Selling a 1989 (old body shape) red TT 300zx Recently it was taken in for a service and the garage fitted a new water pump, it made a noise on the way home, and when we got it back to the garage they said that the big end has gone on the engine. Garage is not accepting responsibitlty so i would like someone to either make me and offer or sell me an engine very cheap. Either way email me at Dringy@clara.net for details.

Has anyone fitted the front fogs that Courtesy supply? I've got me nice new corner combination lights/indicators (cheers Iain) and thought that maybe apair of 'driving lights' might help to allieviate the gloom that is the driving on diped beam experience. Are front fogs any use as 'driving lights'? Can they be used with the headlights on dipped beam? Are there any better alternatives?

HI Guys 'n' Girls Is it true that jap fuel is 100 octane? and that the jspecs require higher octane fuel to run properly? if the above is the case, then is it possible to retune for 95 or 97 octane fuel? and what wound i need to change? or is it best just to use Optimax which is supposed to be 98 Octane but still substancially lower than japanese fuel? I have noticed a huge difference in responsivness between normal unleaded fuel and optimax. are there any other side affects of using lower octane fuel? I hope this make sense. Cheers Mick

Hi all, Just got my Z recently, 1991 Jap Spec SWB, Auto. Now, I can't read Japanese, and my english handbook does not cover the switchable auto, so can someone describe the functions of the switch, I've had an Audi auto before with a sport mode, but the Z seems to have 3 modes in total!! What does it do in HOLD? What does it do in the middle!!? What does it do in POWER? HOLD seems to equate to the sports setting on My old Audi, as it holds back longer before changing up which I can understand, but what does power do? I've only driven the car home at 60MPH tops in appaling traffic and weather so have'nt tried it out yet, it's now laid up in the g…

Took the Z to an auto-electrician yesterday to get them to give all the under-bonnet wiring the once over, paying special attention to the throttle pos sensor, ptu, coils, etc etc, What a difference it has made, nice even tick over, seems to be more crisp aswell. It was something I had been putting off for ages but glad I got round to doing it, and not too much money either as its all labour and about 10p parts. Ahhh, lovely.

ive just had a new sony head unit fitted - however the standard fascia surround that came with the stereo ( the bit of plastic that makes the stereo look flush) has not been fitted by the audio guys. hence the stereo has a big gap all the way around it and looks crap. is this cos the surround wont fit? are the nissan din slots reknowned for being an awkward shape? or were the garage being lazy. if it is that they are an awkward shape are there adaptors available?? PS just has new rear tyres fitted - replaced the balding Kumho Ecstas with Brdgestone SO3s. tested them; before i was losing the back end in 3rd, in the damp, at this one roundabout. w…

Just seen the new Z at Courtesy Nissan. It looks 10 times better in the flesh and is a real stunner, both inside and out. The salesman did not know much about the car and would not even give me brochure. I think that they may have a specialist sales team. The guys on the accessories side are Z enthusiats so that was quite refreshing.

I found out my clunking. :D I looked under the car today and I noticed that the roll bar has been sliding along, by the scratches on it. So I have finally found what it is. How do I go about fixing it? Here is the bushes for sale at the Zcentre. No4 holds the roll bar in place and is where I have noticed the slip. http://www.zcentre.co.uk/Images/suspension/frt_bush_lge.jpg Here is a larger view of the picture http://300zx-twinturbo.com/manual/fa/016.gif Will changing these bushes stop the bar from slipping? As a few of you will know my Z has just been kitted and was due to leave PPS until we found it wouldn't start! All had been OK until last week when all the interior and gadgets had been wired in and then it wouldn't fire. It had run fine on many occasions over the last few months it's been in. The engine was turning over but not firing. Tried another PTU but still the same. Checked for a spark at the plugs and was OK. We could hear the fuel pump working and pressure was OK. What could it be if there was fuel and a spark?!?! Thought it must be something to do with the turbo timer or Blitz power meter that had just been fitted so removed those. Still no…

November issue of 'Japanese Performance' carries an article about buying a used 300zx....and in the section 'Suspension/Steering' is this.... 'Many owners don't realise that the suspension dampers on all UK spec twin-turbo models can be set for hard or soft settings. It's done using the handbrake mechanism. Yes, really - check with handbook or dealer/specialist.' Sounds more than a bit wacky to me....but....have checked handbook, nothing! So now I am asking the resident 'specialists'.....is it right, and if it is how do I adjust???

I just read a thread in which an electric engine fan was mentioned, am I missing something obvious here, as my z appears to have a pulley riven fan that runs whenever the engine is on. Plase don't tell me that it is also electric and can run on with the car static as I'll have to rewire the bloody alarm Ive just finished!! Paul N

Just had to check the tyres as the car is pulling very slightly to the left.On inspection i've noticed the front tyres are only 205's and the rears are 225's is this correct? I assume the pull is the tracking even though the steering wheel is straight it could still be tracking? Shouldn't the tyres be little phatter?

Hi, I think I need some SOFT brake pads for the SVA. I say this because of the stupid way they test the brakes, ie engine off etc, and I need them to grab cold and well without the servo.. Any ideas...?
