A question? Is it fair to say that Zeds that have been tampered with re power and performance are less reliable than those not. My reason is that I have owned mine for about 4 years now and it has not had a great deal done ecept for a mongoose system. But it seems (touch wood ) very reliable. Yet I see on lots of occasions problems with zeds that have been modified in some way.

Some ebay ads are pretty vague when it comes to details - but this one for a 300zx just takes the piss. Do some people not want to sell the car??!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/nissan-300zx-tt-auto-/250646541741?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5bb2b5ad It looks very nice, but at £7k, I'd want some sort of idea what I'm looking at. :pinch:

Hmm got a slight issue, one of the local buses was blundering through the village today, the drivers forget that althogh the same length as a minibus they are the same width as a normal bus so i had no where to go as he didnt pull into the space I left for him. Stupid fool shouldnt have come up the road anyway, obstruction was on his side! My zed is too low to get on the curb there so long story short iv curbed one of my wheels badly, and caught the rear wheel as well. Pain in the arse, although I was never too fond of the black with red rim anyway - what colours should I consider? At the moment I'm really fancying a bronze colour a bit like the old wheels that …

Well we finally got the zed running properly last week as the car only had 1st and 2nd gear  (thanks old zed the gearbox works perfectly ) just need to de-limit it now  So today we decided to have a nice drive around London enjoying the good-ish weather, targas off etc... when an old man (he must of been atleast 80+) in his 58 plate VW polo decided to hit my dads zed!! :gun_bandana:  We were literally stopped in traffic on a roundabout, next to the exit (which only has one lane for the exit) and he decided to accelerate right into the drivers side door scrapping it and denting it along with breaking the wing mirror  claims the car to his…

  7. First of all i would like to say hi to all the guys on the forum and i should of really introduced myself in the newb section first, so forgive me diving straight in to my problems.. Well about 9 months ago my friend and i purchased a 300zx TT 1990 ,the car was brought as a non runner for £800 which seemed cheap as it had only done 3k on a brand new gearbox and the guy had owned it for 8 years and spent lots of money making it as powerfull as he could. there is a dyno run printout with the car from 2004 showing 650bhp so the thought of owning such a beast made it an easy decision,,we soon got the car running after some fuel and a jump start, but it ploomed blue smok…

Some people have put the box at the front of the n/s leg but on the inside , i,m fitting a FMIC which has twin air filters so it would be very difficult to get to it to change a fuse . Having done away with the standard IC,s there was loads of room to the outside of the leg and an easily removable splash shield to gain access . I had a look where the wiring goes through the inner wing and measured the hole , then the fuse box and realised that it might squeeze through , i needed to unclip the wiring from behind the wing which was off as i,ve got some welding to do but this can be done just by removing the slpash shields I bent the bottom edge of the hole down a l…

Hi Guys, Have not been on here in a while because car has generally been running fine apart from one REALLLLY annoying problem that caused an accident today so I really need to get it sorted!!! At low speeds or from standstill after blipping the throttle the engine almost dies or stalls completely. This is a real problem when accelerating onto slow moving roundabouts when I would blip the throttle then coast or brake to match the speed of traffic. This happened today - I was pulling onto a roundabout blipped the throttle and as the revs fell the car died!! A guy had decided to tailgate me onto the roundabout and ended up veering onto the centre of the island to …

Afternoon Folks, As i'm in a bit of a predicament with my choice of new brake setup it has left me with a few options to consider Go for broke and buy the 330mm setup and flog the 358mm fronts. Sell my wheels and change them or something that fits beneath the arch and accommodates the caliper. Those of you who have this setup what type of wheels and tyres do have to allow you to have the larger brake setup, would really rather not go down the arch rolling malarky if I can help it. At the moment the 18's that are on the car hit the inner linings and catch the arch when going over bumps (had to use 25mm spacers). Cheers for all help and advice! …

If i had a set of alloys, fronts being offset of 30 which is perfect i am lead to believe for them to fill the arches.........rears would be 32 offset though, what spacers would i need to resemble a 35offset, to fill the arches? I have 20mm spacers but would this be to much? also.........if i had 35 offset rears and 32 offset fronts would they stick out to much or what? would spacers be needed and what size?

As you may have seen, my Zed failed its MOT due to excessive blue smoke at idle and under heavy acceleration. I have done a compression test today and the results range from 165 – 171 (done dry if that is important). From other threads this is good isn’t it? Does this mean that it is likely to be the PCV assembly for the idle (only happens once warmed up and left to idle for a few minutes) and the turbo’s for the heavy acceleration? I have the option to buy some replacement turbo’s today, so advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark

Sorry it has been a while since my last post, I have been busy cutting out rusty sills and floors etc'. However, It's been the best part of 2 years now so I thought I would run the engine for the first time. (I have been turning her over periodically) She fired up first time!! slightly noisy on 1 or 2 tappets but no major issues. My question is, What readings should I be seeing on the boost gauge? I have only revved her a little once warmed up and the needle just sits there just to the right of centre, Is that normal or do I have a problem? Thanks in advance, Redwine300

Argh, why do I do it, whenever I change something on a 300 it causes me more hassle than its really worth. I upgraded my Brembos to K-sport 8 pots; originally the car had D2 8 pot on it which I thought were the same caliper so shouldnt be an issue. The car had a 15mm spacers on the front which just cleared the D2 setup before it was replaced with the Brembo's. When I had the K-sport setup installed I couldnt get away with using 15mm or 20mm I had to go straight to 25mm Hubcentric spacers (for some reason the caliper required an extra Cm over the D2 setup!). It now looks like the wheels rub on the inner linings and on he arch when turning and going over bumps. Wh…

Driving back home today, and a well tuned pulsar joins the game. The lads look at me, and smile, here we go, i think. Dont mind if i do, well it is a Nissan. Then WHAM....... He is off, popping and flames from the exhausts, i can keep up, but only just. after a few miles of very aggressive driving, we manage to slow down to an acceptible level, have a little chat, turns out he is running 400bhp +. Ive been up againest a standard one before and had no problems, but this thing was brutal, very very quick indeed. Hats off to you bud, atleast if wasnt a poxy scooby..............

I drove up to assist Mark today on his zed, managed to sort a few things, and get her working better, but still couldnt locate the boost issue. While we had two zeds together, rude not get another, so a quick call to Baz (sonic) and 10 mins later we were now 3. Nice to meet you mark, and cheers for the tea. Hope i helped your knowledge a bit. If you need any bits, just let me know Baz, glad you a good holiday mate, and im glad we have now established that my zed is younger than yours :wheelchair::wheelchair: Had a play with a well tuned pulsar on way home and have now spent most of my fuel.
