My mate has got the clutch out today, and said the clutch plate is worn but not too bad that it should slip, will be putting a new one in anyway but any other suggestions why its slipping, he did say the fly wheel needs skiming but clutch was fine when i drove in back from scotland. just started slipping after getting stuck in reverse one day. cheers mark

well found out where the smoke was coming from, id wired up the wingmirrors last week after someone who owned it before me had basically just cut the wire. only to find today once id taken the center console apart again that the cables had fused together. now not sure whats going on here, but it definitely wasn't my wiring, as the wires for the cables were exactly the same when wired together. so it was like for like colour. Been toying with the idea of putting the twin turbo engine in my long suffering gt40 replica??? It should be fitted with a ford 5.8l v8 (sat in shed). The car would weigh 1050kg with the v8 but i`m expecting it could weigh 1000kg with v6, with a good strong build i would be hoping for 500hp/tonne?? Would you give the thumbs up or down for this install???

Was wondering if it was a good idea to install a second battery into my Zed due to running 2 amps, and a carputer, plus all the other parts that are on zeds. id imagine its not doing my alternator any good trying to recharge the battery when everything is being ran. Was thinking of taking the live feed for the amps and pluming the second battery into the AMP fuse box in the boot, and then earthing the battery on the same point as my AMPs do, using 12gauge copper wire. only thing is, the ideal place to put a battery is taken up by a 10" subwoofer. Anyone know if id run into issues doing this? Or any good 12v small batterys? i have a spare battery for a ze…

can anyone tell me is it best to drive with the overdrive switched off around town or is it easier to leave it permanantly switched on

i've been toying with the idea of playing with some of this EL stuff (electroluminescent) and im thinking what i could do with it, i want to make a backing for my radio blanking plate (stainless with fairlady laser cut into it) and im thinking of lighting the "300zx" in rear light cluster up. now im thinking what else i could do, i was thinking if i could replace the rear number plate bulbs with a el strip to make it look nice and uniform, and one of the others is to buy this paint it back like OEM and light the Z up? and opinions? ideas on this? my cars getting paint either gold or purple so a dont want any chrome on it. all would be light up blue …

Well got my japspec clocks back off jim, so decided to refit my EL dials and rings onto my UK spec clocks. what a pain in the arse, and im not sure if ive fooked my needles up till the engine is running. Also installed my new momentary switch into the cabin for the extended power switch leads i soldered on to my PC motherboard, going to get another one for the amp on switch that can be seen above it. its a chromed push switch that illuminates with a blue LED, there are some the same on ebay for a shocking £10, but got mine for just £4 posted. wanted a green one for the amps, but cant justify paying £10 for it, so might just get another. i pretty much fully drained teh system when i refurbed the pump and replaced the high pressure lines etc. when i fired it up tonight i filled up the pot and wound it lock to lock and lots of air came out, tyhe pot was rising on full lock and the fluid went fizzy to start with. it has got lightyer but its still VERY heavy. any one got any further suggestions to this, it worked fine before. the erason i took it apart was beacause of a leak.

Hi, Bought the car, and shortley after the clutch started to slip, so toyed with the idea of selling it, but can not bring myself to do it, so dropped it off at a mates and he is going to get the box out, and change the clutch. Then onto the rear arches and sills lol its never ending, lets see if I can keep another uk car on the road lol. cheers Mark

anyone done this, and is it worth doing, done a search but not much came up about folks doing it, and it being worthwhile... want to change mine as well as gearbox oil, as its not been done in 20 yrs... but is it worth it?

just removed my speedo to send to groover for a led conversion :thumbup: so i fitted the one from my dead zed, but the speedo reads completely wrong now, i noticed they have different converters fitted (both are jap spec) it now reads in kph i thijnk either that or i was just doing 100 down the motorway and spo was the police car in front...lol... but starts at 10kph, so standstill = 10kph???? wtf? then reads far too high???

does any one know were i can get detailed pictures on engine dissasembly , as my tt has serious back pressure when u remove dipstick it looks like a steam train chuffing and burning oil smell from exhuast and dipstick tube.http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/images/smilies/modern/taz.gif

Right just got my engine sorted but have been told to prime the turbo's oil feed before doing anything else. What's the best way to do this? I don't want to blow the tubs up :)
