  1. For 18psi i run .035 so for 20-25psi you could start around that and gap them down if you experience spark blow out.But an amplifier will help as stated.
  2. Oh shit the man with the red car is back.make it go away :D. How ya doing mate.
  3. That sounds like big ends IMHO.the noise is to heavy for lifters. To prove it retard the timing.this decreases load on the pistons which causes the clack as the journal slops around in the bearing.
  4. Faulty o2 sensors will not cause excessive white smoke. The ecu will default to rich if it cant read the o2 sensors which will give you soot on the back bumper.
  5. if your car is de catted, putting the cats back on will probaly stop the smoke.
  6. Sometimes when cars are overheated the heads lift with the expansion and the gaskets stop sealing.Did the bolts feel a little looser than you expected?
  7. A common misconception yet regarded as the correct and proper way?? id rather have to explain the cost to many of my engine rebuild customers then apologise that i did it on the cheap and it went wrong.alloy heads can be a pain to clean up after removal so a light skim gives a good surface for the new gasket especially if steel multi layered ones are used which are far less forgiving than asbestos types.I really dont see how around 6 thou removed from a face is going to weaken it that much or cause compression issues unless your running very high boost pressure .
  8. Its the hole in One as youd know it.
  9. it can be done in situ if its a turbo model but it would be far easier to remove the engine.
  10. ^^^^^^^^^ Yes not worth all that effort and not having them skimmed. If the heads are not warped now they probaly will when you undo the bolts.
  11. Id dont see how it means the pump is at fault if you do really have low oil pressure. The pressure in an engine is kept by the close fitting of journals to their bearings.if the journal to bearing clearance is high then you will lose pressure.Pumps seldom fail in my experience.
  12. Run mine on the semi and its good kit.GFS sell it for peanuts.
  13. Do they do donuts at that pub??:wack: I,ll get me coat.
  14. Murt i dont mind you doing it but im not going to softplay once a month or meeting up for cowboys and indians :D
  15. Yeh Gloucester who??
  16. I reckon my old man should take the hot seat. What do people reckon. We may have to persuade him though.
  17. Well the meet today didnt happen.Reo hasnt been on since the 11th so wouldnt know if anybody was going or not.?
  18. The only place they can leak is from the camshaft seal or the vtc cover plate.Ones an o ring and the other a lip seal.Bit cheaper than a new pulley bud.
  19. You can put me on the list.i have consult and datascan and live in Bristol.
  20. Nothing up with black bonnets mate.Andy and me are very fond of our black bonnets. :D
  21. As i said the new belt will have lines on it that sit adjacent the cut outs in the sprockets. As long as these lines and cut outs are lined up correctly and the dot on the crank sprocket is next to the belt line the timing will be fine. The dimples on the back plates are only a guide as the belt lines are what should be used when timing the engine. If your still not sure id get somebody in to do it for you as a mistake will prove costly.
  22. It doesnt matter if the sprockets move slightly as long as the lines on the belt are adjacent the cut outs in the sprockets then you are still on the money.
