Aftermarket headbolts
There is a well known problem with metal head gaskets for the Zed! None of them work! It is acknowledged by most people on TT.net and PeteR at SE! If it is them and DP guaranteed the work and gaskets it is a warranty fault!

Aftermarket headbolts
Yes I believe ARP do a set, but the stock ones are meant to be more than capable! How did SE determine that your original ones are stretched, without dismantling your engine? I don't think you are meant to have ones with less stretch, I believe they are meant to have elastic properties!

NA to TT Power steering pump problems!
Swapped every possible combination of brackets pumps and pulleys, and they still don't line up! I think it's right hand drive car problem!

Thermostat change
One of the best things I bought for working on cars was the top of the range socket from halfords, that will have everything you need apart from the torque wrench!

Heat resistant adhesive, where can I get it from!
Cheers guys, I hope I have solved the problem now!

Thermostat change
I suggest buying a good quality torque wrench!

NA to TT Power steering pump problems!
Another problem has arisen with the conversion! The NA and TT, PS pumps are different along with the brackets, also my convertible doesn't have Hicas and my TT donor does! The only solution we can come up with is to mill the NA pwer steering pump to fit the TT bracket! Any ideas!!

By some strange coincedence I damaged my firegear in a job and ripped out a plenum shaped hole in it!!!!:D :D :D

Heat resistant adhesive, where can I get it from!
I want to stick some heat resistant matting to the underside of my plenum! It is a cloth type material being stuck to metal and it has to withstand the heat from the Tubs and manifolds! NE1 know where I could get this from?

Thermostat change
I have done it with the rad out and with it in! For the ten minutes it takes to remove it from harms way, it ain't worth keeping it in there! One slip and it could cost you £100 plus
-
Thermostat change
err you don't need to take the cambelt covers off!! I don't think I took the boost pipes off either, can't remember to be honest!!
-
Thermostat change
LOL, No I will only have a manual so I just take the rad out easy:D

555 injectors,
You are best off ringing Turbotechnics, if you are not sure what turbo you have and they will be the best people to tell you! If you are still not sure get the car dynoed and they would be able to tell you if your injectors are leaning out!

He's not a member of the Zed Club, IS HE?:D :D ;)

555 injectors,
Hi, You don't need 550 injectors unless you have upgraded turbos! Stock injectors on stock turbos can go up to 17psi!

What No. Piston did your engine fail on?
Kirbz, You are doing an engine rebuild, you can remove the old casting flashings then! All you do is knock out the core plugs and get a coarse round file and get working!
-
What No. Piston did your engine fail on?
Thanks but the engine is back together now:D
-
What is the direction of coolant flow around the engine!
Does the coolant flow around the nearside of the engine first and return on the offside?
-
What No. Piston did your engine fail on?
Roy, No mate it wouldn't weaken the area, if you saw it you would see what I mean! It is almost like a thin fold of metal virtually covering no 4 and 6 also restricting no 5's coolant flow! I think AndyG has some pictures of the work we did on this, but I don't think it would come out well on the photos!
-
What No. Piston did your engine fail on?
I think the only answer is when you do an engine rebuild, is to take the core plugs out and remove the casting flashings from around those cylinders!

What No. Piston did your engine fail on?
Stu come to think of it mate, I don't think the fuel system can be at fault since the fuel pump and rail can handle up to 600BHP alledgedly!
