Hi everyone, Well I shall be getting me dosh back tomorrow and the DeadZed will be finding a new, unsuspecting owner no-doubt(poor sod). I've been taking what Trey and Jayen (sounds like a jamiriquai tribute band lol) suggested and had a look at a couple of import sitez. BestJapancar and gtrimports. Im going to call gtr imports re http://www.gtrimports.com/z300_p01.htm Is there anything I should be wary of viz the uprated ECU? I heard it has issues with our petrol>? Anyway if any of you experts want to cast an eye over her and let me know what you think... And thanks Jayen for the Email and sorry I didn't reply I was upto my arse in the current ShedDeadZed!…

I've noticed on this site and on another, plus from personel experience that there seems to be a common problem with ecu's, usually when someone has discovered their fuel pump relay has gone down, once replaced it seems the one wire that goes from ecu to relay has stopped sending a current to it, this has been confirmed by use of another ecu. So why is this, but more importantly can it be repaired easily ??? Some part of the circuit that sends this voltage to the relay must be blowing. I spoke to a couple of firms who repair ecu's and they estimate £150 to repair, but surely it can't be that difficult, does anyone else know of this, do you know someone who is shit hot wit…

Whilst browsing through a lurking copy of the Daily Mail's colour supplement I noticed a picture of Elton John, who is currently auctioning off 20 of his cars. Probably needs the room to store his hairpieces and glasses. He is sitting on a Jag, but right behind the FTO is the bonnet and lights of a burgundy, or possibly dull red ZX. Wonder if that's one of the ones he is auctioning. Mind you, can't see if it is or is not, but he'd never be able to take the roof off because his glasses woulfd cause too much wind resistance and his badly done, chronically expensive dome-wig would be left behind... Unpleasant thought.

There is the monthly meeting of the South Eastern Z Group tomorrow. It is at the Halfway House on the A127 at 12.00. This is a local branch on the UK Z Club. I'm sure all would be welcome. The Halfway house is a pub & does food. I think it's a BeefEater or Harvester??? No queue's like M.K./Brighton. Normaly a variaty of Z's From 240's, through to Z31's/Z32's. Only lasts 2/3 hours but is a good laugh. Also ZEXTRA (local breaker is just around the corner). Jan..

Now I've got the money to have my Z resprayed I was wondering if it's worth hving the Cambelt changed while the engines out for respray. looking through the service history it looks like it was changed at 26000 miles, now I've got 108000 on the clock, so I'm thinking its ready for a change. Are there any other jobs that could be done besides a full engine/turbo strip down a rebuild while its out? I would be grateful for any advice as I'm totally non mechanical(but I do cook well!) By the way I hope the colour will be Amazon Blue Mettalic. Looks stunning, a mate had it on his Audi Sports Quattro before some little twat nicked it. Regards John

Hi all, just to say Lynsay's (my girlfriend for those that don't know me!!!) car got broken into tonight by some complete FUCKWITS!!! The car was (get this) parked in a car park while she was decorating a function room next door for HER OWN 21st birthday tommorow To say I'm fuming doesn't even begin to describe..... They've nicked her stereo, CDs and sub amp! Probably looked in the glove box first, found face off for head unit and 60 cds (yup, 60!!!), then because they had the face decided to remove the head unit - then found the RCAs for the amp and pulled the back seat to take that. The irony is - she asked me to go there after work to help her decorate the roo…

Looking through previous posts I noticed that some people have Z's that start to smoke after idling for a while, they described this problem as probably the rear turbo seals going. My Z has recently started doing this, but only after an oil change from whatever to Magnatec, and an HKS filter fitted. The only time it did this previously was when I tried to adjust the idle up a bit as it was indicated low. (turned out to be and incorrect reading.) I turned the idle screw and it started to belch out loads, and I mean LOADS of white smoke...swiftly set back to normal! Perhaps the better oil has exasperated the problem. But it doesn't seem to do it if the car i…

A couple of people were asking at SE on Sunday about these 'toys' which measure performance. There's a couple available on http://www.race-technology.com/WebPage/Products/Accelerometer/PerformanceMeterIntro.html which seem to represent reasonable value for money. If anyone goes for one, post results on here ! Dave

Last weekend I cleaned my throttle bodies - they were filthy. Did the disconnect the power bit to reset the ECU, which helpfully reset all the radio stations too. Anyway, before I started the idle speed had always been a bit erratic and rather high, typically 900-1100 ish. Afterwards it was sitting happily at about 1300, so I finally decided to do something about it. Engine running, autobox in neutral, a/c off, disconnected the AAC sensor, turned the idle screw clockwise A LONG WAY, felt like almost as far as it would go and it's now recessed some distance into the casting (I would have expected mabye only .5 to .75 of a turn but that's just based on experience with other…

Finally finished bedding these in last night, thanks to some info on the net (took 5 days of various different speed braking). one word: wow. My brakes have always been pretty good I thought.. they were a bit shit when I bought the car 3 years ago, but once I stuck mintex 1055s on and changed to DOT5.1 they were pretty good. However I still couldn't lock the wheels in the dry (I have 245 fronts though). But they would get to almost that point. Fading would not happen much, until >10 100-0 stops which wasn't bad going. However, with the 20 grooved disc and greenstuff, it's simply awesome. Braking does not fade at all (I've been thrashing it today.. includ…

I've recently bought a Jap import 300ZX Twin Turbo with auto transmission. On the forward side of the transmission selector lever, near it's base, there is a red switch which appears to slide up and down. What the hell does it do and how does it work? My Jap language handbook provides no clues whatsoever. Dodgy

Gave a Lotus 340R a good chasing today. He couldn't get away from me on straights but it was seriously quick round the twisties. The guy nearly lost his hair at about 100MPH! First one I've seen one the road - looks like a moon lander or something. I have never been too impressed by pictures of these wierd roof-less machines but after seeing one in the metal I want one! The exhaust note sounds superb too and that smell of racing oil Aaahhhhh. The car was a demonstrator from JCT600 in Leeds/Bradford area.

What's the first car you all got wicked oversteer in?? Mine was a 3 Litre Sport Capri - cost me £250 and did stoooopid things on roundabouts... then had 2 GTE Mantas that were equally as hooliganish round corners... Ahh those were the days... Mantas and Capri 2.8's and 3Litre Sports. Also had a 1600 Escort Sport MKII and it was great Bloody mal-adjusted front wheel drive shite nowadays.. previous to my deadZed I had a Carlton GSI3000.. marvellous beastie.. A proper car.. lots of BHP and driven by the rear wheels Oh well.. just reminising.. Peace and no safety boozt. Glen
