For months I've been trying to find the source of a rattle / knock from somewhere in the back. I checked the rear suspension etc but no joy. Then finally tried popping the hatchback release while driving over a rough road. Instant silence. Cure was to loosen and reset the fixed lock plate so it held the door closed tighter. Rattle was coming from the lock mech.

the toyota supra was delayed for launch in 1990 as the 300zx tt was thaught so far ahead in design and technology, they had to go back and redesign the concept of the toyota supra,,, so ha ha ha

Recently bought a new CTS For ECU from nissan and went to fit it at the weekend. On removing the old one it looks different from the new one nissan has supplied!. The shape and depth of the sensor is quite different. Is this the wrong one thay have supplied or has the manufacturer changed the design?. I would be grateful for any views please guys before I install!. Cheerz Simon H

I know I am probably teahing most people who post here to suck eggs, but just in case you are interested.... I followed the instructions to clean out the throttle bodies today, and it seems to have done the trick to my idling problem. Whilst I was doing it I noticed that my throttle cable was quite loose, so I tightened it using the two nuts. What a difference, I guess it's my fault for forgetting it when I have been servicing the car (it's easy to overlook). Makes a hell of a lot of difference, like I said it's easy to miss and cables do stretch over time. Check yours it only takes a few minutes to do. You don't even have to open the bonnet - just puch th…

I own 92TT Jap 56000 miles ish...It runs like a dream However, as is evident from the forum the auto is a bit suspect. Is it worth the additional cooler/flush/oil upgrade etc at this "late" stage or should I just save up for the inevitable???? Please help.... Regardz

Assuming you didnt need any work done like a new engine or anything major :) What would you spend £2000 on for your Zed? Engine mods? Bodykit? Interior? ICE? Suspension? Big Brakes? etc or would you replace the parts that may be tired or worn i.e. all the bushes, Ball joints, bits people dont think of till they fall off! I know I would have a nice Mines ECU over new ball joints any day :-) Just curious to see what you guys would get. See ya, Trev UK 300ZX Club

Well, after nearly a week of driving my Z, I can say I am very impressed. The first day in the wet was great fun! Driving around in the sun with the roof off turns quite a few heads as well. But you know all this allready. I tried to that HICAS test thingy with no luck, any pointers?? Also, is there a way of removing the speed limiter (155) without altering the boost? Not that I've been going over 170 without a problem at 9psi. Could there be something wrong with my speedo? because I thought the car was standard. Thanks Rob.

Hi, I've just bought myself a 300zx, black, and have previously done most work to my cars myself. I would be grateful for any useful tips with regards to servicing and any faults I should look for. I was recommended to come on this site by a friend and have already been through alot of the topics posted. However it would seem no-one seems to use their real name. Do I need a 'nick name' and if so are there any suggestions. Heidi

Right, now as I said previously I figured my discs were a bit warped as I had a bit of a shudder through the steering from high speed during braking... however since the car is back on the road (been sitting on drive with no radiator last 2 weeks), its undrivable... any braking effort above 20mph and the steering shudders like f**k. The only thing I can think of is that a caliper has seized... causing only one side to push against disc...Make sense ? I tried pumping the brake pedal (with the car stopped) to try and free it, but no joy. Is there an easy way to tell of your disc are warped or your caliper is seized. I don't want to order these 3g discs and find it was the c…

I know that the turbos are smaller on the auto and the ECU is different but is there any other differences in the engine? Would an auto engine and head be suitable for a performance re-build for a manual car? Also what about suspension parts, is there anything on the auto that would not be suitable for my manual? Paul
