Hi all, I'm new to the forums but have recently bought an '88 na Z31. It came without any history but was a car I'd been after for a while so I've been working (and spending) hard to get the oil, filters and timing belt done. My most urgent problem now is that the center silencer is blowing so bad that the exhaust sounds straight through. I know people like their shiny stainless exhausts but I really want to stay standard. The rest of the system looks ok. So my question is...does anyone have a center silencer going or know where I can get hold of one? Research tells me Mike from MJP might be worth asking. Cheers

  3. Evening all. I picked up the majority of the parts needed for a manual conversion this weekend and now i’m after a bit of advice. First of all, which parts should be replaced with new components. I’ve made the following list but could do with knowing if i missed something… Pilot Bushing OEM Manual Transmission Front & Rear Seal Clutch Slave Cylinder Upper & Lower Rubber Dust Boot On top of this, I’m also considering the following upgrades so if anyone has any comments that would be grand. Uprated (350Z) clutch fork (with chromoly pivot ball) Z1 oil impregnated bronze shifter bushings Z Speed solid shifter with boot kit …

Hi All Car was running OK apart from a intermittent starter motor problem (Would not crank just clicked and all the lights went out) Starter now sorted so I thought I would give it a service, so have just changed the Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Fuel Filter. While changing the air filter found that the Y shaped rubber hose that goes from the MAF to the two round Steel Intakes was cracked right through 3/4's of the way round where the Jubilee clip fastens it to the LH Steel Intake which was presumably letting Air in after the MAF. As a temporary measure I borrowed the rubber Y hose from the other car and continued with the service, when all complete attempte…

Hi All, I've decided I want to start documenting more of the journey with my 300zx, I've called it the No-name 300zx project, because I've never given the car a name other than 'The Nissan'. First of all, a little history: 2013 I've owned the car since mid 2013, the only mods were different wheels and a Nistune ECU and map My first bonding experience with the car was when the starter motor decided to detach itself from the gearbox a couple of days in to ownership. A small job of drilling and tapping the stripped hole from m10 to m12, and a replacement bolt solved that easily. The slippery modification slope began a few months in to ownership. Me…

  8. Hi all, I've had the engine back out of the car recently due to a stuck wastegate pivot on the RH Turbo. Problem fixed and both wastegates were balanced to 7.5psi when refitted. Before the engine pull, It would hold 19psi of boost (as tuned) this is with a manual boost controller, which I know was controlling the boost, because on a very cold day boost would reach over 20psi, and I would have to turn the boost down a fraction. After freeing up both wastegates, I seem to not be able to reach more than 17psi, even testing with the wastegate lines unplugged. I've performed a number of boost leak tests, I had found a couple of tiny leaks, fixed where possi…

  10. Hello all. I'am planing to change my engine and at same time a tranny con. What is the best way to do it? If possible i will change both at once. It means the tranny should be mounted to the engine. Is it space and clearance enough on the Z? Thx a lot.

I found this how-to http://www.ttzd.com/tech/fuelfiltertech.html ConZult has a fuel pressure release button - if I use that, do I need to do the remove fuse / crank engine to release fuel pressure as in the how-to, or will using the ConZult fuel pressure release be enough? Thanks.

Hi Guys I am trying to fit aftermarket steering wheels to 2 Z's one I have completed and the other I am struggling with. Both are are fitted with OE Airbag Steering wheels but the wiring and the Airbag are totally different I have used the search on here but can not find any details so apologies if all this has been covered before. The following Photo's are from the 1994 car with no hicas and drivers only Airbag After much testing & faffing about these are the connections that need to be made for the Airbag Light to extinguish (Red wire Loop) and the connection for the Horn button (Green Wire) The Following Photo's are from the 1992 Convertible w…

Got these a year back, will they fit as last time I asked garage to change them they said the fitting was not possible. As I am changing my front discs & new pads I thought it a good idea to change these too?

Ok all, Having bought a pair of 350Z Brembo front brake calipers from Mondo a while back, it seems I f**ked up when fitting them & threaded one of the calipers when fitting the new HEL brake lines. Mike Sandford @ Outlaw Customs has tried tapping them but with little success leaving only a couple of threads to grip on. So looking for recommendations for who can sort this problem out?....... Anyone?... Please? Help me....

  17. Started by bird,

Anyone know what these are for? The black ones seem to be in with the heating ducts wires, or nearby anyway, but can't see anywhere they'd plug into. The white one, is the right one I have hold of. Finally, there's a clutch switch. But there's no connector on my loom. I'm guessing this was due to it being a manual conversion in years gone by and that I don't need to care?

  18. Started by bird,

Apart from the below photo, I'm wondering if anyone has a photo of all the heating pipework that sits behind the dash. And if possible, a list of the codes on them so I can see if I have it all

I might need new injectors. When I had a different idle issue in 2010, I got a set of 6 Deatschwerks remanufactured from ConceptZ at $365 for 6 $61 each. These are still available at $529 / $88. SO I had a look round and there are others down to around $62 for AUD remanufactured. Then I looked on Ebay and found https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6x-NISSAN-300ZX-FAIRLADY-INFINITY-J30-MAXIMA-SENTRA-26lb-270cc-FUEL-INJECTORS/222825765310?fits=Plat_Gen%3AZ32&hash=item33e17359be:g:40IAAOSwOn1aeGPN which claim to be new JECS for £89 for all 6! If something looks cheap, it often is - has anyone had any experience with these? Cheers

Managed to lose a set of keys, I think by locking them in the boot. Any ways to get a z32 open? Really struggling! Car is locked and think I may rather stupidly have left spares in the car. :( Thanks in advance!

Hi folks, My Mongoose exhaust is beginning to look a little (well) untidy - so after having the Zed resprayed I was thinking of getting a new one. I can't seem to find Mongoose or Scorpion still listing the Z32 fitment though. I see Luke has a cat-back system, but don't really like the "rolled-out" appearance of the tail pipes. That just doesn't suit the Zed IMO. I have found this on Ebay though - looks like the old Japspeed system, just more expensive  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Catback-Exhaust-System-For-90-95-Nissan-300ZX-Z32-2-2-Seater/283403257363?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D7c715805e2f8407db6…

Just got back from seeing Keith & my newly painted slicktop. What a transformation! The paint work previously was pretty bad but solid so I really didn't expect it to look as good as it does but hes done an amazing job. Can't wait to pick it up next weekend.
