  1. The ficd is purely to up engine revs when under load from the aircon etc.It basically is an on/off plunger that opens a drilling alowing excess air increase engine revs.If the idle valve value fluctuates it could be purely that the ecu is trying to compensate for an air leak and not the valve being faulty.
  2. if it needs a clutch go sick Jeff !!
  3. This is a great series guys and flys the flag for 300s,i wish more people would come along and give more support to these guys.id like to see a club stand at these events to show how proud we are of the car and its prowess in events like this.

  5. Hi Pete, Round 2 ALREADY !! see you there fella.looking forward to it.
  6. if its not broke leave it,the common failure ptu myth is hardly relevant now 20 odd years later, mines the one it came with and its a 91 model.
  7. Im stunned,Hes been on here since i can remember.Rest in peace fella.Their but for the grace of god go i springs to mind. Can anybody please shed any light on his passing ?
  8. Imho if you opening up the engine, youll need to re ring it at least,if the pistons are good that is,if the budget wont stretch to forged pistons then get the bores measured if they are in tolerance then get some new Rock pistons from Z1,the bores will need honing for this to de glaze them so the new rings bed in,its a no brainer to restore compression with new rings or pistons and not do the heads as the youll get problems,if they are flat after removal have the valve faces and seats re cut so they seal correctly, the exhaust valve seats will be badly pitted with age so its a must.stock gaskets will be fine if your not chasing crazy power.Get the crank checked for size and ovality have some new shells put in.have any seals changed and get a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat and bridge hoses. At least then youll have some faith in it.The biggest power increase you can make aside tubs injectors etc is using larger diameter intercooler pipes. The stock ones are restrictive and dyno tests in the states have shown amazing gains by fitting them.Youll pick up quite a bit of torque and quicker spool with them.
  9. sounds like the high idle issue is the problem tbh,as your slowing in gear the engine is pulling against the slowing transmission.Does your car have a manual conversion ? what is the idle valve percentage at idle on consult ?
  10. I love the billy and Johnnys in the engine bay pic,a true painter and decoraters outfit LOl
  11. was it you Marty ?
  12. Who won these on e bay, anyone on here, somebody got a bargain ! i got outbid at the last minute  :pinch:
  13. That just about sums it up Richard.couldnt put it better if i tried.
  14. Take the bottom of the guide off it helps flow :thumbup1: Mark you didnt lap the valves in without getting the seats and faces cut ? the inlets may seal ok but the exhaust seats will never lap properly
  15. 20 minutes per head mate, done a few lol a decent spring compressor would help, where did you get that ? a ford model T toolkit !!
  16. I was too,479 and climbing, det stopped play.wanted the magic 500 but never got there. If the afr gauge had been hooked up it would have helped.
  17. I will be joining you,Great woman to be respected for her contribution to this Country.I think Maggie did a great job and needs to be remembered for this,i just watched some socialists dancing on a newspaper picture of her and my piss boiled, they were about twenty years old ffs !! how dare they, they never saw the 70s and the shit Labour put us in.Rather like the the last term where they ruined the country again.Despite popular belief Maggie wasnt all for the rich i get tired hearing that old chestnut, she helped thousands of blue collar workers owna home, encouraged people to start their own businesses, crushing the unions wasnt an attack on workers it was aimed at the unions strangling the country and making us the laughing stock of europe.Nobody would deal with us.Its a great lost to Politics and the fact she got elected 3 times says it all.......... Rip Iron Lady
  18. AH Hans Brix yer busting my balls !!
  19. The only reason this has been left to festor is a lack of oil in NK,Saddam was a nutter and had terrible things done to his oponents but hey nobody cared about that really it was oil that kick started the USA into action, this fruit loop is far more dangerous and needs wiping off the planet asap.why are we waiting ffs.i say round em up,put em in a field and bomb the *******s :thumbup1:
  20. The chassis rail is only double skinned at the front and not meant for jacking at the rear,if you look behind the rear sill there are raised points next to the front subframe mounts, support it there.
  21. I fitted some for Funki and he never complained at the ride....say no more Lol
  22. Last set i did i got bolts welded back in,i cant recall the name of them but a rod is available for an arc welder to join different metals.
  23. I thought you said on FB Mark that balance pipes before the throttle bodies look shit
  24. Just fit locking collars Joel, half the price, easy to install and you never have to replace later. They dont make much of a compromise in ride either imho.
