The belt appears to be squealing on my 300zx NA It does it when you first start the car, through first and into second then clears higher up the rev range. These symptoms I've come across on other cars but the belt also squeals when you go back into second or first, even after a long run. I've noticed the power steering sometimes goes heavy too at low revs manouvering but dont know if this is necessarily at the same time. Is this likely to just need a new belt or has anyone else had similar issues?

Just watched the first episode of the new series. Yep, very good so far :cool2: It's got a different swing to it than the original 70's series with Jack Lord. This time around it's not the Hawaiian police department, but a special task force, headed up by Steve McGarrett. So nice to see that all the old stuff is still there, the tile music is the same, some of the title sequence's are the same, even their office building is the same as the old one. The team is made up of the same characters, and there is even a 1968 black Ford Mercury (only fleetingly for this first episode anyway) Great stuff, I'll be watching the rest now :D

You cannot fail to be impressed by the sheer enthusiasm of zed owners, a case in point this week, the brief was to replace the coil over shocks and springs with some new non coil over shocks and springs all supplied by the owner, ok pretty straight forward , but what a nice surprise to find he had supplied everything by that I mean everything, every nut, washer, bush, suspension top mount, body gaskets, etc. Made for a nice build up, some of the parts were required as his coilovers lacked the standard top mounts but even the new bolts and washers made it a nice job. The US version of the zed has some funky looking differences to our UK and Import models and I have to say there is something so much nicer about their swb space saver wheel, I have shown pictures before of the rather large seat belts too but could not help taking a couple of more pics today with the belt extended fully....classic and this particular nice zed will be at the Bash on Saturday so you can see it in the flesh as it were. I have had a look now on a few car forums and found that if you keep the cats on you keep a good amount of torque but if you remove them you lose torque and gain HP Everyone knows that the more torque the quicker your car will accelerate. Hp is top end So why do we fit decats or have i totally got this wrong. I am tempted in putting mine back on if this is the case and hopfully tone the noise down a little. Please disscuss :lol:

is there any way to tell if the MAF is dodgy, or giving bad readings? i have done an ECU check, but no MAF sensor problem, and had it on a conzult. but again read ok, (stationary test) car runs fine, idles a bit high, but is using lots of fuel and seems to be getting worse. was getting 180-200miles to a tank, now its closer to the 160-180 mark.

Today i learnt something new about the 300zx when trying to insure my new import. UK spec 300zx is insurance group 41 Jap spec 300zx is insurance group 46 Now, it might just be me, but i really cant see why? Why should there be 5 groups difference just because its from another country! Its exactly the same car!! I argued this for about an hour with Adrian flux when they told me the underwriters wouldn't touch me because it was a 'fairlady' import! So i got my quote online instead. it did mean canceling my policy (and losing 6 months no claims) and taking out a new policy, but i saved myself £500 on what they were quoting me on a fully comp policy so it worked out…

Cut a long story short to start. i bumped into a guy last week at a local tyre specialist, after seeing his car. Never seen one before. a Minataur kit car, basically rear engined V8, full race car made for the road, fantastic sound and looks. Really nice bloke, has been building it for last 4 years and has spent ober £50k. HAd its MOT last week and passed no probs. Today i drove past him and his wife, as i was on route to our office. went in the office, 5 minutes later he was bashing the door down, shouting get the brigade. Not an actual before of the car, but the same with different wheels and colour. then as it was, on fire. Tur…

When I bought my zed the clutch was slipping under acceleration...ok when just taking it easy. I ran it for a short time and then parked it up until I could get the clutch done (thought maybe need replacing). That was a good few months ago its been parked up and now when recently I went to move it pressed in the pedal and it went straight to the floor. Anybody any ideas to what has caused this also how to know now if it really DOES need a new clutch. Thanks in advance.

As most of us know the original Nissan rear spoiler suffers from water ingress and subsequently the paint surface becomes damaged and the spoiler shape changes to a wobbly top and later breaks away at the low part were it meets the tailgate above the lights. Quite why it does this is to many a mystery so we have cut off the end of a damaged spoiler to show why the spoiler is badly effected by water ingress, basically the spoiler was formed around a metal skeleton that over a period of time rusts away, slowly collapsing and distorting, this is why there is no point in repainting a spoiler that has started to deteriorate as the nastiness inside is still there and will…

Heater optional vent I mentioned some time ago about an optional knee vent that was fitted to later zeds that can be retrofitted real easily. Had the opportunity to get some pics form an M reg and as you can see the vent is fitted in to the drivers side knee pad where you will have a knock out blank plate, the heater duct underneath has the corresponding cut out are and with the addition of a little foam the seal is made when the knee pad is refitted, the vent has direction fins to direct the area to your legs or to your other area that maybe cold!! will add the part number for the vent tomorrow, from memory they are around £15 from Nissan. Had this problem for years now and wanna get to the bottom of it! My Zed runs perfectly during normal driving and anything other than Foot in the carpet full boost which is 1.1 bar... During full throttle it pulls really well, no hesitation and no det.. Just a plume of Black smoke out the back! If driving at 3 quarters throttle around 11psi boost, there is no smoke... I know i have a dead passenger O2 sensor but apparently this won't effect full throttle driving as they go into closed loop. Also fuel ecconomy is good during normal driving!! The Fuel pressure regulator is ok, obviously on full boost it would not need to regulate anything i guess! I have…
