I decided to check my ignition timing today and found it to be about 27 degrees before top dead centre.:sweatdrop: Slackened off the 3 bolts securing the crank angle sensor and rotated it clockwise until I achieved 15 btc. My only worry is that I had to use all of the adjustment to get it. The strobe I am using is a pickup type that I connect top the + and - respectively and the pickup to the looped wire at the power transistor unit. I seem to remember reading that this method may give a false reading of up to 10 degrees error. Could anyone advise please?

How much water should I expect from the exhaust? I have a turbo UK model and after a couple of minutes working under the bonnet(while at tick over) I can hear her gurgling quite loudly and when I rev her up she splutters and pops and almost stalls,:helpsmilie: while at the same time spits what looks like a good pint or more from each side over the garage floor. Surely this is excessive?

Hi all, Sorry i've not posted in a while! As the title suggests, I had a bit of a spin a couple of weeks ago due to a pillock pulling out on me and getting stuck halfway across the road. Luckilly the only battering was from the untouched central wall of snow as I went over it sideways. However ever since it's been blowing and as I hit the 3500rpm range it really does make a racket, sort of a rattly higher pitched noise... Anyway I took it to a friend who got it up on a lift for a quick inspection. We couldnt find anything that was loose the only thing that was bound to be making the noise was what I think is the exhaust recirculation pipes? Perhaps? …

Well nice to see this place is still ticking along nicely. I havent had my zed for many years now however the old man does still have one. He has decided he is pulling the engine to do the head gasket and has asked what else should be done ideally while its out. Things that are easier done while its out and then you can rest in the knowledge that its done. If someone could give us a list of stuff then I can just pass it onto him and he can decide what to do. Also he needs a new knock sensor as he has broken the connector on his if anyone has one. Ta Glyn

After all my hard work of plenum off, water bypass, polish, chrome, fuse box and powersteering pot moved ect ect, It was time to put her back together and fire the baby up. BUT... after forgetting to tighten the water pump pulley and the belt flying off and a fuel leak with a split hose she fired up 2nd time!!!! whooooooo took her for a quick drive and there was water pissing everywhere:no: I think it was more than just 1 pipe on the bypass which needed re-routing!! It seems to be coming from 1 small metal pipe behind the engine? but I am sooo happy I`m nearly there, so a few more questions to ask in another thread and I`m back on the road in my vert again,…
