On my way to work this morning in the zed (as I do every morning), once up to temp I gave it a bit of right foot only to be greeted with..... Nothing!? Tried again when I had a bit of empty road and again nothing, so (not as quickly as usual) made my way to work. On the way home this evening, again got the car up to temp and gave it some beans again and still nothing. Decided to pull over, stuck in in park and gave it a rev just in the hope I could hear anything but still nothing. Thought sod it, I'll get home and have a look over the weekend before I fit my hicas eliminator, pulled away and (as it says in the cilit bang ad) turbo power!? What could be the caus…

This link was attempt 1 where the 3rd brake light flashed all the time you're foot was on the brake no matter what. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?173462-Mine-with-3rd-Brake-Light-Flasher-Module-Fitted-Video-!! Now I have fit a different control module that I will keep as I quite like, this one flashes in unison the 3rd and a high level 4th led brake light for a couple of seconds and then goes solid along with the tail light ones, if you then press again within 5 or so seconds the 3rd and 4th brake lights remain solid, wait more than this and the flashing process will begin again, so therefore not flashing every time you're shuffling along in traff…

Started to notice yesterday an odd squeak from inside the car. I've figured out it's coming from behind the small plastic grill in the centre of the roof but I've no idea what's actually causing it, all I know is it's electrical since it stops when I switch off the ignition. Does anyone know what it is, how to fix it or even what I'm talking about? Thanks, Daniel.

My new japspeed hicas eliminator kit turns up tomorrow (hopefully), so with any luck, will be deleting the hicas this weekend. I've already been given the answer to joining the pipes at the front end? Now its just the fluid to top up the system afterwards. Is this it? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=175466&categoryId=255219&langId=-1 How much will I need? And is there anything else I need or need to know before I attempt this?

So let's rewind it back I bought the car a few months back with a slight oil leak on the drivers side turbo , it smoked a little on idle but still drove fine and didn't take much oil fast forward a few months and I think it's now shotting out a lot more oil , the problem started today I went to pick my brother up about 8 miles away and at the traffic lights, I start to see blue smoke coming up out And over the top of the bonnet ( always a good sign ) also the exhaust was shotting it out , first thing I looked at was all my levels ... Fine , wasn't overheating so I popped the bonnet and I'm seeing the smoke coming from the top left of the engine bay ... Turbo , I turned th…

This thread is also directed at anyone that has experience in this field. I'm going to ditch my in-car PC for a headunit (again!) and am just weighing up my options of available HU's. The pioneer unit I'm looking at only has 2v pre-outs; now whilst I understand the pros and cons of pre-out voltages, I was just wondering if, in the real world acoustic environment of a moving car (with assumed good earth points for the equipment and RCA's routed correctly etc) would the 2v really make any difference compared to say 4v, taking road ad engine noise etc into consideration? My initial thoughts are no, but I thought I'd pop a post on here to the voices of experience wh…

Hi all. I've started having the very weird problem in the past few weeks. My Z suddenly won't rev past 5000RPM either on heavy boost with my foot planted or gently creeping up there on light throttle. On heavy boost (foot to the floor) sometimes i'll just get a sudden cut out at 5000RPM. Other times it just get to 5000RPM and sound's like it's hit a limiter and you get the BRRRRRRRRRRR noise! I've done the usual and cleanned all the connectors, PTU, MAS connector ETC with electrical contact cleaner. They we're clean anyway to be honest with no Green corrosion on them. It idles smooth, boosts strong with no hesitation up to 5000RPM. Any idea's what it could be …

I want to replace my horns on my Z, they are all rusty and sound like they have water in them. Anyway, I want something similar to the ones below but all seem to have two connections whereas the standard Z has just one. Is it just a case of wiring the second pin straight to earth? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-SNAIL-AIR-HORN-SET-FOR-CARS-TRUCKS-VANS-DUAL-TONE-EASY-TO-FIT-/390666654547?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5af58c1353 Thanks, Dan

Today I set out to organise a little cruise for all of the Z members still keen on going on a Z cruise after the annual Great Ocean Road cruise was cancelled because of the bad weather conditions we have had the last few days which could have increased the risk for a member to have an accident on the wet and slippery GOR roads we would have driving on today. So my plan was to take a small group of Zs up to a few of the historical buildings in my local area including places like the Werribee Mansion and then drive up to Point Cook RAAF military base for the group to check out an aviation Museum. Finally we would make our way to Williamstown where we would end up at another…

Thought I would bring this up after seeing the previous "ACL Bearing Admin" post. A year or 2 back when collecting the parts for my forge build I happen to check the main bearing fittment on the block and noticed a misalignment of the oil holes of the rear bearing/thrust shell to the oil groove in the block. This misalignment was approx 1-1.5mm out. The misalignment of the large hole also misaligns the crank journal hole hole. The block oil groove was central in the block where as the oil holes in the bearing was off set. I emailed ACL in Tasmania asking them if I had a faulty batch and they were shocked at my statement. They replied back later to say that this was th…
