (with the permission of our NEO of course)
  7. Sorry, too short a notice, I've already made family commitments
  8. One of the perks of being a retired wrinkley, every day's a leisurely day. (I bet you can't wait :hyper: ) It was a great night at Reading BTW with about 100 Jap cars there including half a dozen Zeds. It was also not too cold and we've had a very pleasant evening chatting with new acquaintances.
  9. Well, I'm just off to Reading for a bit of shopping, followed by a tremendous mixed grill at Wetherspoon's (after 15.00hrs just £6.79 including a pint!) then off to the Jap meet this evening at Reading Gate Retail Park. HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU THERE.
  10. Is there any chance of this event being included in our club calendar this year? It is the biggest open car show in the UK and is well worth attending even though it is not just for Jap cars. I'm sure many members have attended in previous years and it would be great if we could have a 300zx stand, or even organise a 'One-Make Parking' area to show off our cars to the general public.
  11. I'll be there.........(but don't let that put you off!)
  12. He was obviously making sure you couldn't see the blemishes else why would he be hosing it when it was already raining. I reckon he KNOWS he has crapped your car and you will have a difficult time when you take it back. I should take a couple of big ugly blokes with you when you go back, I think he will need some 'encouragement' to accept responsibility. Good luck, Lisa, let's know how you get on.
  13. 1995 White Zed N/A Auto for £1,550! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110232161536&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001
  14. From what I understand there are two obstacles to overcome, the physical and the mental. The physical is the nicotine in your system and the mental is the habit. Going cold turkey means you tackle both at the same time, which is the most difficult but probably the best if you can do it. The patches allow a little nicotine in your system whilst you conquer the habit, then you stop the patches and and fight the nicotine starvation. I'm an ex smoker having given up by cold turkey in my thirties (some thirty five years ago) but my wife still smokes 20 a day so I'm still at risk from passive smoking! Giving advice for packing up smoking is all well and good but each person must find their own motivation for giving it up, the same method doesn't work for everyone. Having said that, my advice would be.....once you stop DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER SMOKE FOR ANY REASON....it's a very slippery slope. I 'gave up' once for six months and thought I could survive just one small cigar at a wedding, within a few weeks I was back to 20 fags per day......it took me over two years before I could take the step and pack it up again. That time I did NOT slip back and haven't smoked since, but I still consider myself an ex smoker and not a non smoker!
  15. I've had the same problem and was as puzzled as you! Turned out to be a bad connection from the black earth wire to the bulb holder which is impossible to get at. It showed continuity with the meter but it just wasn't good enough to take the power required by the bulb. My solution was to buy another indicator loom off this site, (it should arrive in a few days), someone else on here cured the same problem by replacing the bulb holder.
  16. I've got a 2001 Mondeo TDi and have been using 10% Asda vegi oil for a few years without problems. A few months ago I increased this to 20% and it still runs well. (Ford say in the handbook that you can use up to 5% without invalidating warranty). When I started using it, vegi oil was less than 50p/ltr and you were supposed to pay the government some duty for each litre used. Now its over 80p! but you can legally use up to 2,500 litres per year without being liable for duty.
  17. I'm just an outsider who has been following this thread with interest as, although I'm in the SC region (Swindon), I am nearer to Bristol and Gloucester than the SW members in Devon/Cornwall. Lisa, please do not be offended by what the guys are discussing.....it is NOTHING to do with critisising you in ANY WAY! In fact, all the posts I've seen are saying exactly the opposite, that you are doing a REALLY GREAT JOB! IMO what is being discussed is the distances that have to be covered when SW meets are arranged at one end of SW region or the other. Time and costs appear to be an important factor for several of the members who have posted their comments here. Don't take the 'REGIONAL' splits too seriously. I believe the club was regionally organised in the way it is to enable LOCAL meets to be organised by LOCAL members. Members from ANY region can AND DO attend these 'local' meets, they do not have to live within the said region in order to attend. We in the SC actively encourage members from other regions to attend our meets and many of us also attend other regions meets. I am sure (in fact I know) the same situation applies to your SW region. Again, as an outsider, it seems some of your members think the SW region is too large and it is becoming too expensive, in terms of cost AND time, to attend ALL the SW meets and they would be able to attend more meets if they were more local to them. It therefore seems to me a good idea to have two regions instead of the one.......each region's members are still able to attend the others meets in the same way that every member in every region is entitled to do. As I've already said Lisa, you're obviously doing a great job for your region judging by the comments made by your members, nothing that has been said has even a hint of critisism .....keep up the good work...and it may be that having two regions will enable more of our members to attend LOCAL meets more often. Good luck with your discussions and final decision.
  18. Don't forget the money will be transferred into your Paypal account and you will need to transfer it into your regular bank account else it will stay with Paypal. The process is very simple and easily followed by clicking on the 'withdraw' button at the top of the screen. This transfer is free of charge provided it is more than £50.
  19. I'm not 100% certain you need a Paypal account to just RECEIVE money. I think so long as the payer has your email address he can pay you via Paypal. I presume paypal will email you that they have money to pay you and will ask for your bank details in order to transfer the amount. (I'm sure they will deduct a 'handling' fee). If you DO have to open a Paypal account this takes several days as Paypal (or you) have to make an actual small payment in order to test everything is working before they will actually let you use the account. It might be a good idea to look at their website 'paypal.com' as they're sure to have a 'FAQ' section or maybe a phone number or email address you could contact them on. The other alternative would be to ask someone you can trust and who has a Paypal account if the funds could be received by them. Good luck, and congratulations on your sale!
  20. Have you ever heard of a GOOD breakup?
  21. No......just mostly!
  22. Pisses me off how they automatically think THEY will have the house........tell her to buggar off and make her own nest if she doesn't like the present situation. Sounds to me as though there might be someone else anyway and once you're out the way he'll move in. It happened this way to my son a couple of years ago so it could happen to you.
  23. What a shame to see my favourite coastal town under water. I hope the waterfront Wetherspoon's isn't too badly damaged.......I will be hoping for my usual Mixed Grill + a Drink for £6.79 the next Tuesday I come down in my Zed.

Why not ask each local REO in the region each national event is being held? Where are the National Events this year anyway?
