Update on the wife's car.
I almost totally agree, but the badge still has something going for it over a Skoda, even if the car is not much/any better. Seat are nice, esp the Cupra R Leon. A new passat is due some time soon, so there will be some deals.

sweet spot
I still think it is something to do with the speed of the air, ie big hole (wide open throttle) slow air speed,,,,, smaller hole, faster air speed.

Replacing the speedo
Just take it out and do it, it is very easy.

sweet spot
isnt it to do with the speed of the air through the throttles, ie less open = more air speed, until you are revving high.

Wheel setup
I think thats what I have, (maybe I have 225 on the front).

Legislation on Reg Plates for Imports
Dont have an address to send you but I have had plates for some imports. It seems that you can have any size you like as long as it fits the REAR bumper/panel where the number plate goes. The manufacturer of the plate has to by law set the font size and spacing. Front plates have to be UK legal. Hope this helps adn is OK

1800 plus VAT is a rip off. I dont know about the SE box, but Ihave heard its good. For £1800 + vat You should get something special. Could try STA, cant remember the number, in AYlesbury, he will give a price over the phone, approx.

Key cutting from chassis no.
I have used a company called "Keys Galore" cant find the number but directory inq should have it. I never had a problem they couldnt fix. And they cut from key number quicker and cheaper than main dealers, inc chipped keys.

Key cutting from chassis no.
Sometimes, with other makes, asking another dealer makes all the difference as it seems some just cant be bothered.

Another Auto Box Question
Clean Oil = Good Sign....

Another Auto Box Question
come on guys, why would it be fluid low when its ok in manual??????????? Old Fluid, Nope Clutch Actuator? Whats that then? Do you mean the piston inside the drum where the clutch plates are? If you gearbox is slipping it will burn the plates and or the bands. This makes the fluid smell burnt. Try it. If its burnt, and sometimes you can actually see that the fluid is contaminated with bits from the friction surfaces, your box has probably had it.... If it is not burnt there is hope.

import or uk
Also what they are "supposed" to have can be different from what they do have, with ref to the jap agreed limit

Another Auto Box Question
Years ago when manually selecting the gears more presure was fed to the various clutches etc. DOnt know if this is still true or means anything to your prob.
-
import or uk
And of course the Black Jap imports have more than the rest too

loud tappet
Sometimes this happens, sometimes the warmth makes a difference. If the oil presure is low in the engine you do need to get the revs up, or the lifter is worn, or both.

Changing Gears in a Auto
Try smelling the fluid, and why do people think changing the fluid will fix their auto robs???? if your box is on the way out changing the fluid just costs you some money for nothing.
-
loud tappet
In engines that have not been run for a while, sometimes they need to get really warm to free off the lazy lifter...just let it run for a while...

my 11pm turbo revelation
For a manufactured comparison look at Escort RS Turbos, they had to have big turbos for the homologation, soon as that was done they went to smaller ones. Everyone I spoke to and read about said they were just as fast but far nicer with the small turbo.

On older cars sometime putting a high power bulb in will just make the drifference, even if it blows after a whil it might be worth it. ot one of the extra light bulbs... Are they dirty inside on the lens?

Misty windows and horrible smell.
OK, I give up, I dont want to fall out over it.
-
Misty windows and horrible smell.
Yes no probs, my thoughts are that if the matrix is leaking then it is worth trying the rad weld route. Nothing to loose....
-
Misty windows and horrible smell.
Hey Cos, just read your thread again, "if the matrix looses its efficency"?? as in it leaks, LOL
-
Misty windows and horrible smell.
Cos, non taken. I have used it many times and dont have a problem with it. If it was a case of using it and putting off changing the matrix because i had no time/money/will etc to change it, and it worked I would be happy. I have used it in my Xantia TD, it had a very small leak in the rad and this has been OK for 18 months or more.

Gatso revenge
But only out of interest of course, how do you get a tyre burning really well, and quickly. Is there something that can be spread on it to keep the temp up and the tyre burning until it gets going????
