Hi, Having just bought a 300zx could I ask for advice: My car is a TT manual UK model registered in 1990. 1. It drives very well but has high miles - 126K. Is there anything to watch out for? I have files of bills for: new turbos(99K), rear stearing arms, Brake master cylinder, Timing Belt(110K), Clutch(96K). It has full history but is there anything to keep an eye on? 2. It has a Scorpion exhaust and the boost gauge reads 14psi under acceleration. Is this normal? I have checked the ECU and it has a Nissan badge on it. 3. Occasionally when hot the clutch judders slightly on engaging. Is this a sign the clutch is worn? How long on average do they last? 4. Do…

As a new Z driver, I thought I'd share a trivial but very annoying feature of my car. The ignition key gets locked in the ignition every time and I have to release a little spring just above the black release button to remove it. Not cool at all. Anyone else had this problem, and know if the locking mechanism on the ignition key can be removed safely. I was hoping to put a picture of my car here but don't know how - its a red SWB TT with a full Veilside R bodykit - gorgeous.

Hi guys. This book is now out of print. I have found a place who has the last batch of them and is willing to do a group buy for us (it's not that expensive anyway). They are all mint copies and the book is meant to be a really good read. Is anyone interested? I'm certainly getting one. The basic price is about 14.50 per book but I can get it much lower for greater quantities. See ya, Andy p.s. I'll be away for Le Mans from Thursday morning so I won't be able to answer any posts until Monday night at the earliest. Book details: "NISSAN 300ZX", by Ray Hutton. 'The Enthusiast's Companion'. Published in England in 1990. 112 pages, size 9.8in by 7…

Does anything on the car need changing if I put a Cone style air filter instead of the stock ones? Some told me that you should change the timing slightly! Is this true. Changed my filters a few days ago and the old ones where covered in crap, the person I bought it of a few months ago hadn't changed them for a very long time. The car ran so much better when clean ones where put. Does a cone filter make it even better? Cheers Stuart.

A question. My Zed just back from Nelson Mandela after amongst other things had a whiney idler pulley replaced, so I assume they removed the rad. Even from cold this evening the fan seemed to be running at max speed. I'll phone them in the morning but any ideas on cause? Seem to remeber past posts about naked sender units. Glenn

Forgive me Z forum for I have sinned, this is my first confession. I was beaten by a Daewoo in my 91 TT. Yes, going to Salford on a rather wet day, along the East Lancs, where, for people who dont know the Mancherster/Liverpool area, there are several traffic lights along a national speed limit dual carrage way. Pulling up to traffic lights where a Daewoo confronted me by pulling up in the lane next to me. Revving his engine, I was not strong enough to resist this temptation. The light changed from the firy hell red to green. And I was off. After 30 seconds of wheel spin I began to move just in time before the lights turned to red I was slo…

Craig, trying to help someone out with part nos., tried Courtesy Nissan microfiche on TT.net but can't find the parts?!??!?!?? What's the score? Does it not give that much detail? Helped someone out last week with a thermostat! Frustrating to say the least! Tim ;-)

GuyZ, Recently we have all been raving about 18's. I want, yes I do, mama!!! However, I was looking at some of the sites that we have been posting last week and I stumbled on one site that quoted...wait for it...£645 for Bridge's S02's...I take it that is per tyre...WTF??? Are they seriously that much? Difference between 17's and 18's was immense. 17" tyres were about £400 and then the massive hike for 18's. Am I reading this wrongly 'ere or are they really that much? Or was that for a set? Something tells me that was per tyre! I am reallistically dreaming about the BlitZ alloys at some point but if I'm going to have to pay that much, more than wh…

Well, traction control arrived this morning!!! Within 3 and a half hours it was fitted and calibrated! Fairly simple job if you take your time and don't rush into it! So, the question is..... Am I the first to have it fitted instead of it being an ornament in the garage or has somebody else beaten me to it???? Seriously though guys, this is not a difficult job as long as you take your time (oh yeah, and can use a soldering iron!). All I,ve got to do now is put all the trim back in which should take about half an hour and I'm one happy chappy!!! CheerZ to Johnny for sorting the deal out in the first place. Top man!!! Andy

Howdy, Needed something to do on my Z so measured my Throttle Position Sensor voltages. I get 0.46 closed throttle to 4.07 when fully open. I have read on other tech pages that the range should be from 0.45 to roughly 4 volts. Would 0.01 of a volt make that much difference on the car? Ta ------------------ crazyeddie.co.uk

Hi all, wonder if someone might be able to hemp me out here. I recently happened to view the front of my car from a lower angle and noticed something unfamiliar behind the nose vents - a small silver bottle. Here's a link to a few pics. Can anyone tell me what this is? Thanks =) Raz

At about 100 if i switch my wipers they struggle like mad to sweep the screen. At a bit more than that they lift off the screen and waggle around 3 inches off the glass as the wiper motor fights against the draught. This clearly limits top speed at any time it's raining even lightly. I bought wipers with a aerofoil but it makes no difference. Is this just me or do all Z's suffer from this. If not whats the solution?
