I dont know how many more bulshit excuses these firms think of to raise the premium. Here goes: my insurance is due for renewal in a few weeks, last year i paid £309.50 FC inc policy fee, accident plus etc. I just had my renewal quote of £426.50. Same company, same details, nothings changed. I phoned my broker, who cant really understand why its gone up but said that most insurance has gone up by about 20% this year, so why has mine gone up by about 40%, couldnt really explain. I phone the insurance company direct and they state that from January this year the import policy rules and rates have changed, although not necessarily because the car is an import, but d…

Guys Got the first two of my new secondhand wheels from japan http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250636478761&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I expect the other two will be here tmoz?? Anyhows they dont look that wide but I know nothing about wheel sizes or offsets etc. Anyhows any way I can check the offsets before I go and put them up for sale if they definately will not fit? I have not got the car back yet, do you think its worth putting them on without tyres before I go and get rid of them because they are too wide for my standard arches?. Nice wheels, if they dont fit my zed im sure they will look absolutely stunning on someon…

The problem is the climate pod. Let's say I turn on AUTO and ECO. Turn of the car. When I start the car again it just goes to AUTO and I have to manually turn on ECO again. Is it supposed to be like that? Is there anything I can do about it? It's a bit annoying:cursing:

sat in traffic at lights, going out of central Portsmouth, approx 5.15 pm today, heading past dockyard walls - I was cycling along the pavement and beat you to the lights:tongue: Looked tidy and not one of the usual ones around this way.

Hi folks, I've got myself a small issue with my shifter in that I cannot go from 5th down into 4th, at least not before going into 3rd first. There seems to be some sort of stop or gate in the way preventing the downshift. Now I was wondering if anybody's heard of this sort of problem and what the fix is. When trying to shift down there is no crunching of gears so i'm guesing is was the new shifter that the previous owner had on it. If I was to put an original shifter back on to test what bits do i need ? Cheers Lee

I've had a few turbocharged cars over the years, and the 300zx is certainly the quietest when it comes to turbos spooling up. I'm assuming their location and maybe size doesn't really help, but is there anything that can be done to make it louder? My mate said that on his 200sx he got some large bore copper pipe and put it somewhere on the system replacing a rubber pipe (cant remember where!) and the noise echoed through and sounded great. Do you think thats something that can be done on a Z? or am I just being stupid? :online2long:

Hi, Well operation zed rebuild is moving forwards now (check out my link in my sig) & am having the sills replaced & a full respray. The main thing I am considering is some side skirts - what do you think, yes or no as am undecided (I know its personal preference!). My car styling is fairly stock & would like to keep it that way, so if any I would only choose some subtle looking ones (no comments like "da zed lookz well wikid wiv some vileside skirtz on it, I is only 13 and a half but is gonna get a zed when I is 17 n dey are da bomb on it, innit"!!) Any pics of some subtle ones - how about with door fill panels to match?! Also conside…

Hi Guys - Recently the aircon seems to have been doing some strange things. It had been working perfectly up to this point. It started early yesterday morning when it would only seem to pump out cold air (even though I was trying to warm the car) then there was a sudden gush of condensation/steam over the windscreen and the engine temp gauge shot right up so I pulled over straight away. I let the car rest for two minutes and started up again and everything seemed to be working normally. But since then I have noticed it is taking ages to get cold and there seems to be a slightly musty/damp odour in the car all the time. Also I have seen that the passenger foot…

Bit of advice please. I've been speaking with TEIN US and TEIN UK and neither can supply inner and outer tie rod ends for my Z32. I know that SPL in the US offer SPL outers with TEIN Z33 inners that 'should' fit but I don't know of anybody in the UK who has these fitted (anybody??) I've just come across another company in the States called 'Wicked Tuning' who supply parts for a few of the teams competing in D1. Does anybody have parts fitted to their 'Z's from Wicked Tuning? or can anybody advise on whether they are a decent brand or not? Their website looks pretty good but I just wanted to check before shelling out a load of cash on importin…

Anyone know anything about Triumph Dolomites? This is my Question to you! I have had my 300 a long time now (3years this month) and i am getting abit bored of it now i must say! Parts are stupidly expensive and i find i can only do normal mechanical tasks whereas on our cars at work i have the confidence to do more and more (rebuilt an engine and changing gearboxes which seems to becoming an almost weekly thing) I feel i will be selling up soon once i get round to touching up the interior and getting its new mot this week. So i have been on the prowl so to speak for a groovy RWD car with a budget of MAX 3k (although im certain i can get 3500+ for mine) and i jus…

Ok, i've bought some Koni shocks with Eibach springs from Toftdale on here so hoping to have them fitted next month. What other "cheap" parts are worth changing while the suspension is out? Garaged mentioned about new Bump stops or something but not being mechanically minded i haven't a clue. is it worth doing Droplinks and stuff and i'd also like to do the front bushes but these seem a bit pricey. Just thought i'd get as many little things done while the suspension is out. Any help / eBay links appreciated. :)

Time to change 4 tires on my Z, actually I wear four Yokohama Advant Sport, not to say they are bad but...I don´t really feel comfy with them on the drive..maybe is because my drive mostly is street drive and not racing...so some friends have told me to go for Bridgestone Potenza 050 they said they are very good and comfy...and some others also have mentioned me Yokohama A048, but I beleive this is a racing tire ..please wich one would you choose?? Bridgestone Potenza? or Yokohama?? Need some clues here Folks Cheers:oops:

I'm hoping to change all brakes on the zed frmo stock to R33 GTR calipers and discs this weekend with braided brakelines. Obviously will run through a flush of the oil as well and have been reading on here that dot 5.1 is probably the best candidate for replacing the old stuff. My question is....what's the difference between all the different brands? Is there any?? Had a quick squizz on ebay and there seems to be a fair bit of difference! Admittedly I forgot about the brake fluid so need to get my hands on stuff fairly swiftly as hoping to do the work on Sat... ...any links/advice/tips would be much appreciated!! Thanks all...
