I dont see any activity on the Nurburgring thread in events. Anybody up for it? I'm going back to SPA on Sept 27th. Open invite to who ever wants to come, I have an extra bedroom, and the drive is approx one hour due to stupid belgian low speed limits. Sunday, the NATO base here in Germany is letting the local enthusiast's club play out on the runway. I'm pretty psyched for it, will be my first experience with the local club which is a mix of anyone with a sportscar. I'm up for a 'ring trip whenever, just need a week's notice or so to make sure I am not going to be flying or out of town. I know a few of you brits are located in Deutschland like myself. …

Can anyone recommend me a brand of Aftermarket Gauges that ; a) offer Speedometer (100mm+), Tachometer (100mm+), Pressure (52/60mm) and fuel level (52/60mm) gauge! b) do not look cheap, tacky or garish. I have been searching on and off for months and about to give up. Pretty much most aftermarket gauges look cheap and tacky. They are clearly built to a very low budget. Im looking for gauges that would look at home as OEM fitment in a High-end car. Im very fussy and Im looking fine detailing and quality. One of the few exceptions is the Defi BF series, but unfortuantly their Tachometer is only available in 60mm (too small) and no fuel level g…

Currently after a set of standard 16" alloys to replace my 17's:detective: Got me thinking though, are there any rims/tyres readily available with more than 225 section width (with a comparable profile - i'm after comfort more than anything)? I had a look for tyres, but all the online major stores didn't go any wider than 225.. Currently running 235's all round, so not too much of a drop, but ideally want 245+ Any wheely techy types know the answer:confused1:

Got a block tester today and it seems my overheating issue is a head gasket problem. Tested it twice and both times it turned from blue to green showing that it is the problem. Brand new engine from the US built by one of the best guys in the business, and this happens. God I cant tell you how low and pissed off I am at the moment, after all the money time and effort that has gone in to this car. I honestly feel like burning the bloody thing! :headvswal

Just a curiosity with what is most likely the cause here - dodgy PTU/Starter/Flywheel/cabling? My 300 always, but always takes two times to start. Wind it up once, let it wind down then try again and it starts. It's never gotten worse or better but it's frustrating!

  7. I found my water leak. It seems that the water comes from the water channel from the roof. But it seems that the water comes through the outside or around the pipe (that connects to the plastic hose by the A pillar that continues downwards).

  8. Right all the debate about dump valves and performance got me thinking (yes, be worried!). I've had them installed for nigh-on 6 years. the last time I drove a Z in anger with stock recircs was mine, when it was a poorly white automatic, 6 years ago. this is my understanding of how a DV'd system works: a) floor it b) boost builds up - boost gauge shows max (whatever that may be - say 1 bar for now) c) enjoy the rush d) foot off - TISH - boost gauge starts to quickly drop to vacuum as the compressed air leaves the system e) engage next gear while the above is happening f) back on the gas - boost builds back up, and we're back to b) again. now if you h…

  10. The day after I did the spraying of the scuttles as per a previous thread, I drove to work 5.5 miles and parked up safely at 8am. At about 10.30am I walked past the car and thought what a good job I did the day before. :cool3: At 12.30pm I got in the car and saw this bloody crack, aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh :crying:   Where the hell did that come from?? :confused1: :confused1: Linked to the job I did the day before?? All the panels went back as sweet as a nut with no stress on the windscreen at all. Can Autoglass make it disappear?? Have looked at my policy and it's £50.00 xs with no affect on the ncb, so will have to go down that roa…

Slick Pete will be starting on my new car in about two or three weeks. He's going to strip out most of the mechanicals in the slicktop and get the bodywork right up to scratch along with a few other jobs :) The engine and electronics from the red car will be put into the slicktop by Dan when Pete has done his stuff. There are going to be a fair few new parts so there will be lots of good stuff up for grabs at very reasonable prices. Pete will be sorting out what's to be had from the slicktop and there will be some stuff from the red one and of course the rolling shell will be looking for a new owner. Not much in the way of details just yet but will be posting…

when my car is warm the idle is a little odd, it sits at a proper 1000rpm then drop down to 500rpm for a second then pop back up then not do it for 20 seconds or so then do it again. this has only started happening since i fitted a new oil cooler and bunged up a few leaks in the exhaust. any ideas what this is ive had a quick search and im thinking maybe its a bad connection to the idle control valve?

  14. Hi, Has anyone adapted a party smoke/fog machine to be used for detecting vacuum leaks on a zed? It can be physically done, but I don't know if the 'smoke' used might lead to some undesirable residues (being water-based!). Smoke is supposed to be the dogs danglies of leak detection, and the normal (pressurising the intake) method is not showing up any leaks for me -I'm sure I can hear at least one when the car is idling! And both my boost gauge, and poor warm-up/idling point that way too.............

  15. Hi all, just a bit of advice needed, '91 TT manual, 124k miles, smokin' turbos... A) Do I replace them with something new? If so original Nissan items or is there anything aftermarket that will go on without too much modification? B) Rebuild them with new seals/gaskets etc and if so I guess they'll have to be rebalanced? Any idea of prices or places to go near Bristol or South West area? Cheers all!

Hi all, Got this prob with my aircon. Hard to describe so i made a video of it so you can hear the sound thats bugging me. It's a kind of squeal noise that cycles. Only happens with the aircon switched on, and the sound is coming from the glovebox area. I had it re-gassed last summer, and the sound was already there but not so much. Re-gassing didn't stop the squeal. Already the aircon is not very cold... You can hear the noise start at around 14seconds into this first video. totally not sure where to look on this one? :( thanks guys

After nearly cooking my engine I now have some questions regarding how the engine actually works. 1) Are the turbos in any way cooled by water? I was v. surprised to read this and wasn't sure if it was fact or fiction.. 2) Are the SMICs air-to-air or air-to-water? Assumed they were air-to-air but wasn't sure.. Cheers

  24. Started by Janus,

Side lights work, full beams work, dipped headlights do not. Bugger! changed fuses, bulbs are clearly not blown - my boyfriend has looked at the wiring and has found some electricians tape on some wires relating to the lights, so suspect some sort of botched repair by previous owner. Can I just check, when you depress the brake pedal, is it normal for a red light on the dash saying "lights" to come on? Or is this part of the above issue possibly? Hoping someone at the meet up on Sunday will have a bit more knowledge of a Z than us will be able to point us in the right direction. In the meantime, no night time driving for me!!

  25. My boyfriend saw you on Marton Road today
