Which of the rear red lights should light up when the light switch is turned on...and which should come on when the brake is pressed? On my car only the outer lights seem to be lit, unless you touch the brakes...in which case they all light up. I was passed on the M40 earlier today by a UK spec car which had both lights lit at the rear,it set me wondering. JEZ300Z JEZ300Z

Hi All Just bought Shorty's Z and taken it to Scotland where I live and where Z's are rare. Been lurking on this site for months learning Z ery. Shorty's Z 's been half way to the moon 110k but is in great condition - even original turbos. I have a slight hop on NS rear over manholes and as the rear shocks have never been changed I strongly suspect they need to be. Any advice where to get them from greatfully accepted?

Bill, I've just bought my zx (UK 92 TT Manual) But the horn wasn't working took it back to East Sussex Motor Centre. the guys therte said they would have to get a auto sparky to check it out, and woul need to remove the nose cone to do the job! Whilst I was measuring up for driving lights tonite (sorry lights again...) I saw the horn just laying loose inside the spolier !!!! 10 minutes later after checking it worked against the battery, I fitted it back on, and hey presto it works fine ... How the hell it got through the MOT (just prior to me buying it) , and how this 'mechanic' didn't spot it is beyond me. They don't instill any confidence …

the stereo headunit! My antenna wire that connected into the original Bose headunit has a two pin type plug on the end with two wires running into it. The new headunit I have takes the normal one pin type plug. I've yet to find out where the second wire from the stock two pin plug goes so it's not as straight forward as cutting the plug off and fitting a single pin one. Any help?? Steve

Hi all, I'm new to this group. I have always liked the look of these cars and its about time I bought one. I know a fair bit about cars and mechanics, whats the weak points of a 300 ZX, whats the best model? engine etc. Does the bodywork have any particular weaknesses or prone to rust etc. Ive got up to £6k cash to spend. I'm just want some details from you guys before i buy...any basic info would be great. Cheers, Ian. ian50@btinternet.com

Hi, I've recently changed my original Z alloys with 17" Momo Arrows and new tyres. The tyres are 225.45.17 and 245.40.17 instead of the original tyres which were 225.50.16 and 245.45.16. Does anyone know what the tyre pressure should be for my new tyres/alloys ? Thanks in advance.

God Dam, Just about finished the Engine pull work, altho the dam engine is still in the car and the Tranny has 4 bolts left in the bell housing( and yes that includes the F*#cking top 2 :o(() had to knock off then to get back home in time. Everything else is sorted ,going back to finsih it off in a weeks time. The General Topic here is : GOD DAM what a shitty job "Proffesional" Mechanics do to your car these days. I am as most people are here somewhat paranoid about taking my car anywhere, so generally only take it too the most reputable places i can find. However looking at the tranny work that i recently had done i was APPAULED at the totall over all lack of …

Right dont bother lying about it because it wont wash with me.You all have had cars you want to keep quiet but the truth must come out sometime. I just come across an old photo of my Mk 4 Cortina 1.6.Mods included black paintwork, white 8 spoke wheels, raised rear suspension, mirror film windows, red lights in the grille and 2 static strips hanging from the rear bumper oh yes and do you remember those big plastic louvers that went right over the back window? well it had one of those as well.. Beat that if you can.. Paul

Following Tooley's invite for more on this subject????????? ........... here goes... I have fitted brighter bulbs, but although much better the dipped lights are still not bright enough. Looking at the Relays under the bonnet, there is one marked 'H/Lamp Dim', and guess what, if you look at Bob's CD-ROM there are a host of 'Dim Dip' circuits with a unit somewhere just behind one of the front wheels. Is this the source of our main problem (I remember a number of UK cars in the late 80's were built to a MoTransport dimmer dip regulation, later revoked by the EU, I think)? Or is this nothing more than stopping an overload when using the headlight flash, or so…

I have just replaced my standard dipped bulbs for the 30% brighter version as recommended in an earlier post. Doesn't seem to have made a great difference, but was fun putting them in ... Anyways, may now install some driving lights. The only place I can see to fit them is in the gap on the front skirt, although I was wondering about using the dummy light shells on the side (mines a UK model TT). either that or swapping the indicator/side lights for driving and having them where the dummy lenses are (as on the Jap imports) not sure on the legality of this. Any thoughts guys? Roll on the the summer .... Glenn.

My imported 300 aparently will be ready for me to collect any day now (I'll believe it when it happens!) Can anyone confirm these wheel/tyre sizes? 8"x17" 5 hole alloys with an offset of 32 a pcd of 114.3 fitted with 235/45-17 tyres front and 255/40 17 rear, as to save time I guess I could at least get the wheels sorted out ready for delivery of the car!!
