Took zed to tyre exaust garage today they were going to put my japspeed de cat down pipes on ,up on the ramps they noticed a snapped stud they said they couldn't do it as they would have to drill it out,the guy from the garage behind said he could do it for £200 sounds like alot of money, what would be a reasonable amount to pay?

as above? ive just swapped the OSF calliper for a reman one as it was badly seized and made such a bad juddering under heavy braking. the NSF was pretty sticky too but not as bad as the other, but the calliper i was sent had had the mount holes fettled with to the wrong thread! as the numbers in the castings were the same i can only guess they drilled it out for some reason. but anyway, my brakes were very very poor, and they overheated after just a couple of hard applications, im not using decent pads though, what are my options without spending huge amounts of cash though?

Just out of interest where do you lot go for repairs like cambelts, servicing etc? reason i ask is because me and brother have a small garage in the rhondda and we have recently done a fair bit of work on my car with no problems and if there was enough interest maybe we could sort some sort of club discount out for fellow zeders? let me know your thoughts as i know zed world are the boys but there not exactly 5 mins from us unfortantlly!

I have managed to pick up a pair of leather seats for my Z with electric drivers side, but my car being a 95 model has manual seats. There is some wiring under the seats, but I presume this is just seatbelt sensors and doesn't have a live feed, or if it did wouldn't be man enough to supply juice to the seat motor ? Were would be the best point to take off a supply for them (I presume I only need a fused +ve feed and can earth on the seat rail mounting bolt) ?

right how to explain this one jimmer suggested lower steering knuckle seized as car been stood for the winter so not totally ruling that out just yet but after other ideas/input so when the car is staionary i can turn the steering lock to lock with no issues or tight spots all the problems i am getting is when the car is moving, when turning a corner the steering does not come back to centre i have to manually do that, now heres the strange bit steering feels tight/heavy sometimes when steering left, sometimes when right never both at the same time and the speedo reads correctly, also getting a feeling off oversteer on sharper corners it like i steer in and have to put a …

how would this compare to ARC uprated side mounts? I do prefer the look of a nice big front mount intercooler, this is the one I mean - I have ARCs at the mo and I know they are supposed to be one of the best, would the above FMIC be similar in performance? sounds ok: thankZ for any input

...in the Slicktop :) Last time was 2 years ago, for a very brief test drive, and its not been properly on the road in about 5 years, since before I puchased it as rolling shell. I did have all sorts of concerns about wether I had tightned every bolt up since I basically stripped it back to nothing and fully rebuilt it....nothing fell off though LOL but....wow :D I Loved it! Its sooo responsive ! It feels so alive compared to a stock Z - Its about 250kg lighter, with Lightweight pulleys, lightweight flywheel, one piece prop, 4.08 Rear Diff......and it all really does make a big difference ! More than I expected. :devil2: I've left it on 7psi, bec…

Right been meaning to post about this for about 5 days now, but since the hot weather kicked in, ive had a strange fuel smell in the cabin when ever the car has sat at idle for a while, when moving it slowly clears. Now when it happens, if i pull up and open the bonnet there is no smell from the engine bay, just in the cabin, and if i stick the A/C on, god its like im sniffing the pump at a petrol station the smell is that bad. In fact its kind of worrying due to having the kids in the car as well, ive checked all pipe work under the hood and cant for the life of me work out where the smell is coming from. this happens once the engine is warm. so in shor…

with a standard clutch? when my Z has its engine swap soon it'll be about 350bhp, I've been offered a lightweight flywheel at a reasonable price but probably can't afford a brand new paddle clutch until a few months after the transplant. Would this be ok, and would I see the benefits from a lightweight flywheel? p.s. I'm not fussed about taking the gearbox back out later in the year to upgrade the clutch. :red_indian:

This is baffling me (especially with my limited knowledge of mechanics). At all different speeds I am getting quite a severe shudder through the steering wheel. The lowest speed I have experienced it is 29mph and the highest at around 80mph. To give you some background I have already replaced the following with poly bushes... Tension Rod Bushes Steering Rack Bushes (which was fun!) Anti-Roll Bar Bushes I am also running brand new alloys with brand new Falken's all fully balanced. I also think that the tracking is OK as my previous set of tyres had very even wear. Disks and pads look fine and all other bushes (as far as I can tell) look fine. I can not…

I think it,s quite common for the covering to peel off the inside of the targas and mine were terrible so i thought i,d re cover them. I removed the end caps and handle surround , the covering just about fell off !! i used a wire brush in as drill which removed the remains of the foam and glue as well , cut a bit of trimming vinyl to size , sprayed both with contact adhesive and once touch dry put the covering on , trimmed it up , glued the end caps back on and jobs a good un , looks as good as new .

I bought a new trim and took a deep breath and started cutting it about, after doing a trial on an old broken trim to see if it would work ! http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=148783 Found another light which was longer than the one i did the trial with so it would fit better , removed the outer shell and trimmed it down to size . Cut out most of the original one and carefully removed the red lens inside A bit of trimming and in it went Looks alot more modern when lit and when it,s not it,s now clear instead of having the red lens showing through :hyper:

just got the car back from an autoelectriction friend theyr was two blown relays behind the fuse box in the cabin...all is weel again got window wipers jets and digital temp is working again...the other problem i was having with the temp gauge shooting up then back to normal has dissapeared aswell.. good news is the fuse box and relays are bonedry and no corrosion..happy days..could the faulty relays be the cause of the temp reading being faulty..im gonna change the thermostat anyway to a nismo one just to be on the safe side
