General Discussions - 300ZX Related

right has anyone run a Z on 10w-50 oil before? my whole cars been stripped back, new gaskets turbos, feeds and various other mods, ( its not finished yet as have run out of funds to get the last few bits, ) have been offered some Silkolene pro s 10w50 at £36 for 5litres oil on a group buy with my other club and wondering how the Z would cope with it.

After finding my plenum gasket was actually just silicone sealant, not to mention other really naff and totally unproffesional short cuts,( basically no gaskets/rubbers had been renewed when engine work was undertaken so have been gradually rectifying all this) i thought i`d delve deeper as i`ve been hearing a blow from drivers side area for a while. So after a lot of cursing and help from a mate finally managed to get this blooming turbo pipe off as i could see there seemed to be a lack of gasket..what a suprise..silicone sealant..again! After reading the flash code from my ECU, it stated code 34, which is Det sensor, i then tested the O2 sensors using the ECU, the right one was fine, but the left one was reading lean (with ocasional blips to rich if the revs were blipped). my logic tells me that, if the left o2 sensor is saying lean (due to it being f**ked) then the ECU would put more fuel into the left bank, (hence my majorly over fueling) which would then possibly cause pre ignition (detenation) which would then come up with fault code 34. Does this sound possible? has anyone have any sources for any o2 sensors, its a manual twin turbo import. my local nissan place told me £117 + VAT, and the…

Decided to have a look at the rust on my rear drivers side arch and when cleaned up the area around the spots of rust i decided to see how far the filler from a previous repair had gone - it looks like the whole panel has had a light layer of filler with some thicker bits where it has perhaps been dented causing the rust in the first place. What would you do if you had discovered this (see pics) on your zed? Whats the recommended repair procedure? The car will be resprayed within the next few months anyway. Its got me wondering where else there's filler on the car! Look forward to your opinions. Cheers, James

hi all just fitted new hi flow rad on the zed, now heres my question the original clip (on left of rad) that the bottom hose clips into does not fit the bigger core rad so as i'm using silicone hoses not a hard pipe kit i'm left with the bottom hose blowing in the wind what is the best way to secure it?

Just had the MOT, a crowd of people surrounded the car asking what was it. Young apprentice kids hay lol. MOT tester could not believe the condition and had to ask me twice on how old it was. Any way passed with flying colours................I knew it would but i still get worried every time i go for one. Tax next, roll on. Happy days, shame its raining when i drove it there, spent four hours cleaning it the other day.:cursing:

I used to detest mudflaps of all sorts, but I found some lurking at the back of the garage, so thought I'd put them up against my Z... and really raher like them! Hi, im not trying to get info on breaking into a zed i assure you, but im a bit paranoid that its going to get broken into or nicked for a joy ride or something. Are they secure atall? Do they have an immobiliser? What is the nissan anti theft system? On previous cars ive had a detachable steering wheel, but this has got the functions on it i dont want to lose. Mark

Hi there all, have a 1995 TT 2+2 300zx, sitting at home, the starter motor relay behind front wheel arch has been replaced because car would not start (no crank or anything) however did not make a difference. Hooked up between pos and neg terminals of relay plug so that it starts, however because the old alternator was overcharging massively (replaced now and charging fine) there are a few problems. Have no power steering, auto box has entered a limp home mode perhaps (when moving off in drive from a standstill, attempts to drive off in 3rd gear). If auto box is put into 1st, then 2nd, then drive when you move off car still has full power. Additionally HICAS light is on o…

Hi, me again!! o/ Jeff says I need to replace my HICAS ball joints as there's quite a bit of play in the rear wheels. Are the Skyline ones the same and/or are the ones off eBay ok to use? Once I change them, will I need to have the alignment done? Thanks again!! ;)

Hi as the yellow plastic bit that joins the door lock barrel to the locking rod is always breaking has anyone ever found a raplacement from any other nissan model that could be picked up at a breakers ?? thks Kurt

Does anybody know the difference between Nissan Motorsports Japan (NISMO)and Nissan Motorsports USA (apart from the obvious geographical difference) From what I can gather Nissan Motorsports USA was the old Nissan Competition Department which is not part of Nismo (Nissan Motorsports Japan). Are they just seperate departments of Nissan???
