Right dont bother lying about it because it wont wash with me.You all have had cars you want to keep quiet but the truth must come out sometime. I just come across an old photo of my Mk 4 Cortina 1.6.Mods included black paintwork, white 8 spoke wheels, raised rear suspension, mirror film windows, red lights in the grille and 2 static strips hanging from the rear bumper oh yes and do you remember those big plastic louvers that went right over the back window? well it had one of those as well.. Beat that if you can.. Paul

I've decided to put on driving lamps as per Nico's ride pic. Whats the best place to gain access to the cabin for the wiring ? I'll shut up now ... Glenn

Following Tooley's invite for more on this subject????????? ........... here goes... I have fitted brighter bulbs, but although much better the dipped lights are still not bright enough. Looking at the Relays under the bonnet, there is one marked 'H/Lamp Dim', and guess what, if you look at Bob's CD-ROM there are a host of 'Dim Dip' circuits with a unit somewhere just behind one of the front wheels. Is this the source of our main problem (I remember a number of UK cars in the late 80's were built to a MoTransport dimmer dip regulation, later revoked by the EU, I think)? Or is this nothing more than stopping an overload when using the headlight flash, or so…

As I've decided to browse the forum more than once a day, it would be nice if there was some interesting topics to comment on!! So, who's first? Steve

I have just replaced my standard dipped bulbs for the 30% brighter version as recommended in an earlier post. Doesn't seem to have made a great difference, but was fun putting them in ... Anyways, may now install some driving lights. The only place I can see to fit them is in the gap on the front skirt, although I was wondering about using the dummy light shells on the side (mines a UK model TT). either that or swapping the indicator/side lights for driving and having them where the dummy lenses are (as on the Jap imports) not sure on the legality of this. Any thoughts guys? Roll on the the summer .... Glenn.

My imported 300 aparently will be ready for me to collect any day now (I'll believe it when it happens!) Can anyone confirm these wheel/tyre sizes? 8"x17" 5 hole alloys with an offset of 32 a pcd of 114.3 fitted with 235/45-17 tyres front and 255/40 17 rear, as to save time I guess I could at least get the wheels sorted out ready for delivery of the car!!

Has anyone got any info about converting the ZX to dual fuel LPG, as I use mine every day and in London it is costing a fortune.

On the Jap spec there are driving lamps where the indicators are on UK cars. This has a dual filament bulb in it. Has anyone taken this off? I had a quick look last night but the screw on the front just changes direction. Has anyone got in there? How do you get the bulbs out to change them? Simon

Hi, I believe my left side headlight bulb has blown. If it is I might as well change the right side as well. Has anyone got any ides on cost and how much hassle it is as a DIY job. Thanks Another Dave ;-)

Quintin Wilson has been in the daily mirror slagging off Jap imports and not for the first time either..Apparently they are all stolen, crash damaged, unsafe and impossible to fix or buy parts for etc etc..He say's he has a woman freind (which sounds unlikely for a start!!) that has bought an imported Skyline and its basicly scrap because it needs a track rod end and they cant get one from the Uk or Japan??? maybee they havent heard of Middlehurst,Silvia,Torque developments etc etc. if he thinks the Skylines Scrap I will gladly place my bid of £50. Paul.

This is a nightmare! If I gently press the accelerator the engine misfires terribly upto about 2500rpm when either it clears or it's revving fast enough you can't notice it. When driving along below 2500 rpm it's a nightmare, missing all over the place! I have fitted new plugs and new PCV valves and pipes but it is still there, anyone got any ideas please?

I hear you guess talk about diagnostic beeps quite often, and I was wondering, as I don't have a handbook/manual for my Flady how you get them sounding, and what the various codes mean? John

Craig, Nico. Now that I've got one of those Ericsson R380's I really think you 2 ought to pull your finger out and do this on WAP. Surely you 2 haven't got anything better to do!!!!!! Zed banter might even make WAP useful! Simon (Inspector Gadget)

Which fuse in the fuse box covers the heated rear window?...mine has recently stopped working...and on looking inside the fuse box lid I found that all the writing is in Japanese! (It's an import) Any chance someone could have a look and describe it's position to me..thanks. JEZ300Z

I've got an imported TT and I replaced the speedo with a UK unit rather than having a conversion done. Because of this my cruise control only works up to 68mph, so it's fairly useless! I've found a guy in Australia who has designed a circuit board which you can fit inside the cruise unit. This will allow the cruise to work at higher speeds (I think around 98mph). I'm planning on ordering one of these soon. If anyone else wants a unit, let me know and I'll get them shipped over at the same time. The circuit board is $60AUS (about £21), or he will fit it for you if you send your cruise unit to him (in Australia) for $90AUS (including return postage).

Very good condition. Can't remember precise tank size but it's big enough to run air tools (which is what I used it for when I was karting) or for spraying. Tank is about 3 or 4 foot long. Uprated the pressure to around 110 psi (again, from memory) but adjustable. Includes a decent length air line, tyre inflator & gauge, air ratchet, pressured water line (connects to hosepipe and then boosts up to 110 psi!). If you have the space, these things are VERY handy - no more going to the garage for air and you can pretend you're an F1 team and race you mates at wheel changes ! Cost me £300-£400. Best offer over £120. Buyer collects though - I'm not post…

Hi Peeps, In serious UK heavy rain, have had drips of water leaking onto my right foot. This is bloody annoying as you can guess. Upon further analysis I think its coming out of foot air con vents. I have seen other posts regarding air-con causing probs but I do not have any unecessary misting of wind screen etc. I have not used my air-con or de-mist option for a month or so. Could the car be sucking in rain from the external air intake? Any ideas ?? I may go nuts on the A12 if I cannot sort this. Thanks in advance Another Dave ;-)

I've recently purchased a 92 UK TT. Totally pleased apart from the dipped headlight output which seems totally inadequate. I'ts just had a MOT, so I assume the headlights are correctly adjusted. Any suggestions? + anyone fitted driving lights to help?

Thought I'd got everything sorted to take delivery of my imported Z (what a performance) Now I've got a headache with insurance! I had comprehensive quote, or so I thought, at £650.P/A but now I'm told I cannot get insurance at all because it's a Japanese import - tried half a dozen companies this pm. - all the same - aghh!! I know there must be somebody out there willing to insure the car. Any ideas? Cheers Phil

For many months I've been looking forward to putting antera 143 18's (10" & 8") on my Z. Now a week away from the big day I find that they have been discontinued and the set I have ordered have been damaged badly in transit. Oh Bo***cks! Sooo...what would you recommend as alternatives in the sizes? (18x10 18x8/8.5)

I have just pulled the engine out of my car and have a couple of questions for the more technical/experienced members. Firstly, I was thinking of having the intake manifold polished, has any body had this done or been quoted for it, if so how much? Secondly, is it worth having the heads ported, flowed and polished or is it going to be a waste of time and money? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. top site!
