Plumbing advice!!
Hi, I have bypassed the clutch boost tanks and just have the booster hose going directly to the clutch booster, do I still need to have the one way valve in line? There is a very small diameter outlet on the L/hand bulkhead side of the balance bar, what does this do and connect to? On the right hand side of the engine there are two small diammeter pipes running along side the base of the plenum, am I right in thinking these feed the AIV and EGR systems?

Thor Dyno Results
Lets see at the weekend :D

Thor Dyno Results
Yes at at a boost pressure that can be run everyday!

FWHP? Never said it was impossible just very difficult, the only guy I think definately had it was John Dixon! You have to lose some BHP, because there was no tyres/wheels involved, which in your case has to be a bonus

Woohoo just fixed the washing machine!
EEEEERRRRRRRR lets no go there!!!! LMAO

Woohoo just fixed the washing machine!
Had it in bits, sorted it out put back together and it is doing me undercrackers as I speak!!!! TT conversions and now Zanussi watch out, and before you ask no it wasn't a TwinTub  Might take the Zanussi down to Thor and see what it is giving me at the Drum LOL!!!!! HHHHHHuuurrgghhhooo I've still got it (scarey spice style)!!!!!!!!

Thor Dyno Results
The figures that impress me the most are John Dixons, stock tubs and injectors and only running 14.5psi! 358@ the wheels very impressive, with room for more!

Rolling Road - 24th January 2004
Out of interest who went to both the SE and Thor RR days? Were your mods different between the two days? How did your BHP figures compare?

Jae 2004 Update
No worries Steve, I trust your input will ensure a great event as it has done in the past!

Jae 2004 Update
Cheers steve. By the way have had no contact as of yet from the organisers. Also will you still have the umphfluence to get us the pitch you wanted for us all?

I Went To RR Day At THOR Today......
Hi stu, What did you make at 14.5 psi?

Your thoughs on Turbos please
If u want more power then u'ii have more lag, but if u put td-0516g and do your work on the manifolds and on the plenums both upper and lower then u would go for the greeddy rather than the PE. TD05-16G already come with manifolds as part of the kit! But for me they are twice the price of the Pe1420's, are less responsive, have noisy external wastegates and offer the power in the top end of the graph. Again it all boils down to personal preferences, I like driveability, but if you are just after BHP then the Greddy kits are the way to go!

What mods have you got?
Stuffed into a squashed FROG!!!! :D :D :D

Top Zed Mechanic found in the South East!
I am indebted to him otherwise I would have been in the brown stuff with this project, he is a top guy trust me! BTW have a look at courtesey website they have a complete cambelt kit on there!!

Top Zed Mechanic found in the South East!
H Guys, Have found that rarest of rare species,a competent, reliable, resonable mechanic in the south east! He owns a Zed himself and has worked on several for AndyZ, he also helped me to complete my NA to TT conversion on my convetible Zed. So if that isn't a baptism of fire I don't know what was!!! He also built a formula ford championship winning engine, the name of the team escapes me now! His workmanship is painstakingly meticulous, with him taking more car on my car than I would of done! My only regret with this is that he won't have anytime to work on my car when you bums get hold of his number :D Hi name is Martin and he is a nice guy so if any of you guys give him the run around you will have me to deal with, his number is 0797 937 5230. His workshop is near Crawley, but he will travel to most areas in the South East.

Your thoughs on Turbos please
In my opinion the TD04's are a none starter, little BHP for the money and you might as well get the 530's or 1420's! Can you give us some more info on the management systems as I would be interested to know why you prefer them?

Your thoughs on Turbos please
Sorry mate you are right, trying to read through my post, but an excessive amount of caffeine today could mean an error is a high probability LOL!

Your thoughs on Turbos please
360 rwhp is a sort of no mans land! 400-410BHP is about 350ish at the wheels and this is difficult to achieve with stock turbos and injectors etc, probably about 370-380 at the crank is achieveable with the stock turbos etc. If you want above that figure it will probably cost you about £3K for parts! And you might as well go for 500BHP as this will cost the same!

What is the best electronic boost controller and why?
So if I am reading this correctly you can also wire in the Profec e01 to monitor and warn of excessive parameters within the engine? Could it warn of high water temp etc? Would an extra wiring loom be required to set this up and would some of these only work with the emanage incorporated as well? Me and tronics don't get on

How Reliable is the Z?
Bloody el mike, sounds like you bought brand new gear there, or was it for company expenses? ;)

Your thoughs on Turbos please
Why should he go for engine management and not a chip, sure you have the flexibility. The only engine management system I would go for is Ash's Zemulator, but that is still too developemental at this point in time! You are talking about extude honing the plenum, very costly, and I think I might have heard there is not that much bhp to be gained from it. You get posistive boost from tdo5-16g at 2900rpm, where as the pe1420's you get it 2600 rpm! Here is some useful turbo information. http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=839668

Your thoughs on Turbos please
When you a getting to those levels of BHP, it has a lot of variables but if I had unlimited funds, I would want to have as much BHP without losing much of easy driveability of the Zed! This would be my choice of engine rebuild! Cleared out water channels in block! Remove Aiv, egr and PRVR systems! Pe1420's 555 injectors Gas flowed and ported head, three angle valve job, manifolds and lower manifold John Dixon Chip Ash's Dualz intake with Apexi filters HKS exhaust Greg Dupree split downpipes With that setup you should have 480ish RWHP, with virtually stock lag! Nice extras would be: Z1 wiseco pistons Z1 motorsport Radiator Upgraded Rad cap Traction Control HID lights R33 Vspec Brakes, with ferodo pads Suspension Techniques Sway bars Short Shifter RPS top of the range clutch and flywheel

What is the best electronic boost controller and why?
But I don't want to use greddy emanage!
