Tension Rods
I had standard arms with poly bushes on my last Z, and apparently there were installed wrongly, and they broke away from were they mount to the lower arm (the 2 bolts). I think your meant to fit and tighten them while the car is on its wheels and not in the air. So on my current Z i have the powertrix ajustable ones. The front is a solid bush rather that poly, so it rotates smoother and puts less stress on the tension rod/lower arm joint. Think the same fitting rules apply. Thats what ive gathered along my merry way and might all be wrong. But its working so far. Cheers danny

wipers wont stop
The fault with my wipers has been on and off for the past year, sometimes they'd be fine and then others, mostly they were always on and i had to catch the switch between intermitant and on. Cheers paul, but the cars off the road at the minute so im just going to order one and have done with it. This is tho onle thing i hadnt tried and now ive unplugged it they've stopped. Cheers danny

wipers wont stop
Motor didnt cure it, ironic that this thread has just re surfaced. Because ive just started trying to solve mine again before it goes on the road. I unplugged the little white box in the drivers footwell and the wipers stopped. So im assuming thats at fault, obviously no intermitant wipe with that unplugged though. Were can i get a new one of them from then?? Cheers danny

Front brake upgrade - unbalanced ?
I would say you cant go wrong with a skyline R33, R34, or 350Z brembo upgrade. THey work with the ABS system fine and loads of people put them on just the front or all round with no probs. Think the rears are prety much the same anyway. cheers danny

Wheel Spacers
I have 5mm spacers on the front of mine, just so the wheel clears the calliper. But i dont think they are hubcentric ones as i do get vibration, and ive had all wheels balanced. Were can i get 5mm hubcentric ones and would i need to do the rears? Not looking for a wider stance, just need to clear them front callipers. cheers danny

Cant boost past 17-18psi, causes?! expert opinoins plz jimmer? legrath? jeff? smithy?
this sounds familiar. Only i got to the rolling road and JD spent some time on it before concluding that it was my actuators. He didnt charge the earth though. thank god. And like he said earlier in the thread, its the springs on my GT28RS's that cant hold the boost. So mine was reaching 18psi and falling to 14 just like yours. Dont think mine are ajustable though and havent get round to uprating them, baffles me why they would spec a turbo rated to run 20psi with such weak springs. Good luck with it mate and let us know. Cheers danny

300zx.co.uk Nurbergring Trip 2010
im going over on the easter weekend next year. Going with a few lads who have been a few times. If there's a decent time gap after that then ill be well up for it. I wouldnt mind making a proper trip of it, Z's were made for driving. Like the idea of the support van aswell, nice one Jeff. cheers danny

A/C removal
i wish my car still had it. Like has been said, very hot in summer, especially with the black leather. Yes you can take the roof off, but not ideal for long motorway journeys. I cant say the advantages of removing it out weight the disadvantages for not having it. Personal opinion of coarse. cheers danny

Remote control petrol cars
i have had a few of the nitro cars in the past. But my advice would be to go for a proper petrol (2 stroke) model. They are that bit bigger and loads more reliable. the nitro ones just seem fiddly and really tempremental. loads of fun though. Cheers danny

Another interesting 300zx vs supra
My best time to date is 12.9, thats with 409 bhp. probably averaged 13 on the day and did 5 runs at santa pod. Thats on road tyres, standard diff. But the suspension is set up for road and track not drag. I personally think the z's are terrible for drag unless you spec them for it. Ive tried everything in the past to launch and it just doesnt happen. ill get beat on shorter races by cars with half that power. Just cause the launch is so bad. Anything over a quarter mile though and ill jump all over em. danny

tyre valve help
i had this problem with my normal looking valves. Took it to a tyre place and they let the tyre down and took it off, and my valves were the bolt through kind. But the hole in the rim was about half the diameter of the standard valve size. So the actual valves taperd down to fit through the rim. Couldnt find them anywere so in the end had to drill the rims and put some competition bolt through valves in. So be warey of there standard looking valves. danny

just got a Z32 but its soooo slow
no mate, very few things are standard. Got an rps max clutch and fidanza flywheel. Its the grip on the launch. Tried nailing it and side stepping the clutch, tried easing the clutch in, tried letting it bog and then nailing it. But 5 seconds is the best i can muster. But on a rolling start, say 30 mph, well, thats a completely different story. danny

just got a Z32 but its soooo slow
good luck trying to get the Z to do 0-60 in under 5. Ive got just over 400bhp and i can only get a 5. Thats measured with one of those g-tech meters, which ive got to say, are quiet accurate. i am, however, by no means a drag master and my car isnt set up for drag racing. But like everyones said, all the little cars might leave you at the line, but its like they're on an elastic band when you fly past them as the speeds get higher. danny

Wastegates opening too soon with EBC
i have a greedy profec eo1 boost controller fitted. And yes they are 8psi springs. Ive had 3 boost leak tests at three different places, myself and a compressor, phill nixon at blackmore service station, and jeff at Z world. And there are no leaks. But still the boost controller wont hold the boost. It will spike at 18 or so psi and then tail off as the revs climb. Tried all kinds of settings with the gain etc and it makes no difference at all to the boost curve. So where can i get these uprated actuators, which ones do i need etc. Or can it be something else. I have it on good authority that its the actuator springs though. Cheers danny

Wastegates opening too soon with EBC
did you solve this problem mate? Ive had my car on the rolling road recently and the boost tails off and i was told it was the actuator springs. Now i thought i could just get stiffer springs but then i was told that i neede uprated actuators aswell. I have the garrett gt2871 r/s turbos so thought they would have springs strong enough to hold the 18-20 psi they are rated at. But aparrently they just have 8psi springs in. So can i just get uprated springs, or do i need the actuators, and where do i get these parts from. cheers danny

New product: TwinZ rear bumper with diffuser
there arent many bumpers that would make me change mine but that rear is one of them. 2+2 that is. would be interested in the group but if the price is right. Also a bit off topic but does anyone know what wheels they are? cheers danny

Electric fan
Well i got my car like it is mate, but the guy who built it (markzx) doesnt come on here much anymore. But id try PM'ing him and see if he's about. Like i said he went through loads of cooling problems. Although im sure many others on here have. Good luck anyway, let us know how you get on. danny

Afr tuning
Thanks for that mate. Mr dixon says he's on the case this week. So ill let you know how that goes. Id rather him do it to be honest. but ill let you know. Thanks again danny

What tyres are you running
Bridgestone S02 all round. Had the FK452's on my last Z with less power and that broke traction all the time. Just got a new set of the bridgestones on and it only lets go when i make it. In the dry of coarse. But even in the wet they are good. cheers danny

Electric fan
Well my aircon is removed. Wish it wasnt but id rather the Z run cool than me.lol. The guy who built my car went mad on cooling the thing. And rightly so, if you want the power reliably, then things have to stay cool. Does the oil cooling system not have any effect on this by the way? Surely if the oil temp is nice and low then the overall engine temp will be lower. And i would have thought the style of front bumper/bonnet/headlight panel would all make a difference. cheers danny

Electric fan
Is this not just one of them topice thats 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. I have had 1 midly tuned Z with the viscous fan, and my current Z with a high engine spec and with an aftermarket rad (power enterprize) and an electric fan (20" pacet). These came on the car and yes, im sure they were expensive. But the extra throttle response without the viscous fan is worth it alone. I think if you go helf hearted and buy a budget elecy fan then your asking for trouble. But shell out for the decent stuff and then you get the gains. In normal driving my coolant temp sits around 70 C, if im in traffic in summer, it'll go to 83 ish, then the fan kicks in and the temp just drops right back down. On the track it did see 90, maybe 93. But that was after 7 hard laps of castle combe, the last 2 with a servere boost leak. So if your on a budget, stick with the viscous, if your going all out, and are prepared to spend the cash. Electric all the way Just my opinion of coarse. cheers danny
