General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Need advice pelase. my Zed's started to play up 91TT(import 2+2). It misfires and chokes know and again. One day it will be fine and another it will play up. One of the exhaust smells of carbon but not the other. Any ideas?? Do you think its a spark plug or HT lead problem or something more sinister?

Does anybody know where I can get hold of replacement leather for my seats, or of anybody who can do it?

Approached my local Nissan dealer who confirms locking wheel nuts are not produced for this car. Is this right? Wheels are standard on a 93 plate. After enquiring at a alloys shop he suggested i approach Nissan dealer.

Guys, Has anyone had experience with the online CD manual that courtesy nissan are selling. Its only $49. (For anyone who doesn't know their site is www.courtesyparts.com and there based in the US and are a lot cheaper then UK Nissan) Thinking of getting it but would like to know your opinion if you have it already...any good??? Does anybody have a Limited Slip Differential fitted on their 300ZX? I have a manual TT (2-seater) and I certainly feel it needs a LSD. What makes are out there? I have seen a Cusco for our Z, but it is pricey. Appreciate any input. Thanks, Geoff

Hello is there anybody in or around the bedford area that can do my cam belt. Picked the car up 3 weeks ago looked at belt looks very dusty car is an import, done 42000 miles. ps what should I be expected to pay for the job.

Basically my car went in for the turbos to be exchanged/repaired and basically they are knackered. The exchange place was able to tell what mods I've done to my car by just looking at the turbos. The fact that I've upgraded the exhaust and intake filter creates a build up of carbon in the turbos (I think that's what he said). I also don't let the car idle for at least 30 seconds when I stop driving which doesn't exactly help. What I basically want to know is if anyone knows anything about turbo timers, what makes are there, and where do I get one from. This might be worth considering for every one as even Darren(seems like top mechanic) was suprised about my turbos cos on…

Just picked up my Z after having the clutch and exhaust sorted. The mongoose exhaust sounded great on the way home. It's not too loud, just loud enough to let other cars know you are there as you sail by them!. The RPS clutch is not as heavy as i thought it would be which is good. Trouble is I now have this erge to put my right foot down hard to the floor. How many miles do you guys think I should wear this in for before it's hammer time? P.S. I enjoyed the post on THE TRADERS VOICE, it was very amusing. Keep up the good work Craig and Nico, the forum is great!

Hi, I've got a problem with my 1990 300zx NA manual. If I'm in 4th or 5th gear at low revs (2000) and then I put my foot down to accelerate slightly the revs increase quickly upto the redline if I keep my foot down, but I don't get much faster. At first I thought I was wheel spinning but the roads were dry today and it's still happening. When I take my foot off the accelerator the revs drop back down and the car lurges forward a bit, in fact it feels like I'm driving an automatic. Does anyone know what this may be and how to fix it? Advice please On my 90tt I have developed a noisy cam follower that is intermitent maybe 30% of the time ! Anyone have (or had) similar if so is there an additive I can add to the oil to sort it ? if so which ? I do not want to put anything in unless its going to help as I really do not want to hide a problem if there is one there!! Thanks paulr

What is the point of an audible sound that your pads are low which only sounds at 100mph and cant be heard if ICE is booming. Can it be changed?

I'm looking to get the front of my car re-sprayed (everything forward of the windscreen, including side wings) due to numerous stone chips and some old lady running into one wing with a shopping trolley and leaving a load of nasty scrapes. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you could recommend any good body shops in or around London to do the work. I'm in North London but I don't mind travelling a bit. Cheers, Andy
