  1. Did a 12.9 later that day mate. Called it a day after thet, cant wait for the remap. Will be good to see what kind of difference it makes. And the car never missed a beat on a 450 mile round trip with 2 adults, 2 children and camping stuff, and 5 runs up the pod. Glad to hear all is going well with you mark. Im loving this car, i really am. danny
  2. Im back and did indeed run the car a ED saw. Ran a best of 12.9 with 111 mph terminal. Could probably get it down a little more, the launches arnt the greatest. Cant wait to be running full boost and a remap. Going to be mental. Poor show as usual from the Z's, or do i just go to pod at the wrong times? danny
  3. Just me then. Hopefully the weather will hold up. Will post my times after the weekend, got 13.1 with my last Z. So thats the time to beat. danny
  4. Is anybody going to the saturday night special this weekend at santa pod? Ive been every year for ages now and its a good weekend weather depending. Not that great to get loads of runs, but theres always a good mix of cars and people and theres always fireforce to watch. And also is there anyone who lives near there who can maybe give me a last minute weather report on friday. Its a long way to go if its going to rain. cheers danny
  5. Hmm, good point that. Ill try and find the temp sensor, no idea what it looks like but ill find out and get on the hunt. I can probably angle some of the air towards the air intake. Where would the standard oil temp sensor be?? danny
  6. He's a busy man, he's on here a lot so thought he might have commented. Probably thinks im driving it to softly.lol. Spoke to phil from blackmore/c&s wood today, he says the oil cooling system on the car is a bit on the overkill side, but on the plus side, ill never cook the engine, recommends making some kind of removable wind shield on the front bumper so i can remove it for trackdays, but for general driving cover up some if the coolers. Ill give it a go. Let you all know how i get on. cheers for the help and advice all. danny
  7. Nobody got any ideas about this?? Or do i have a unique problem. What i might actually have is a solution, i thought Z's had problems overheating. Just put on whats on mine and all your overheating problems will be solved. danny
  8. Any ideas how i may solve that? There is an electric fan that seems to come on at 80'C, but i thought that was for the coolant rad, which is also massive, gota say, mark made this car to stay cool, if we get some warm weather i might challenge myself to get it hot. lol. There is some smoke when i boot it, but looks more like an oil smoke than rich smoke. cheers danny
  9. coolant is normally about 70 or 80'C. I can get the oil temp up if i cane it but at any speeds above 50mph and i can watch the temp drop. As far a i know i have a toda motorsport high flow oil pump, 24 row mocal oil cooler, mocal thermo oil cooler flow valves. Not exactly sure about that lot, just had to look at markzx's rides for the spec. lol. Its his blue Z. And yeah, got aftermarket gauges. So i might be killing the engine and turbos all the time then? I do know the car is running rich and needs a remap, can that affect it? Would have thought that would affect coolant temp aswell. thanks again danny
  10. What is the correct running temperature for oil, My car runs at about 70'C. But if i go for a motorway blast, off boost though, the oil temp jus keeps dropping and goes as low as 55'C. So am i right in thinking that the engine is running on cold oil and can be getting damaged? Or should i just nail it everywere and keep it in boost? cheers danny
  11. Are there any actual performance gains with these or are they just for sound. My mate has an RX7 with twin K3 turbos with screamer pipes and that sounds demonic, but dont know if it makes any difference in power. danny
  12. You can get shock pumps for mountain bike shocks and forks. No idea what kind of pressure would be in car shocks but the pumps do really high pressures, and they have a gauge on them so you can check the pressure without letting any air out.

Happy birthday mate, hope you have a gooden, by the sounds of things its going to be. Do you think ill get that log book before your next birthday. lol .
  14. Your a funny guy. lol. Dont worry yourself about your beautiful car, its in good hands. Still needs the remap etc but its on the way. Am surprised to find the starter motor like that though, specially after having a new clutch fitted, the hydraulic line went a day later aswel. Spose thats just the way it goes. Thanks again everyone. danny
  15. Chris D.you got it bang on there mate, the starter motor was indeed hanging off the car, so i got it off and both holes where stripped. Nightmare. Ive re-tapped the threads now and put slightly longer and thicker bolts in. Anyone doing this in the future, dont put to long a bolt in, because it will hit the clutch/flywheel etc. Sounds obvious but worth mentioning. Car starts and runs fine now, and the original sqeaking noise has gone. Thanks for all you help guys, as ever, the 300zx club is an endless vat of knowledge. thanks again danny
  16. cheers lads, Phil at blackmoor service station did the clutch and flywheel, he would have done that im sure. I went out last night and the crunching when the car was starting got worse, then when i stopped the engine and tried starting it again the starter motor just spun and the engine didnt start. Is this a faulty solanoid or a new starter motor? And what kind of cost/work is involved if this is the case? thanks again. danny
  17. Another thing ive noticed, when i start the car there's a loud scrapping sound. Sounds like a heatshield catching on something spinning. And then the sqeaking takes over. Going to jack the car up and have a look underneath but any advice or potential thing to look for would be helpfull. cheers danny
  18. just bin out in the car again, its nothing like that, its from under the car, it stops compleely when i put the clutch in or even just apply pressure th the clutch pedal, it does it under acceleration, deceleration and normal crusing and at all speeds, unless i put the clutch in. It even started doing it when stationary, but again, stops when i press the clutch, so im thinking its something in the clutch. and its getting no better. cheers danny
  19. Ill try and be as specific as i can on this and ive done a search and found nothing. My car has been driving fine, no probs, then the other day i set off quick, the wheels spun, and the car juddered. But after that a sqeaking started, coming from the front somewhere. Not like a suspension creaking, more like a spinning noise. Like something is catching on something spinning. Quiet high pitch. I thought it was a turbo at first, but when i accelerate i can hear it, but when i put the clutch in the sqeaking stops. So my thoughts are its somewhere in the drivetrain, but after the clutch somewhere. Had a new clutch and flywheel last week (fidanza flywheel and rps max). Any ideas/help much appreciated, its a bit embarrasing. cheers danny
  20. saturday 26th, about 12 oclock, the first one had a scarab front bumper i think and was going past the leyland gates and the new morrisons with the roof off, good man. The second was my old Z, The reg started K300, looking as sexy as it ever did, smoking a bit though. Is it anyone on here? danny
  21. saw you wednesday afternon, about 4:15. The car had a bodykit but standard wheels. import i think. Looked like you'd just come off the M65 and headed for B&Q. hello danny
  22. Cheers for the responses guys. I heard that the clutch needed a bit of abuse every so often, and that it doesnt work well cold. So i went out and gave it some serious stick for a week. But it just got worse. It started off slipping in normal driving and being ok under hard driving, but after all the abuse, im fairly sure its a gonna. Never thought of the ajustment idea though, thought they were self ajusting. Look into that i will. The cars only just running a bar and not very healthily. My last had the rps max organic running 1 bar and i abused that with no probs. cheers danny
  23. Just wondering if anybody has every gone to exedy for a warranty issue. Ive been told that i have the carbon alloy clutch and its slipping. And apparently its got a lifetime warranty. Is that on the whole clutch, even the plates etc, or just the non wear bits. Any advice on how to go about this or is it new clutch time, and if so, what do people recomend? cheers danny
  24. Just backing up what others have said. I went to trade my last Z32 in for a 350Z, it had the GT pack and on the test drive i was impressed by everything apart from the acceleration, but the instant throttle response and torque kind of makes up for that. But much easier to drive and i would imagine to live with aswell, although the boot isnt as big on the 350 and with 2 small kids i would have thought the two small seats in the back of the 300 would be useful. ITs down to feel and personal taste at the end of the day. APS do a tasty twin turbo kit for the 350 though. danny
  25. I was never a guage kinda guy with my last Z. But my new one came with oil temp and pressure, water temp and boost. I think the oil temp is important because i used to wait for the stock water temp guage to be up to normal temp then assume the car was ready for blasting, but the oil temp guage shows that the engine is nowhere near warm. And a boost guage is important because the standard one works by guesswork i think.lol. So boost, oil temp and pressure, and a water temp somewhere else. cheers danny
