  1. Run the heater on the car, this activates the ficd valve which raises the idle speed.if the smoke stops its a good sign yer tubs are passing oil. This usually works,it seems at idle the seals pass but at a slightly higher idle speed this seems to prevent oil passing.Ive known on numerous occasions this works.
  2. that blank is where a blank would go but thats not it.Get a switch relocation kit and plumb it where the blank is then bin the bodged stock pipe and run a braided line from the banjo straight to the turbo.do not use the "k"banjo on a ball bearing turbo as its restricted inside.
  3. Only US cars had the sender on the oil filter side matey.that pic is a bad bodge of a stock oil feed, shocking workmanship.I relocate the sender to the filter side when fitting bb turbos.
  4. Last i heard Greg was living in Taunton and had gone through a messy seperation from his missus.
  5. I agree mate, anybody that says taking the box out is easier than undoing a pinch bolt on the steering u/j and undoing 4 crossmember bolts is clearly deranged imho ! its a massive no brainer.
  6. That was James (jaffa) driving home from my place after some new turbos,he said he saw you.He must have been driving like a vicar for him to be in your rear view mirror bud.
  7. Thank got that will be hidden Pete, ive just binned a good pair too !!
  8. Hi Mark, A lot of stuff is belt n braces with these cars, unless your engine is cammed and will make crazy rev limits its pointless mate.
  9. the piston has detonation damage mate, its classic under fuelling not a heat issue,he had 14 afr on full boost.no 6 goes because its last in line for fuel.
  10. Anybody up there ,yes thats you Mikey, get down there,i would go but im away in france and the race is the day after i return so i will be recovering from serious alcohol consumption,if anybodies wondering if this car is a serious contender i know it is.James needs our support as hes invested lots of time and lots of money to get this car to this level.Having drove and worked on it i can say its a winner for sure.
  11. Ian it went somehow,i dont know how but it did,i liked it too.i dont have the foggiest how to re instate it either.it was done for me.im poo with computers tbh.
  12. That psiton has suffered classic detonation damge,a first oversize re bore will cure that, the crank sprocket should have been drilled then split thus saving your probaly good oil pump ooppps.Just get ACL bearings, the nissan gradings were only relevant when the engine was new tbh and its crazy anyway, iirc 6 microns between no 1 and 4 grading wtf,its typical Japanese over the top engineering.
  13. Never use one unless it has multiple plates, just use your eyes mate.
  14. I agree James, that is a recipie for disaster,no wonder it went bang !! that piston has detonation damage for sure,if left it would have tracked down the side of the piston. The afr is well off.
  15. pcv delete is fine when your running a map sensor,if your running a maf then basically your creating an air leak in the system which will cause all sorts of issues hence why removing the oil filler cap on a running zed causes idle issues etc.
  16. Its probaly only held in with a few bolts, wing nuts in fact Lol.
  17. 2k if it all goes right,if it all goes wrong and a lot can do ..............
  18. jaffas car is getting a remap soon.watch this space.big numbers are coming.650 flywheel at least.could hit 800 too be honest.
  19. Id port and polish the heads, get AMS Exhaust manifolds and you should be there with a custom map.

Im not so sure really and the interest is shocking anyway tbh.id like to hope so.so good people have picked up the ball over the years and thrown it back in despair after a short term.
  21. Getting to the magic 500 bhp will take quite a few mods.a rebuild wont give you that much power back mate.Big blowers aint all thats needed if the heads and manifolds wont flow.Id say your dyno was rather generous if im honest and in the real world youll need quite a few more mods to hit 500.

Tis a sad day,end of the region imho.game over.Knew it would happen eventually.oh well we had some good times over the years.Dave still has a collection of south west vids i believe.
  23. Are you serious ? do you understand what they do and how they work, they are coated metal layers which when clamped create a seal.its not a gamble i can assure you,i never suggested it for a joke. When you take them off you will see what i mean.On the US forums people have re used them 5 times with no issues.I know of two people personnally running used cometic gaskets with no issues whatsoever. But if you know best........
  24. jimmer replied to murt's topic in Events - UK
Thanks for all your input Matt you did a great job, thats the end of the region now, someone turn the light off on the way out will you.I cant forsee anybody stepping up to the plate.
  25. cometic gaskets will go again,id re use them if ok.They are metal so dont compress :thumbup1:
